Been joining the yoga sessions on a Tuesday evening along with my daughter’s for a few months now. We love the sessions with Annabelle she is brilliant! So helpful and friendly and explains everything very well. We were all new to yoga so it’s a great session to start with. You leave feeling relaxed and that you have really stretching those muscles, doing your body some good!
The studio is lovely and calming. So clean and it has all what you need for the sessions, mats, blocks and more.
Holly is also so very helpful and friendly and will always try and accommodate you in anyway always happy to answer any questions and give good advice.
They do lots of different sessions and therapies to suit everyone.
We all love going there and would highly recommend if your new to yoga.
However there are other sessions available for people who are more advanced, not got to that point yet, still enjoying what we are doing!

I’ve been going to Holly’s classes at HL Therapy for about 18 months now and i love them. I’d never done pilates before and was a bit nervous about going. I only went because i have a bad back and hip and was told it might help.
But from the moment i walked through the door, i was made to feel so welcome. The studio is bright, airy and extremely clean. All equipment is provided and the classes are both challenging, relaxing and fun. Holly ensures the classes are suitable for all levels and offers modifications and adaptations so you can participate safely. She keeps an eye on you throughout and tactfully and knowledgeably corrects your form. I’ve never regretted going and can see a real improvement in my flexibility and mobility. It’s also great for my well being as i get to switch off my life for an hour a couple of times a week.

I had such an amazing Pilates class with Ricara today. The workout was really challenging (in the best way!), but she guided us through every step and made sure we were doing everything safely and correctly. She also played some really great music, which made the whole session even more enjoyable. It was such a brilliant experience, made extra special because it was my birthday and I got to enjoy it with my girls. I came away feeling accomplished, supported, and inspired. I come here for Reformer 3/4 times a week and LOVE this studio so much. Such a safe space for women and I love the little community of friends I’ve made here ❤️. Reformer has genuinely changed my life and a few years off 40, it’s the best I’ve ever felt. Yesterday I tried wood therapy/body contouring. It was my first time trying this… did NOT expect the results i got. Ricara did my treatment and it was so relaxing but I could definitely feel it is pushing around stubborn bits of fat/gas/toxins/trapped whatever bad stuff was in there (tmi but girls we need to talk about this stuff for out selfcare!) Went to the toilet 1/2 more times than normal, drank 3l of water as Ricara said…but I woke up feeling SNATCHED! All day I just feel like my body feels like the pipes have all been cleaned like a brand new digestive system. Love love LOVEEE❤️

I accidentally stumbled upon The Loft Pilates and it has been my go to place for sports massage! I have tried many masseuse around Birmingham but none compares to Cat!

Her massages may hurt because I have a lot of knots and tightness of the muscles but I leave knowing that my knots and tension have been released and I feel so much better! She is very knowledgeable and has this skill of working the muscles. She knows when to be gentle and when to be firm.

After the sessions my mobility is amazing and am up and about and able to attend to all my day to day activities
She is very knowledgeable about the anatomy of the body and is able to adjust your exercises according to your own individual needs .

I had acupuncture with Cathy for my Frozen shoulders. I could only lift my arms to a certain level and after 1 session, I could move my arms more and the pins and needles stopped in my hands.

Today I had cupping done and it was amazing! Feel great as soon as I left. Definitely recommend and I’ve booked back in for more sessions.

What I appreciate most is that she explains why you’re doing something, not just what to do. Very disappointing experience. I tried to book a one-time class through their website, but the process was extremely confusing. The site is poorly organized and not user-friendly. I was required to pay £22 before even selecting a class — and once I paid, there was no option to actually book anything.
I tried to contact them multiple times: called several times (no answer), sent WhatsApp messages (no reply), and even went to the studio during their listed opening hours — it was closed.
No communication, no service, and no refund so far. This level of customer service is unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this studio based on my experience.

She was so supportive and after it I couldn’t wait to go to a class. As an absolute beginner, I’m loving my experience at Graft Pilates! They have a range of great classes and the instructors I’ve had so far are on point – calm, clear, and concise in their teaching style. Whenever I’ve been unsure about certain moves, they’ve been very helpful in providing guidance and corrections.

The class sizes are just right – not too big, not too small – which makes it easy to get personalized attention without feeling cramped for space. The music works well too, helping to enhance the experience and get me in the zone.

I have been going to the studio for 1:1 sessions with Anna and now I go to the group reformer sessions. I absolutely love the studio it has such a calm atmosphere and everyone is really friendly and welcoming. All levels are catered for and Anna explains everything really well and makes sure you are comfortable with the pace and strength. I felt a bit anxious about joining a group session as I am only a beginner, but as soon as I got there I felt really relaxed as everyone was really friendly so it put me at ease. I have since booked in for the next month of classes and really enjoy my sessions at the studio. As there are 6 beds in the class, it makes you feel like you are really being looked after and given full attention to make sure you are getting the full benefits of the reformer sessions.

No parking (nearest is £5/hr), the gym is overcrowded with not enough space or equipment, and the staff were rude when I raised concerns. Tried to get a refund but was refused. I cancelled and moved to a better gym — wouldn’t recommend this one.

I’ve been using this gym for a while, and unfortunately, it’s become clear that there are some serious issues that need to be addressed.

First of all, the showers are nearly unusable. The water is extremely hot, with no way to adjust the temperature. It was already too hot in the winter, and now in the summer, it’s even worse. After a workout in the heat, stepping into burning water is the last thing anyone wants.

But the problems go beyond just the showers. The gym overall feels dirty and poorly maintained. The bathroom is often messy and doesn’t seem to be cleaned regularly. There’s water on the floor, paper everywhere, and no one appears to be taking responsibility for it.

Some of the equipment is in terrible shape too. The mattresses are old and ripped , and the facility in general looks like it hasn’t been properly cared for in a long time. It really gives the impression that the place is being neglected.

This gym has potential, but right now, it’s not a place I feel comfortable using. I hope management starts taking cleanliness and maintenance more seriously for the safety and comfort of everyone.

I had a really disappointing experience today.
I was booked for a class and unfortunately ended up being the only one who showed up something that has happened to me before now and lesson carried on anyway . I’m new to gym and was looking forward to getting help with some weightlifting techniques.

However, the instructor today seemed completely uninterested. Right from the start, he kept suggesting I rebook the class simply because I was the only one there. Even after I explained what I wanted to focus on, he continued trying to talk me out of it instead of doing his job.

It was frustrating and discouraging. I eventually just gave up I wasn’t going to spend 30 minutes with someone who clearly didn’t want to be there or help me.

I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, especially for newcomers who are trying to build confidence and skills.

The equipment here does not seem to be well maintained by the gym staff. The staff are also not visible on the gym floor and need to be patrolling to put equipment back where they should be.

And the order of some of the equipment does not make sense logically.

Could the fixed weight barbells be placed in the same section as the dumbells / benches? I had to walk to and from the other side of the room downstairs just to get and swap a 10kg barbell for a 15kg one and then for a 17.5kg one.

In every other gym I’ve been in, the fixed weight barbells are in the same section as the free weights and benches.

The leg press machine seat adjustment is impossible to do, I had to ask someone to move the pin for me because it seemed to be jammed or very stiff. Again this has never been an issue in the other gyms I’ve been to

The cable machines don’t have the straps/handle attachment which other gyms have as well. And on some of the cable machines I can’t even set the weight to 4kg (the lowest) because the black plastic cover on the cable machine gets in the way.

Overall it’s not a great first impression for the gym and I hope management will listen to these suggestions

Poor Maintenance and Hygiene Issues

Review:

I’ve been using PureGym from last two weeks and I’m disappointed with the poor maintenance of the facility. Most of the mats are torn or damaged, and the treadmills are extremely dirty. It seems like there isn’t regular or thorough cleaning, which is concerning given how many people use the equipment daily.

This lack of hygiene can lead to skin issues or infections, especially when people sweat and use the same unclean surfaces. For a gym that promotes health and fitness, proper cleanliness and equipment upkeep should be a priority.

I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves the cleanliness and maintenance standards.

I attended classes with Miguel a few times a week while I was acting on a UK Theatre tour in Birmingham (easy 15min walk from the New Alexandra Theatre) and loved them! He was very patient and understanding and catered each lesson to my specific needs. I felt he really took the time to understand what my body needed and how far I could go. He is very positive but also really encourages you to challenge yourself, so you leave feeling you’ve achieved a lot! Would highly recommend and will definitely return if ever in Birmingham again. I couldn’t boost this more. I never knew a thing about Pilates before my first lesson with Miguel. I was given a full run through of the basics and background. During my first lesson Miguel really listened to my questions and carefully explained the science of control. After completing my sessions I have finally got a sense of control back in my life, both mentally and physically. Not only that, but I have noticed my body becoming so much more toned up too! I have had a few 1:1 Pilates sessions with Olga now and cannot rave about it enough! I am extremely unfit, hate exercise, have a sedentary job and consequently have a bad back. New to Pilates, from day one I was standing taller. Every time I feel my body getting stronger and my posture and alignment improving. Olga demonstrates and explains everything really well. Her extensive training and experience clearly evident. It is fascinating to observe all the little tweaks she makes and she ensures the sessions are varied and interesting. As a Pilates beginner I went into my one to one Pilates sessions quite hesitant, however Miguel and Olga made myself feel at ease, and confident enough to challenge myself, without overdoing it. Yesterday was my second visit to see Miguel at the Birmingham Pilate Studio. I believe in first impressions, and my second visit only verified my first.
The studio is a safe, calm and relaxing environment allowing its users to feel comfortable in their surrounds. The studio is fitted with equipment throughout, allowing users to add a number of variations to their Pilates routine, whether this be to add an extra level of complexity, or, to make the movement easier.

Miguel equally radiates an aura of calmness. His dedication to the true original ethos of Pilates, is without question, and he prides himself on his unwavering commitment.

During my sessions, Miguel has been able to breakdown my areas of weakness (a rather un-supple back), and tailored my sessions around this, whilst ensuring I stayed true to the whole routine.

I also had a brief opportunity to meet Olga, the newest member of the team. Although brief, I can see they she also has a passion to rival that of Miguel, and I believe they will make a great partnership of the studio.

I look forward to my return visits, and urge everyone to check out this amazing place.

I’ve been going to Studio 88 since it opened in November and I would honestly feel so lost without this place. Can’t think of any better way to spend an evening / weekend.

I’ve been taught by most of the instructors now and they are all amazing! You feel so comfortable and at ease as soon as you walk through the door. As the classes are smaller this also allows the instructors to really focus on each persons form and correct where necessary.

Candace has worked so hard to create such a welcoming, inclusive space. Would highly recommend to anybody that wants to give reformer pilates a try.

So glad to have found a local Reformer Pilates (RP) studio with ALL excellent instructors. Easy to get to & no stress finding parking.
I am absolutely obsessed. I’m a middle age lady with few existing injuries, trying to get back into fitness. Studio 88 RP helps build my strength without lifting heavy weights in male dominated gyms. The gentle warmth of muscle burn you get afterwards is priceless – a whole body workout, wakes up muscles in areas I didn’t know I had. To start, I had few 1 to 1 sessions with Candace as I was nervous about my existing injuries. I then progressed quickly to a couple of beginners classes. All absolutely excellent. Just experienced my 1st signature class with Sian which I thoroughly enjoyed the stretch I needed. Instructors are really supportive & encourage you. They really have built my confidence.
Booking classes is easy. The price is fair with package options. Very popular & may need to join waiting. Any time I require support with booking etc. the response has been immediate. This is not a large, scaled up company. They have time for their customers & attention to detail is excellent.
I almost didn’t want to leave a review for my own selfish reasons as I know with popularity, more customers will join. I just want all classes to myself – I’m truly obsessed. These guys deserve this feedback as they have a fab business model, focus centered on customers. When you have a busy life, juggling lots of things, you often neglect your health & getting back into fitness is a pain. Studio 88 makes it easy for you. I know another branch opening in Hall Green area & will be just as popular as Stirchley branch. I just hope the consistency in Stirchley branch remains the same.
