I have shared an amazing experience with Taran as my coach. Taran shown her support and professional make up skills in the 1-1 sessions, to finesse my basic make up skills. Taran shared multiple skills and gave me understanding on how to use different types of make up techniques on different skin types. She would set me challenges, to take me out of my own “comfort” zone to help push my skills and understanding of make up application. Taran has great energy and positive attitude, which will changed my mind set from thinking I cannot become a professional make up artist, to I can become and will become a professional make up artist. She will not let you fail. I would recommend anyone this coaching program, as it is so versatile, from 1-1 sessions to online training programs. There is no secret kept to help you become a successful makeup artist.

I recently had my wedding ceremony and I came across Taran’s work on instagram. I wanted to get extensions added to my hair.
I had no idea what I wanted, just a photo. Taran really gave me more than expected and left me in shock after the results. She added weight, thickness and length to my hair beautifully.

At the start I booked a consultation with her which was quick and easy as she talked me through the process. When I visited Taran what I loved most was her honesty. I had my hair highlighted from another establishment and after applying the toner they left me with a green tint to my hair which she noticed straight away! Taran’s professionalism to handle the situation with that establishment was unreal, something she didn’t have to do for me but she wasn’t letting anything ruin my big day!
They had to re tone my hair only leaving Taran with 2 days to match my hair extension colour, the ordering process and fitting!! Can I just say she really did make dreams come true for me. She matched 3 colours perfectly with my highlights, she knew the perfect length I needed for my vision and after fitting wow they didn’t even look like extensions. I was very very happy with the results and she really left everyone at my event in wows, even a week after the event I get so many compliments on my hair and how amazing my highlight are and when I say they are extensions, everyone says it’s shocking how perfect colour match they are.

Taran is amazing at what she does, and provides so many other services. I haven’t just found an amazing beauty therapist but also an honest human-being. She could have matched extensions to my horribly toned hair but no she helped me create the perfect look for my big day and kept me going even when I almost gave up! I highly recommended Taran for all your beauty needed you really won’t be disappointed!!

Absolutely loved having Nicola as my hair and make up artist on my wedding day! I did have two trials with her, I loved both looks but after the first felt like something was missing still and she was more than accommodating and helpful in giving me the bridal look I wanted. I loved my hairstyle so much and usually I don’t do much eye make up because I can’t get it to stay on for long enough, but she created a soft smoky eye look that lasted the whole day and didn’t even budge when we had a bit of rain! She also did the hair and make up of my mother and mother of the groom and they looked amazing! It was so lovely to see the boost it gave them and Nicola made them feel happy and relaxed in the chair while she got to work. When you choose your make up artist it’s not just about the work that they do, it’s finding someone who fits in with your day who matches your vibe! It really does affect how you feel and everyone said I was so chilled getting ready and I think part of that was down to knowing I was in such good hands and having someone who was lovely as well as professional that I didn’t need to worry about a thing 🙂

I had my hair & makeup done by Zan & it was absolutely stunning. My only ‘complaint’ is that she wasn’t available to do my wedding makeup!

My hair looked amazing & stayed ‘done’ for days & I didn’t want to wash off my makeup. I had a subtly dramatic smokey eye that wasn’t overpowering & was true skill!

I had the privilege of being accepted onto the short course at Makup last year and it was amazing. Veronica is a brilliantly talented artist and a kind and patient tutor. I already had some basic training in Film and TV hair and makeup so the top up course was perfect for me. With Veronica’s input, I refined my skills, learned loads of useful tips and tricks that can be applied in a variety of situations and expanded my portfolio to help me gain work in the industry. I have since worked on 2 films due to Veronica’s industry contacts and I feel confident I will have a long and successful career as a direct result of doing this course. Had I have known about this school sooner, I would very much liked to have done the full course as I can’t imagine a better place to learn the trade. I wholeheartedly recommend this school to anyone that is serious about having a career in the film and television hair and makeup industry.

As a recent graduate from the MAKUP Academy, I am filled with accomplishment, confidence and the knowledge to begin my career as a Hair and Makeup Trainee. Veronica is the most amazing hair and make-up artist I have met whose passion for her job is truly inspiring. Veronica’s set of skills go way beyond just hair and makeup; she is talented, ambitious, hard working and creative. Not only is she truly gifted at her job but she dedicates so much time, energy and patience to her students to the extent that you feel you are getting one to one tuition.

Veronica will always push you striving for perfection. I believe this standard of teaching is not something you will get at any other institute, but only at MAKUP Academy. The amount of time and energy veronica puts in for her students will not be given anywhere else.

From completing the course, I have already received two weeks work experience on a BBC production called Father Brown, I have worked on a film with Veronica herself called An American Exorcism, and I have just completed work experience on an RTE production called Bridget and Eamon in Ireland. The contacts I have received on all productions have been invaluable. Since I have finished the course, I have gained a lot of experience in the TV and Film industry and I am now starting to get paid work, and this is thanks to Veronica’s tuition.

I have had so much fun at MAKUP Academy, it has been one of the best experiences in my life to date. There is no doubt in mind that MAKUP Academy stands out from any other course. If you want to succeed in the TV and Film industry this is the course for you.

My experience at the Makup Academy has been incredible! Doing the intensive 4 month set ready course has nurtured and improved my skill base dramatically. Veronica is a first class tutor and I feel privileged to have someone with so much talent, industry experience and passion to be my mentor. I have recently completed The Intensive Set Ready Course. It consisted of 4 months of intensive training covering a range of different skills and techniques covered in Film and Media Makeup. This was a complete career change for me as the last 10 years of my working life have largely revolved around the pharmaceutical industry and community pharmacy. I was extremely lucky to have trained under Veronica McAleer. She spent a great deal of her time teaching me techniques that she has learnt in the industry and imparting her knowledge and skills on her trainees. I had an amazing time as Veronica gives her all in one-to-one sessions with her students.

For me, Veronica’s courses were preferable as I have other commitments like being a busy mum and wife. The 4 months went incredibly fast, and it is exactly as described, intensive. I gave it my all and put everything I had into it as this was something completely new for me. I can now successfully produce finger waves which I loved creating for my final shoots and feel very proud of what I achieved. Veronica kept me on track, and I am grateful for all the wisdom she passed on during each of the modules. I was pushed to produce high quality and professional looks that would pass in the real industry and on production sets.

After completing the course, I now have a better understanding of what it takes to be a Film and TV Makeup trainee. I am looking forward to widening my skillset and gaining work experience within the industry. It was great being involved in the Makup Academy training environment. I was given the opportunity to meet and train with talented professionals and other trainees. Veronica also gave me the opportunity to work with some previous students at a fashion show which I was very grateful for. Here I had the opportunity to put my skills which I learnt at the academy into practice.
