My treatment at Physio Art has been exceptional. Adhip is a great practitioner – his humour, compassion, knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for his subject really put me at ease and made the whole process fun rather than tedious. A gem of a place! I would highly recommend the services of the excellent people that make up Physio Art. They are truly top class professionals. From Sara on reception to the expertise of Ruth, Batul and Adhip, the best treatment was received for both myself and my teenage son. The exercise programme being sent via email for us to follow hugely aided our recovery. We have felt very well looked after by a company that put their patients first.

I’ve only had one session with Physio Art, but I felt completely at ease. The location was easy to get, to, although with limited parking but that didn’t detract from the overall experience. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and my experience with Adhip who was providing expert advice for my calf was brilliant. I was provided with an app and log-in for great video tutorials on the bespoke package of exercises to support me, including the supporting muscles for the problem in question. I’d highly recommend anyone to use Physio Art, I’ve already booked in my next session.

I would always recommend Physio Art as I have had such professional and expert help from them over the years from when they were in Pritchatts Road to more recently now in Knightlow Road. I have always felt listened to and understanding; encouraged to keep going even when injury or arthritis makes you feel really down. I especially recommend Alex Sarah and Hannah who have treated me well during this time.
I have always been able to get an appointment in a timely time and their new studios are great!

Highly recommend Jezzie, before coming to see her i was advised by another clinic that I’d need injections in my wrist to help it heal and recover.

At my first consultation she noticed that the pain had started further up and I had been compensating the pain over a long period. After the first treatment I was already feeling the relief but after my 3rd treatment along with helpful exercises and stretches I’m pain free and was all thanks to Jezzie’s knowledge and persistence

I have been receiving physiotherapy from Lewis for the past few weeks and it has done wonders for me. I used to get pain in my lower back and glute and in my right arm due to my work. After I started treatment, I could feel the pain reducing with each session and the back pain is almost gone at this point after about 6 sessions. The exercises and stretches Lewis prescribed are helping with future flexibility and strength.
I hadn’t been able to do burpees for two years and Lewis has me back doing my favourite exercise again for which I am very thankful!
Lewis is professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He asked lots of questions at the beginning to understand the root of the issue and knew straight away what needed to be done. If you are looking for a physio for yourself, i would definitely recommend!!

I would highly recommend seeing Lewis for any sports massage/ injury therapy. I have been to see a couple other physios about my shoulder but none of them seemed to know what my injury was or how to treat it. A few weeks with Lewis and my shoulder feels brand new. The sessions were worth the pain and the after care was great aswell as the recommended training he gave me to do at home to speed up the recovery

Lewis as he is a great physiotherapist! For ages I had excruciating pains in my hips and lower back. I’ve had a few sessions with Lewis now and I feel totally different. I no longer have any pains whereas before it was almost everyday. Each session Lewis continued to gradually increase the amount of pressure on my joints and always recommended me different exercises when others didn’t seem to work as effectively. I highly recommend Lewis to anyone suffering with such problems.

Yasmi has been excellent with ensuring recovery of my knees, especially the left one.

Exercises were built on very gradually. You know at the start with physio exercises, you feel like it can’t be doing much but it really did work and have built to resistance exercises and dynamic exercises so I can get back to decent exercise to get this 2″ off my waist.

All was explained well at each session.

Top marks.

I’ve just completed a course of physio with Nida Kamran and her colleagues, Nida was my usual physiotherapist.

Nida’s assessment of my needs proved to be perfectly accurate, and the course of treatment was specifically targeted to acutely remedy my injury.

The course led by Qas was hands on with a perfect blend of theory. I have already used the methods that I learnt and practised on the two days on various clients and it has yielded amazing success. I would not hesitate to recommend this course to anyone who is looking to further their career in manually therapy. The inclusion of a guest speaker on the second day was an eye opener.

Qasim is exceptional. I suffered a severe shoulder problem from an old football injury and couldn’t exercise — I was frustrated and had tried everything. After only two sessions Qasim found the issue: he carefully manipulated and focused on my shoulder with his own style of physiotherapy, identified a hidden injury, got me x-rayed, then used deep tissue massage and manual therapy to reduce years of inflammation and swelling. My shoulder works again. I now go to the gym regularly and, through Qasim’s weight-training program, have rebuilt a strong, powerful shoulder. He’s unlike any physio I’ve had in the last ten years — truly the best. Be warned: some of his therapy isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it works.

I came to Qasim with an ongoing ankle sprain issue that had been flaring up on and off for a couple of years. He quickly identified the areas that needed work and gave me simple, effective exercises I could do at home to build strength. As my ankle improved, he gradually increased the intensity of the exercises to target other movements like jumping and running. He also helped relieve the pain during our sessions using massage, acupuncture, and deep tissue work on my calves to ease the stiffness I had when I first came in. The whole process was straightforward and easy to follow. I’m now back to 100% and able to comfortably play the sports I enjoy.

Life-Changing Treatment – Shoulder Pain Gone After 2 Years!

I had been struggling with constant shoulder pain for over 2 years – it affected my sleep, work, and even simple daily activities. After trying different treatments with little success, I finally decided to book in for a shoulder injection and rehabilitation. Honestly, I wish I had done this sooner!

From the very first appointment, the care and professionalism were outstanding. The injection was quick and almost painless, and the physio guided me through a personalised rehab programme that actually made sense and delivered results.

Within weeks, I noticed a huge improvement. Now, I’m completely pain-free and have full mobility back – something I hadn’t experienced in years.

If you’re in pain and unsure where to turn, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. It’s not just treatment, it’s a total recovery plan.

Thank you for giving me my shoulder – and my life – back!

Edit 17.4.2025: Due to a ClassPass problem my original reservation didn’t show up in Optimum Physio reservation system and hence the office was closed and didn’t get any service that day.

However, Qasim fixed the situation and booked me another time to physiotherapy and I received a good tension relieving massage coupled with acupuncture that opened up my shoulder / back muscles and I feel a lot better now. Will definitely come again.

After turning my ankle on a park run and a couple of less than successful visits to the

After a terrible ankle injury in the summer and being told by the hospital I would recover in 3/6 weeks (and saw no improvement) I went to Eric who suggested I needed a full rehab plan and reset my expectations that my injury was more likely a 6 month recovery time.
I was really worried this would result in me losing my level of fitness and never fully getting back to my level of ability but after a really thorough and intense plan I am now at almost 100% recovery.
Eric has been great throughout, realistic with my expectations, firm with encouragement and really supportive in getting me back to where I wanted to be.
I cannot recommend him enough. Thank you Eric!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Sonia Dev at Physio Genius for many years now, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. I initially came to her for treatment of a persistent sciatica injury and thanks to her expertise and ongoing care, I’ve experienced tremendous relief and improvement over time.

From the very first session, she took the time to understand the root of the issue and tailored a treatment plan that addressed both the symptoms and the underlying cause. Her combination of hands-on therapy, guided exercises, and practical advice has been a game-changer for me.

What sets Dr. Dev apart is not just her skill as a physiotherapist, but also her compassion and attentiveness. She listens, adapts and always makes sure you feel supported on your healing journey. Sonia creates a warm, professional environment that makes every visit a positive experience.

I have been a client here for a little while, getting a few injuries sorted. Everyone has been amazing, Karen does an amazing job coordinating appointments and busy diaries, plus she is so friendly and caring. Alexander is amazing, clearly really experienced and knowledgeable, he makes sure you can keep doing what you enjoy and getting stronger and pain free in the process. He managed to identify my ailments and treat them when the GP appeared baffled by my symptoms. Couldn’t recommend this team more strongly and will continue to use their services whenever I have any injuries or niggles.

I have been receiving physio for the last 9 months at St Paul’s Physio and I cannot believe that they have been able to resolve problems that I’ve had for years. I cannot fault their level of care, knowledge and customer service. After going to previous physiotherapists who I have had a negative experience with, I am so lucky I found St Paul’s as I had begin to lose faith and trust in getting help with my health. Karen is always friendly and helpful, and Andy, my physiotherapist, is honestly amazing, I cannot recommend St Paul’s Physio enough.

Miracle worker!

I had two degenerative discs and one prolapsed disc in my neck and ended up in A&E 3 weeks after having my baby; unable to move. I couldn’t hold my baby as my arm and hand was numb, painful and tingly and all the muscles around my neck and down my back were extremely painful and medication wasn’t working, sitting and standing became unbearable. I had planned to have a nerve root block injection after seeing a consultant as that was recommended as the quickest way to recover. I went to see Alex a few days before my planned injection and he has been nothing short of incredible.

His straight talking, extensive knowledge and confidence has meant that after 7 sessions I am fully recovered and have not needed the high risk injection. I am now more knowledgeable to recognise and understand what I can and cannot do, how I manage it moving forward as well as being more perceptive about the muscles in and around my neck and back.

I cancelled the injection that was planned and after 2-3 sessions my neck had improved considerably. Alex enabled me to hold my baby again and look after him. We worked together on reducing amitriptyline as it made me very sleepy and I reduced it from 75mg to nothing.

I cannot recommend him enough, he is a true expert in his field and I put all my trust in him and he absolutely delivered.

St Paul’s Physio is so welcoming too, Karen is fab, they’re friendly, funny, sociable and caring and I will miss them as they became a bi-weekly part of my maternity leave. I would highly recommend Alex to anyone with any nerve problems in the neck or back.

I have received treatment from Alex, Andy and Arti over the last few months for lower back pain and sciatica. All therapists are extremely personable, highly skilled and professional. Most of my sessions have been with Arti who has been exceptional and very patient with me. Arti always puts my mind at rest and eases my anxiety and pain. Karen who manages the practice has also been exceptional. It is an absolute pleasure to visit the practice and be in the company of such amazing people. Thank you for everything you have done for me. You are all truly amazing human beings!

I went in with a pretty bad injury which stopped me from training. I tried the GP and all they said was rest for up to 8 weeks and take Ibuprofen. I went to the chiropractor for a second opinion and now, thanks to Gurjit and his proactive treatment plan, I’m back to my normal schedule a month later.

Also, my posture is better. I feel looser and stronger. I have a better range of motion. My grip strength in my left hand, which was weak from a previous injury, has improved by almost 10kg.

I went for the intensive treatment plan which was 2 sessions a week and it was 100% worth it. Definitely recommend.

I can’t thank Gurj enough! My mum had been struggling with vertigo for quite some time, and it was affecting her quality of life. After just a few sessions with Gurj, her symptoms improved dramatically. He took the time to thoroughly assess her condition and created a personalized treatment plan that worked wonders.

Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable, but he was also kind, patient, and made sure my mum felt comfortable throughout the entire process. The difference in her condition has been night and day. We are so grateful for his care and expertise, and I truly believe his treatment has made all the difference.

I highly recommend Gurj to anyone dealing with vertigo or any other chiropractic needs. He’s professional, welcoming, and dedicated to helping his patients feel better. Thanks again, Gurj! You’ve made such a positive impact on my mum’s health!

I’ve been going to see Gurj for the last 7 years and his service has been exceptional. He initially saw me to correct a bad back/pinched nerve….6-7 sessions later and the issue was resolved and I had full mobility restored. Since then I’ve seen Gurj every 3-4 months for more of an ‘MOT’…he’s helped with alignment issues and/or impact/muscle injuries. Gurj builds a reassuring rapport with his clients, is brilliant at what he does and offers great advice for home exercise/stretching

If you need an expert, he’s your guy. I’ve been with him for years and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The holistic treatments I have received from him have been the best. Thank you Gurj!

I’ve been visiting Gurj at Advanced Chiropractic and Physiotherapy in the Jewellery Quarter regularly for the past six years due to L4/L5 disc bulges, and I can’t recommend him enough. The consistent care and attention I’ve received from Gurj have been instrumental in managing my pain and improving my overall mobility.

Not only has my spinal mobility improved significantly, but this enhanced mobility has also allowed me to focus more on exercising, well-being, and eating healthy. Each visit starts with a thorough assessment, and Gurj always adapts my treatment plan based on my progress. His expertise in spinal health has made a noticeable difference in my daily life, helping me regain my active lifestyle.

Gurj is incredibly supportive and always takes the time to educate me on maintaining my spinal health between visits. The friendly atmosphere makes each session enjoyable, and I always leave feeling rejuvenated and motivated to take care of my overall health.

I would definitely recommend Chris. He took the time to understand the history of my injury, gave a manageable amount of exercises and gave helpful tips about managing flare ups. I’m on a journey of recovery, but definitely further on than I would have been without physio. Chris was friendly and professional throughout, with no pressure to block book appointments or have any more than I wanted.

Wojciech is simply the best physiotherapist I have ever encountered. He listens to his patients concerns and treats them accordingly, using a variety of techniques and equipment.
Unlike most therapists, who just seem to give a token gesture of physio and then hand you an extensive list of exercises for you to do: he is a very hands on physio: a proper, genuine, physical physiotherapist.
Absolutely outstanding service!

I suffered a knee injury shortly before Christmas. I was recommended to have physiotherapy to aid recovery. I contacted Tranquilty Clinic who arranged a same day appointment to assess the injury, but also impressively started treatment the same day. An excellent first impression.
My Psyiotherapist was called Amrita. She was brilliant. She was calm, professional, reassuring and most importantly made a real difference to my recovery. Follow up appointments were easy to arrange. Even over the Christmas and New Year period, Amrita made herself available to help me.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Amrita and Tranquility Physiotherapy.

Frequently Asked Questions about Physiotherapists in Birmingham

    What does a physiotherapist do?

Physiotherapists, also known as physical therapists, are healthcare professionals who help people affected by injury, illness, or disability to recover movement and function. They use a range of techniques including exercise prescription, manual therapy, and education to improve people’s lives. They work with individuals of all ages and with a wide range of conditions.

What types of conditions do physiotherapists treat?

Physiotherapists in Birmingham treat a diverse range of conditions. These include musculoskeletal problems like back pain, neck pain, and sports injuries; neurological conditions such as stroke and multiple sclerosis; cardiorespiratory conditions including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma; and pediatric conditions such as developmental delays. Post-operative rehabilitation is another area of expertise.

How do I find a qualified physiotherapist in Birmingham?

To find a qualified physiotherapist, you can start by checking with your GP for a referral. You can also search online directories like the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s website, which lists registered physiotherapists. It’s important to verify that the physiotherapist is registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) to ensure they meet the required standards of training and practice.

What is the difference between a physiotherapist and an osteopath?

While both professions focus on musculoskeletal issues, there are key differences. Physiotherapists typically have a more scientific approach, incorporating exercise prescription and evidence-based techniques. Osteopaths often focus on holistic treatment and use a variety of manual therapy techniques. It is advised to research both professions to understand which approach best suits your needs.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

Whether you need a referral depends on the type of care you are seeking. Some private clinics allow direct access, meaning you can book an appointment without a referral. However, if you are accessing NHS treatment, you will typically need a referral from your GP. Check the specific clinic’s policy.

What can I expect during my first physiotherapy appointment?

During your first appointment, the physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition. This will involve taking a detailed medical history, performing a physical examination, and discussing your goals for treatment. The physiotherapist will then develop a personalized treatment plan and explain it to you.

What types of treatment techniques do physiotherapists use?

Physiotherapists utilize a wide range of techniques. These include manual therapy (such as massage and joint mobilization), therapeutic exercise (designed to improve strength, flexibility, and range of motion), electrotherapy (using modalities like ultrasound or electrical stimulation), and patient education (providing guidance on posture, ergonomics, and self-management strategies).

How long does physiotherapy treatment typically last?

The duration of physiotherapy treatment can vary greatly depending on the nature and severity of the condition. Some individuals may only require a few sessions, while others may need several weeks or months of ongoing treatment. The physiotherapist will regularly review your progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.

What are the costs associated with physiotherapy treatment in Birmingham?

The cost of physiotherapy treatment varies based on factors like the physiotherapist's experience, the clinic’s location, and the type of treatment provided. NHS treatment is free at the point of access, but waiting times can be long. Private physiotherapy sessions typically range from £40 to £80 per session. Some clinics offer package deals or payment plans.

    Can physiotherapists work with children?

Yes, many physiotherapists specialize in pediatric physiotherapy. They work with children of all ages, addressing a range of conditions including developmental delays, cerebral palsy, musculoskeletal problems, and sports injuries. Pediatric physiotherapists adapt their techniques and communication style to meet the unique needs of children.
