St Martin's Counselling

8.0

St Martin's Counselling provides a valuable service to those seeking support. The therapists demonstrate a clear commitment to their clients’ well-being, fostering a space for vulnerability and growth. I've consistently heard reports regarding the skilled practitioners and their ability to build rapport, making the therapeutic process more accessible and effective for many.

While the therapeutic support is highly regarded, improvements in administrative processes would significantly enhance the overall experience. Streamlining communication and ensuring client information is handled with the utmost care and security are essential areas for development. Addressing these concerns would create a more seamless and reassuring experience for all those seeking help.

I would like to begin by saying how much I have valued the therapy I have received through St Martin’s. The therapists I have worked with have been consistently supportive and effective, and I am genuinely grateful for the help I have had. However, I do feel it is important to raise some concerns about the administrative side of the service. Communication from the admin team has often felt limited and at times unhelpful. For example, when payments have been an issue, the approach has felt more like a threat than a conversation about possible solutions or support. This has been difficult to navigate alongside the therapeutic process. In addition, there was a very serious matter where my personal information was shared in error, along with details of others using the service, through an email sent by your team. While mistakes can happen, there was no offer of redress or compensation, which has left me feeling that the impact of this breach was not taken seriously. I want to be clear that I respect and appreciate the therapeutic work itself, but I feel the administrative side of the service needs to be improved to match the quality of the therapy provided. I would appreciate a response on how these issues are being addressed and, in particular, what steps will be taken to ensure that client information is kept secure in future. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for the work you

The St Martins Counselling is a definite life changing experience, my counsellor "G" made me feel at ease and indeed i was able to relate / identify with from my first session, Counsellor "G" also provided me with user friendly written support each week, as well as my 1 hour therapy sessions which without doubt have given me a new and positive directive in life. Many thanks and a big hug to all those behind the scene who make the Therapy Service possible ,

I have nothing but positive things to share about my experience with St Martin's Counselling. It has been incredibly beneficial. I felt truly heard and supported, learning valuable strategies to manage my condition and build resilience. My counselor, G, tailored the sessions perfectly to my needs. She provided all the helpful information I needed, and her use of Socratic questioning was particularly impactful. This approach helped me reach my own conclusions and find solutions to my challenges. I left each session with tools to strengthen my resilience. My only regret is that it's only six sessions. I wholeheartedly recommend this service to anyone seeking genuine support and a listening ear.

I've never dealt with anyone worse at their admin. When I first applied it took them 3 months to get back to me, then the first counsellor used to not turn up to sessions and would send me a zoom link to do sessions through, but apparently that was incorrect and I never got an explanation from them on why she used to send me the incorrect log in details, they said they would look into it and they never got back to me. Their admin team books my sessions in on days they know in advance they are off like I the lead up to christmas/ new years/bank holidays, and they still book my sessions in and ive even called to confirm they are open and its defo going ahead and she said yes but that was a lie. And they let me turn up for my appointments not telling that actually they're off. They booked me in for my last app this morning and never sent me a link I mean its an absolute joke, yes they're a charity but end of the day its still a paid service and you dont half ass booking an appointment. Extreme lack of care from their admin staff and volunteers to mess around with anyone's appointment like this in the industry they're in. My last counsellor was amazing and I was making progress with her but when admin is so bad and they make life more stressful than it should be it creates a negative experience. Oh and instead of correcting their bad admin they chose to dismiss me bcs thats obvs the easiest option rather than be accountable and correct the negative experience you constantly offer

St Martin’s counselling has been an amazing experience. I have worked with Lisa on and off for almost a year and I can’t express how grateful I am to work with her. Her skill set is amazing and it really allows me to understand my thoughts and the sensitive subjects that I expose, she truly is a wonderful asset to the St Martin’s counselling team and I don’t think words can describe how much her expertise have positively changed my life thank you, Lisa Jayson

ok, bare with me a long one! ive never been a fan of therapy. i was raised amongst strong independant women, whose motto in life was just get on with it fight through. my daughter was receiving therapy for a long time differant therapsits and from different organisations through the years. my daughter came here. first she saw kathleen who helped her massively. on her second round of sessions she was seeing rachel. i cannot recommend rachek enough not only did she massively help my daughter, but one session i was waiting in the waiting room and rachel took one look at me and asked a very simple question. Are you ok? no one had asked me that in all the waiting rooms ive sat in no one! well after a 5 minute conversation and fighting a few tears back. i signed up. I cannot recommend Rachel enough she broke through my rock hard armour and trust issues abd cinvinced me i needed help. i really did i was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted and i was locked in a nightmare i couldnt see a way out of. Rachel listens she really hears you, she will arm you with the tools you need to fight your inner demons, and help you unlock the ones u didnt know you even had/held onto. Needing Therapy is not being weak its showing strength. showing you refuse to live in the darkness anymore. i cant explain to you in words how different i feel now from before. I've met a lot of therapists but Rachel was the one that got through my stuborn armour. I will be forever grateful for her help and support.

I've had cbt counselling for things that have happened in my past and I'd been contemplating suicide before these counselling sessions.A lady called Monroope has been amazing. I no longer have them thoughts and if I do I have the tools now to deal with it and manage it myself . These people volunteer to do this to help other people out. I can't thank them enough. Would highly recommend.
