Since December, I’ve been a member of SCFIT and can’t recommend it highly enough. The facilities are excellent, and the coaches are knowledgeable, highly motivating, and very patient, which is a great help for me. Having played team sports for over 25 years, I never enjoyed a gym environment until I was recommended Second City Fitness by a mate. They were the CrossFit bore in the pub, and now I am too! I only wish I had discovered it two decades ago. It’s tough work, but incredibly rewarding.

This was my first ever CrossFit membership/experience, and the team and coaches were immensely welcoming & supportive. They made sure I was comfortable with the exercises and made sure to offer exercise variations, to suit my experience and fitness levels. I’m just over a month in to joining Second City and starting crossfit as a whole, and I’m only annoyed at myself that I didn’t do this sooner. The team have been super welcoming and have met some really supportive and fun people so far. The highlight for me though has been the attentiveness and support of the coaches. Dan, James and Lauren (who I’ve had sessions with so far) have been awesome and are always happy to give guidance and adjustment where needed and make you feel supported, especially when I felt like I’ve had no clue at all. MSC has been a fantastic gym. I started out with extremely limited confidence and I was reluctant to engage with the gym. I started my journey with 2 months of semi-private PT with Jura and he was brilliant. 4 months in, I’m now able to squat my body weight and I’m actually looking forward to getting up at 6am for MetCon classes!! I have been a member of Rigs Fitness for many years now but this place has been a life saver for me during my pregnancy. From the very beginning, everyone from the team at Rigs has been absolutely amazing! My goal was to stay strong, healthy, and supported throughout and all of the coaches have been very knowledgeable, encouraging, and incredibly thoughtful in adapting workouts to meet my changing needs.

Every session has felt safe, empowering, and genuinely enjoyable. The coaches- Dave, Rob, Lou, Matt, Lewis, Richard, Kim- take the time to understand what’s right for you, not just physically, but mentally as well. I’ve felt stronger, more confident, and well-prepared for the changes in my body thanks to their guidance. They never made me feel like I had to slow down, just adjust and train smarter, which made a huge difference in both my fitness and my mindset.

It’s more than just a gym, it’s a community. The atmosphere is always welcoming and positive, and I’ve felt very supported by the staff and fellow members during this journey.

If you’re pregnant and wondering whether you can (or should) keep training, Rigs is the place that will remind you you absolutely can!

Recently joined here I am really enjoying it. The sessions are challenging but you can go at a pace suitable for you. I absolutely love the 9 rounds class with Rob. I always feel great after classes and like I have done a real workout rather than motivating myself to go and lift weights at a mainstream gym. Mix of people of all abilities so it doesn’t feel too daunting, the staff are very friendly and ensure you feel welcome. I highly recommend HCF, and here’s why…

I joined HCF 1.5 years ago feeling low on confidence. I was overweight, my fitness wasn’t where it should have been, and I just didn’t feel like myself. I wasn’t in a good place and, honestly, I didn’t like who I had become.

Since joining HCF, I have lost nearly 3 stone, dropped a dress size, and now feel slimmer, stronger, and more toned. I’ve even competed in events I never thought possible: 2 Hyrox competitions (with my 3rd coming up in October), 2 Deka strongs, 1 Deka Mile, and several 5K and 10K runs, including Wolf Runs.

I wouldn’t have achieved any of this without the amazing coaches and supportive members of the HCF family. You are never alone here—everyone encourages each other every step of the way.

The coaches are outstanding. They ensure your form is correct, adapt workouts around injuries, and genuinely care about your progress—not just in fitness, but in life. I also do personal training sessions focused on my Hyrox goals. My coach has pushed me beyond my comfort zone, helping me feel more confident and prepared than ever. We also create weekly plans that include nutrition, running, recovery, and sleep, so I’m working on my goals even outside the gym.

What I love most about HCF is the group environment. You’re never working out alone—you’re doing it together, encouraging one another, and sharing the journey.

We also have fun along the way such as nice retreats to switch off and relax some lovely hikes and social nights out.

Since joining HCF, I am fitter, healthier, and far more confident. Most importantly, I’m starting to love myself again, believe in myself more, and feel genuinely happier in life.

I was initially apprehensive signing up to a Crossfit box/functional fitness gym as I did not have the best experience when I did so 5 years ago. However, after regularly working out at SCFit Central for the last 4 months, my experience could not be any better.

Class sizes are small and you get really good coaching from coaches (special shout out to Gaz, Rhod, Mike and Elfie!) who really care about improving your physical fitness and nutrition. They push you without being arrogant and pushy. They expertly scale workouts to your current abilities. This in turn has helped me workout consistently and make exercise and diet a priority. Large CrossFit box located in the grounds of a local Rugby and Tennis club. Lots of outdoor space both grassy fields and a long stretch of drive off the main road which makes it a safe place to do a run or a farmer’s carry when your workout asks for them. The weights and other equipment is really well looked after and maintained and the gym itself is kept very clean and tidy as the owners, coaches the members are very proud of the space and treat it with care. There’s an impressive selection of cardio machines including assault bikes, concept2 rowers and ski ergs. The atmosphere is very welcoming too, it’s a great place for a one-off drop in, you’ll be made to feel very welcome and everyone will ensure that you have a really enjoyable workout. There are showers, changing rooms and indoor toilets on site. Like most CrossFit boxes there are no lockers because your stuff will be more than safe and there are some shelves inside where you can leave your kit bag etc. There are snacks & drinks available to purchase at the box. Walmley village is one a mile away and there’s a pub and a café there with plenty of parking should you want a pre or post-workout meal.
