MidlandsGrizzlys offers a truly exceptional dog training experience. The focus is clearly on building a strong, positive relationship between owner and dog, rather than just teaching commands. The team’s approach fosters understanding and provides owners with the tools they need to confidently manage their dog’s behavior and address specific challenges. It appears their methods prioritize a well-rounded training solution.
The emphasis on canine psychology and individualized attention is particularly impressive. It creates a supportive environment where dogs can thrive, regardless of their individual temperaments or prior experiences. The commitment to consistent, positive reinforcement is evident and leads to remarkable progress and noticeable improvements in both the dog’s and the owner’s confidence.

Have completed the obedience and the off lead training with Adam, and it has made a massive difference to our Romanian rescue dog Bramble. Amazing difference even after the first lesson, and the off lead training has been a revelation. Bramble is so happy when he is off the lead, and so am I as I know I can control him, but still let him enjoy himself.
Sessions were always enjoyable and Adam makes effort to give individual feedback to all, as well as giving useful nuggets of information on all sorts of aspects of dog ownership. Socialising with other dogs made a big difference too, from tiny dogs to very large!! All added to the overall experience.
Would highly recommend.

I can not recommend Adam and MidlandsGrizzlys highly enough. From the very first session, it was clear that this isn’t just another dog training company — it’s an exceptional service that combines deep knowledge of canine psychology with real, practical training methods that actually work.
I have now trusted Adam with two of my dogs, each with very different temperaments, personalities, and needs. What impressed me the most is how adaptable and skilled Adam is in tailoring his training to each dog as an individual. Both of my dogs have completed the Obedience Programme, and the results have been nothing short of incredible. The transformation in their focus, behaviour, and responsiveness was clear from the very first few sessions.
I am now enrolled in the Off-Lead Programme, and once again, Adam’s expertise and patient, structured approach are shining through. The level of control, trust, and communication he helps you build with your dog is second to none. He doesn’t just train your dog — he teaches you how to understand and work with your dog on a deeper level, which makes all the difference.
Adam’s professionalism, passion, and dedication to the dogs is evident in every session. He strikes the perfect balance between firm, fair guidance, and encouragement, ensuring that both you and your dog feel supported every step of the way. His ability to explain canine psychology in a way that owners can understand is invaluable, and it gives you the confidence to continue reinforcing the training outside of the sessions.
It’s no surprise to me that MidlandsGrizzlys is rated among the top 3 in the UK — they absolutely deserve it. Adam has exceeded my expectations every single time, and the progress I’ve seen with both of my dogs has been life-changing.
If you are looking for dog training that truly delivers, with a trainer who genuinely cares and goes above and beyond, Adam at MidlandsGrizzlys is the one to trust. I would never go anywhere else!! I Honestly can’t thank them enough.

CHARLIE AND ELLA.
We couldn’t recommend Adam more!
We were at breaking point with our dog’s reactivity and aggressive towards other dogs, whilst he was on lead- we had to avoid dogs at all costs- walking the other way, or hiding in a bush, until they went by, distracting with food/ toys, 50 different types of lead, we tried everything! 60 out of 61 dogs, he would react towards and we couldn’t work out why. Was he scared, was he dominant? We had no idea how to fix him. We were at the point of we can’t do this anymore… The embarrassment we felt each time and the worry he would just keep getting worse. I remember feeling overwhelmed at some of our first sessions as we were desperate. We worked with 3 different trainers before Adam and no one was able to fix Charlie’s problem.
BUT NOW, We have a completely different dog and now maybe 1 in 60 dogs he reacts too but only if the other dog reacts to him first.
After the reactivity programme, we did the off lead programme, which has meant we are able to have him off lead, running around living his best life.
We went on holiday and had them off lead on the beach at all times and had no worries about having control of our dogs- which allowed them to enjoy freedom
Furthermore, Adam has given us the skills and knowledge to train our 10 month old puppy. She is a dream… no long lines getting tangled up…
Not saying we didn’t have to put in a lot of hard work and time in, but a million percent it has paid off. With the support, encouragement, critique and pointers, during our sessions. Knowing what to work on week by week, gave us goals to reach. It has completely changed our lives.
Thank you so much Adam.

After only 2 home visits and one 1-2-1 off lead session, we’ve seen incredible improvements with our 8 month old working Labrador. Currently strolling round the lake district without a worry. Adam’s help has been brilliant and delivered immediate results. Cannot fault one bit. We’ve signed up for the obedience class and will move immediately onto off lead once completed. Would highly recommend Adam if you’re looking for fast results and excellent service

An outstanding trainer who delivers exceptional results. Adam’s expertise in dog behaviour and training is clear from the very first session. He has an effective, no-nonsense approach that works wonders. After completing his obedience and off-lead course, our whippet pup is incredibly well-behaved. A wholehearted recommendation for any dog owner seeking a top-tier professional. Can’t recommend him high enough, totally exceeded my expectations!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I found Adam at Midlands Grizzly’s when desperately searching for behavioural support for my dog, who was struggling with severe anxiety and reactivity. At the time, she had been placed on high doses of anxiety medication and I was deeply concerned about relying on that long term.
Even after just the first session with Adam, I felt something I hadn’t in a long time – hope. Hope that my dog’s anxiety could genuinely improve and she could live a calmer, happier life and that my own confidence and technique as a handler could grow too. Adam’s calm, structured approach and deep understanding of dog behaviour and psychology gave us both exactly what we needed.
By the end of the initial session, my dog was calmly walking around an incredibly large group of other dogs (most of them much larger than her too) something that would have been completely unimaginable before.
The training environment is professional, supportive and focused on real-world results. I wasn’t just given advice – I was taught how to lead my dog with clarity and confidence.
I’m so grateful to Adam and the team at Midlands Grizzly’s and I cannot wait to see the impact of our future sessions over the coming weeks and months. If you’re facing behavioural issues and want real, lasting change – this is where you go. ✨
Bonus: She slept the entire 1-hour drive home… and for the rest of the day! Usually, she’s frantic, panicked and a panting mess whenever we go in the car – so that alone speaks volumes.

Our dogs first training day with Adam at MidlandGrizzly’s
We could see the difference in our dog within the two hours we were there.
He’s very polite and knowledgeable in all aspects of Dog Training and how to get the best from your pet.
Lots of other Dog owners on same training ground with all types and breeds of dogs, everyone we spoke with said that Adam had been fabulous with their pet, and themselves, teaching owners how to look after, and how to behave around their own pet
Highly recommended just from our first visit.
Fabulous 2nd training day for our Bailey, he’s such a different dog from a few weeks ago.
Thank you

Amanda has been great with helping me to train my puppy Border Terrier, Thor. Helping with greeting people and dogs has been fantastic still a work in progress but so much better with the tips from Amanda. Walking to heel, never thought that would happen but Thor was doing this after just 1 session. On our last session we walked in the park with Thor mostly off lead again never believed that I would be able to do this. Amanda has given Thor and me the confidence to continue with our training and I know that she is there in the future if I need help. Would throughly recommend especially if you have a puppy, I have had dogs before but learnt so much in the 7 sessions with Amanda.

We found Claire at Our Love For Dogs through a request on a local FB page for recommendations of a dog trainer. Amongst the “Good luck with that, paid a fortune for a trainer and it’s not helped” there was a recommendation for Claire. We had decided we needed a trainer for our 13 month old Australian Service Dog Gabriel after it had taken my OH 90 minutes to put his lead back on him after a play at the park. There were a few other issues, not walking to heel, he’d managed to pull both of us over whilst on his lead and we could only walk him on a figure of eight lead which he hated and we didn’t like using either.
My OH really wasn’t on board as he felt he could cope with Gabriel’s “naughtiness” but I dreaded taking him out and wouldn’t let him off his lead to play. If I’m honest I also doubted 8 hours would be enough to make much difference to our puppy’s behaviour.
Claire has been a Godsend. Right from the first session she has had Gabriel quite literally eating out of her hand. Our circumstances are a bit unique in that we live on a narrowboat travelling constantly. We don’t always have access to a suitable or safe environment to train our dog. Claire took all this on board (no pun intended) and came up with ways around certain issues.
The difference in Gabriel after just one hours training with Claire was amazing. For the first time I had the confidence to let him off to run in the park wearing a training lead and he would come back to me if I called him. Again after one session spent on heel training he will now walk to heel pretty much all the time.
As we were only staying in Birmingham for 5 weeks Claire has had to sometimes visit us twice in one week. This has meant we have not had a week to work on Gabriel in between her visits but the improvement is immense and I feel that she has equipped us with everything we need to go forward with his training.
Claire has been an absolute delight, cheerful and positive. Gabriel loves her and is beside himself when she comes for his lessons and wants to follow her when she leaves. I know he would cheerfully recommend her and we would too!

The impact Claire had was significant, even after the first session. The tailored training, starting at home and progressing to the park, has been great for Griffin.
The positive approach has been effective and Griffin really enjoys the sessions. I highly recommend Our Love For Dogs, especially for puppy owners.
With Claire’s help, we now understand our pup better and he understands us better too, resulting in a happier and better-behaved pup.

I can’t thank Claire enough for all the support and guidance she’s given. Archie’s behaviour has really improved and he loved working with Claire, as did I. Training focused on positive reinforcement of Archie’s behaviour and was always relevant to what I wanted to work on. We worked on training in the house, garden and used local parks to introduce new environments and stimulus. Claire would check in with us throughout the week as to how training was going and provided pictures and videos to support us. I would fully recommend Claire and For the Love of Dogs training.

Toby had had three previous homes and had been extremely reactive. We were really worried we would be able to be the best help to him and we’re a bit scared of him at times! Today we completed our journey with Claire. From not being able to leave the house to go to a neighboring road to being able to take him on holiday with us we are grateful to say that we have a much happier dog and feel much more confident owners. Heed Claire’s education and input and your dog can have a much less stressful life following trauma or lack of training. Thank you Claire for keeping our dog safe and calmer.

We’re halfway through our 10 week course working with Claire to train our 10 month old Cockapoo, Bluebell and could not recommend her enough.
Bluebell is a high energy pup who loves people and to play. We’ve been working with Clare to teach Bluebell to keep calm, learn some puppy manners and to settle/ play independently when we’re working from home and can honestly say she’s come on leaps and bounds. She is an overall much calmer dog who lets us work/ watch tv in the evenings together/takes herself to bed in her crate and has started to walk much better on her lead. She’s more focussed and you can see her listening to our commands and making her decisions.
She’ll always be a bouncy, bubbly dog but it’s amazing to see her be more calm, listen to our commands and most importantly have fun and enjoy her training. It’s also been really east to integrate the training into our lives and we’re having great fun too. We can’t wait to see her growth over the next few weeks but are already so impressed! Thanks so much Claire!

We had Lola at 7 wks old at the end of December, she turned out to be really naughty and aggressive, we thought a few times we’d have to get rid, but we didn’t want to give up. I contacted Love For Dogs and was given a date, so started her training end of may. Since Simon has been training Lola, she has turned into a different dog all together. She is obedient and very friendly to us and everyone else. We couldn’t have done this without the support from Simon. They are brilliant at what they do and I definitely recommend them to any one that is thinking about getting there dog trained. Don’t give up as we never and the results are well worth the money and patience. 5 star service all around. Thank you very much OUR LOVE FOR DOGS

We have been taking Teddy to Sheldon dog services to be groomed and I cannot recommend them enough! Teddy is very anxious, yet there has never been any issues with his groom and always comes out looking lovely. After having a bad experience with a previous groomer, I feel very comfortable knowing that Teddy is in safe hands here! Definitely recommend upgrading to the Halloween package too, the photos are lovely and teddy smells amazing!

Andrejus is a very dog trainer, very knowledgeable and thorough in his assessments. Juno, my 9 months old Dutch Shepherd went for a 4 weeks board and train residential and she learnt a lot during that time. She came back a lot more obedient, able to walk off leash and with a perfect street walk. During her stay. Andrejus sent several videos each day to show my her progress, explaining what he was doing and why it was mattered. Since she’s been back, Andrejus has regularly reached out to check in on us and has always answered any questions I’ve had. If you are looking for a balanced dog trainer who clearly is passionate about dogs, I would highly recommend Andrejus!

Throughout the entire process, I received regular updates, videos, and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was clear my dog was not only learning but also being loved and cared for like one of their own.
The progress my dog made in such a short time is truly amazing, and it’s all thanks to their expert training, consistency, and support. They also took the time to guide me on how to maintain the training at home, which has made the transition so smooth.
Thank you for everything — your passion and professionalism shine through in every detail. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares and delivers outstanding results, look no further!

We sent our Rottweiler, Rocky, to Andrejus for a 4-week training program and couldn’t be happier with the results. Rocky came back noticeably more obedient, calmer, and much easier to manage both at home and out on walks.
Andrejus was professional, patient, and clearly knows how to get the best out of dogs while still keeping training fun and positive. He kept us updated throughout Rocky’s stay, which gave us a lot of confidence and reassurance.
We’ve already noticed a huge difference in Rocky’s behaviour since coming home, and we feel like we now have the right tools and guidance to keep building on his progress.
I’d highly recommend Andrejus to anyone looking for a skilled and trustworthy trainer – he did a great job with Rocky.

We have adored the online content (and any training) Mandy provides! Her knowledge and joy is evident.
Our little sausage went to Mandy’s classes but when we moved it was just too far.
To be able to continue the scentwork journey is much appreciated.
You can do the modules at your own pace.
It’s a wealth of ideas to engage your dog, wonderful in this heat.
We have found it builds such a great bond, and she is exhausted after too!

Wife & I are sat here discussing this and we can’t find anything Amit could have improved on. Amit listened to us and what we wanted to achieve he didn’t force a standard procedure on us he tailored the training to help us achieve the goal we wanted. He was professional at all times. We’d recommend him to anyone, he’s helped us take Lloydie from pulling pain to a dog we are literally comfortable with in any location.
Thanks Amit we look forward to seeing you when we get Lloydie a younger brother or sister soon

We can’t recommend Woofology highly enough! We rescued our dog last year and he came with a few challenges — pulling on the lead & darting out the front door were our first biggest priorities for the training!
From the very first session, Amit was calm, clear, and incredibly knowledgeable. He introduced us to clicker training, which worked wonders, and gave us practical, manageable steps to build better habits — both for the dog and for us as owners!
Following the sessions our dog walked so much better on the lead, actually sitting and waiting before going out the front door (a miracle!). You can tell Woofology truly understands dog psychology and tailors the training to each dog’s needs. His passion is contagious and I felt so comfortable with him, it was like we’d known Amit forever.
Thank you for all your help!!!

Woofology: A Game Changer for Me and My Pup
I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Amit through Woofology—he’s not just an amazing dog trainer, he’s a true partner in helping your dog thrive. As an accredited IMDT trainer, Amit brings professionalism and expertise, but what really sets him apart is his deep passion for dogs and his holistic approach.
When I first reached out, my Labrador was an anxious little soul at just 12 weeks. A few barks from other dogs made walks unbearable—he’d pull, refuse to pee or poo anywhere but the garden, and even struggled to get into the car. It was heartbreaking.
Then Amit came over for an initial consultation—and everything changed. He doesn’t just train your dog, he trains you too! Within just one hour, my puppy was happily jumping into the car. Amit even brought his dog Elio into the mix, which worked wonders.
Walks are now a joy, and my puppy absolutely adores Amit. His knowledge of nutrition and supplements has also made a huge difference in our journey.
I’m still having sessions with Amit because let’s be honest, training is often more for the humans than the dogs!
If you’re looking for a more fulfilled life with your dog, don’t hesitate. Amit and Woofology are truly life changing. Forever grateful for your support and patience, Amit.

He has helped us with multiple struggles we had with Finn and we have made so much fantastic progress. Finn was very reactive to other dogs and had a bite history. I never thought he’d be able to be close to other dogs but yesterday he was able to meet Amit’s dog Elio without even reacting. The difference in Finn is amazing. He’s been so much better on walks and I can’t thank Amit enough for all of his help. I would 100% reccommend woofology dog training to anyone who needs help with thier dog.

We took our puppy Leo to the Woofology group classes which were excellent and we & Leo learnt so much from each class. Amit & Rebecca made sure that each dog learned each of the cues no matter how long it took. Leo also had a lot of fun socialising and playing with other dogs in the secure dog fields used for group classes’ location.
We also had a one-to-one session with Amit at our house and he was brilliant in helping Leo master the basics and helped accelerate Leo’s toilet-training.
So many of our friends and family have commented on how well-trained Leo is compared to their own dogs and/or how challenging they found it to train their own dogs and we credit a large part of Leo’s good behaviour to Woofology. Highly recommend Amit and Woofology

Woofology are hands down the most caring and knowledgeable trainers I’ve ever had the fortune of working with.
Ive spend thousands of pounds on dog training, with companies that claimed they were positive reinforcement trainers, but until I worked with Woofology, I didn’t realize what positive reinforcement really was.
Don’t waste your time and money whilst putting your dog under unnecessary mental and physical stress by working with the wrong trainers.
My adopted and traumatized German Shepard was highly reactive to other dogs and within a few sessions he’s been able to make his first ever dog friend who he know loves. He’s been much better on walks and both the one on ones and group classes have been incredibly helpful.
Woofology has changed both my and my dog’s life in a lasting and truly positive way. I can’t recommend them enough.

I have two staffies who are 3 & 6 and have never been left with anyone except family before. I was super nervous to leave them as my boy, Vinnie, can be reactive. I just wasn’t sure how they would get on because these are two pups who sleep in bed with me and have endless cuddles. I left them for 9 nights and Kirstie emailed me to let me know that they had settled in perfectly well. When I picked them up, they looked super happy and well looked after. They were happy to see me, but honestly I think they were just happy in general. It was too hot for exercising so they just had short walks, but had frozen licky mats and kongs to keep them entertained. I cannot recommend Karenswood highly enough. It really did take the stress away from leaving them. Thank you to the whole team for looking after Bella and Vinnie. They even had a brush before we went home and a spritz of doggy perfume, so they smelt lovely.

We booked our two beloved dogs here for one night, we were very nervous to leave them as our Labrador has unpredictable aggression and they handled him perfectly. We were very happy to see them come back to us the same as how we left them as previous kennels they came back smelling so badly and dying for some water. We will definitely be coming back here for as long as they can deal with our lab!

Absolutely excellent kennels!
We have 2 mini bull terriers who love it here and run into reception when we arrive.
One of our dogs has anxious tendencies but acclimatised really well and I would say his confidence and behaviour has improved since he’s started staying here. He is also more tolerant of other dogs.
If you are reading this and worrying about putting your sensitive dog in kennels, don’t! It is the best thing we ever did for us and our dogs.
Kirsty and team are highly professional and leave you with confidence to go away on holiday worry and guilt free. We wouldn’t take them anywhere else now.

My dog was exceptionally well looked after (and apparently has quite the fan base amongst the staff, too) – the prices are at the higher end of the spectrum, but the quality of care and attention absolutely warrants it. I have every intention of using their services again.

We were nervous of putting our rescue puppy into kennels. But she had a great time & ate well. We were given updates when we rang. She seemed to of built a bond with the man that was walking her daily. Would definitely recommend and would take her back there again if ever needed.

We have a very nervous Romanian rescue dog, who is not good around new people and situations. The staff at Karenswood have always been excellent in understanding her needs and behaviour and have shown patience and care of a high standard. I always know she will be happy when she stays at the Kennels and when I fetch her she doesn’t seem stressed. I would definitely recommend the kennels.

I took my 8 years old dog Finn, a Shih Tzu, to Paws Here yesterday. I’m not sure what superlatives I can use about James except to say he’s a miracle worker!! The last 15 months have been rough for Finn, the groomer who we had always been to started messing us about, I found another groomer who after just two visits I swore I’d never take him back to, they literally traumatised him. They made Finn very reactive when he went to any groomer, he just didn’t want to go!! We went back to our original groomer, big mistake as he started to mess around with us again. I don’t think that turning up for an appointment and sitting there for 15 minutes and him not turning up, with no phone call, no apology is the way to treat your customers, or run a business! I found yet another groomer, who while Finn would let her groom his body, she wasn’t getting near his face. I actually took Finn to the vets to have his face dematted because he almost couldn’t see anything (he wouldn’t let me do his face either, believe me I’d tried). After two missed appointments at the groomers, Finns fault, not the groomers, I was desperate to find a male groomer – Finns original groomer is a male and he reacts better to men – a friend recommended James and Paws Here. The difference in Finn is amazing, he wouldn’t let James do all his face but the fact that he let him do what he did is incredible. It’s been almost 9 months since he’s let anyone touch his face! He’s so happy in himself, he was dancing in the kitchen waiting for his breakfast this morning, he hasn’t done that for a long time. I shed a few tears yesterday when I collected him, I couldn’t believe how much he’d let James do. We’ll be back to see James in 8 weeks time and, hopefully, he’ll let James do more of his face. Thank you James, you have made me, let alone Finn, feel better!!

It was the first time I have taken my dog Marley, to be groomed here.
The staff were lovely, really gentle and calm. He went in looking like a scruff bag and came out looking so smart and handsome. They did a fabulous job on him.

Picked my dog up for them to tell me they cut his nail down to short and he was bleeding! Not to mention his paw looks sore! Clearly my dog was not given water whilst being there and locked in a crate when I arrived clearly in distress! Would not recommend at all! Needs closing down!! No place for a dog!!!!

Having been going here with previous dogs I thought that this was a groomers that I could trust, so I have a cane corso 7 months old and was taken here to be groomed at the cost of £35 which i felt was really reasonable, after being in the shop talking to James he really knew a lot of stuff and very informative. Anyways my partner picked the dog back up and paid.
After seeing my dog from being at the groomers you could see his face hadn’t been cleaned, ears wasn’t cleaned and he now has a shaven spot on his back near his tail which is shorter than the rest of his coat. I really dont know what happened and James hadn’t mentioned nothing when my partner picked him up.
Im extremely disappointed in this service and I will not be bringing my dog here again as I feel this is disgusting and definitely won’t be recommending him to anyone in the future
Hight upset by this experience.

James is by far the best trainer and groomer we have come across. He’s has helped us so much with our Cockapoo and his training style is everything I agree with. Pre James , we worked with a trainer who used a more corrective approach such as tapping on the nose and showing dominance through shouting for unwanted behaviour. This backfired and our loving pooch became more and more reactive.
We reached out to James who uses a positive reinforcement approach who has spent so much time helping us reverse this aggression and given us our gorgeous dog back!
He loves going into the groomers too and comes out smelling wonderful. 10/10 recommend.

Mandy is so helpful – she gave me tonnes of advice on the phone about a potential adoption, despite having never met me! She was kind and patient, polite and very knowledgeable. Even though we decided that particular dog would be better off with more experienced owners, we have found another rescue and will DEFINITELY still be enlisting Mandy’s help with training! I am looking forward to working with her. She is very thorough and seems to just really care about the dogs and their owners. She was very easy to get hold of and lovely to chat to!

Having waited a long time to introduce a puppy to our family we acknowledged there was a lot we didn’t know and that the world had changed. Concerned about getting it right we met with Mandy and followed her 1-2-1 Puppy Parenting Package. I cannot recommend her more! After meeting with her we felt informed, supported, confident and happy. We felt so prepared when our puppy arrived and have enjoyed the easiest settling in process. More than anything Mandy gave us confidence to fully enjoy the experience and believe in ourselves. Thank you Mandy we really are so grateful.

I contacted Mandy after my Labrador dog Max began suffering from separation anxiety once covid restrictions were lifted and I started to leave him on his own whilst going on shopping trips etc. I enrolled for the Separation Anxiety course as Max’s unpredictable behaviour became increasingly distressing. From our first phone conversation Mandy instilled confidence and delivered the course in the most professional, empathetic, calm and supporting way that resulted in Max (and me!!) becoming significantly less stressed, and me being able to leave him for reasonable periods on his own. Thank you Mandy, your help is so appreciated!!

I would highly recommend these classes. I have a new rescue dog and the improvement in his confidence (and mine!) since taking part in the class is amazing. Mandy is an excellent trainer, she was really accomodating to my dogs anxiety and really understanding of his behaviour. Mandy consistently provided great advice, knowledge and practical tips throughout the classes which was invaluable to me and my dog.

Mandy has been fantastic giving me so much advice to settle my new puppy. I had a zoom Puppy Parenting session before I picked my puppy up where she went through so many topics that I felt well prepared for my little bundle of fun. The first two days were a little difficult but Mandy was there for me throughout. Now just a week on and my puppy has settled really well due to the fact that I was able to put in place most of her recommendations regarding, food, toys, treat and keeping a diary. I wish I lived near enough to be able to continue doing all my puppy training with her. Thank you Mandy

Started ‘older puppy’ training with Mandy when my pupster was 9 months old, following lock down etc- It was a great way to socialise and meet like minded Doggy parents! Over the year(s) we joined Scent academy and I started to realise that my furbaby was a little anxious when I left the house (or the room) So – chatted with Mandy and started the Separation Anxiety training.
Its commitment but WOW – It’s taken weeks and weeks but WOW. The difference is that now I can leave the house (for an hour) and be happy that my boy will not be in a state of anxiety – With Mandy’s very professional advice and guidance we (i felt) sailed through the programme with very little set back. It was all so straightforward and set out for your individual pupster
The difference in my boys whole demeanour has demonstrated how anxiety affects them all the time and not just when separated !
I honestly cannot thank Mandy enough – she really does give 100% plus to you and can tailor plans based on individual needs.
Highly recommend this programme for anyone with an anxious furbaby – It will change their lives (and yours)
Thank you Mandy

We had an excellent experience with Mandy who helped us with our dog’s extreme separation anxiety. Over a six-week tailored course specific to Bailey, we went from a dog who couldn’t be left for more than two seconds without anxiety to one who would settle comfortably and be relaxed for 15 minutes’ absence. In the week since that milestone, we’ve already increased that to 30 minutes using the tools Mandy and Yes! Good Dog have taught us. We couldn’t have imagined this just a few months ago and it’s made such a huge difference to all of us, including Bailey, who knows we’ll always come back to him and who can relax in his own company.
Mandy’s responsiveness and excellent advice were always on hand when we needed it, with weekly video calls to monitor progress and a programme that was tailored so that we never moved beyond Bailey’s own threshold of what he could manage, which is completely different to a one-size-fits-all approach and which simply wouldn’t have worked. We couldn’t have done this without Mandy and have already recommended Yes! Good Dog to a family member with similar issues.

I can’t say enough great things about Jen! From day one, she had great communication, was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly warm. We used the puppy training service as first time dog owners we didn’t really know where to start. Jen took the time to understand our puppy’s personality and tailored the training to fit our needs, which made the whole process feel very personal. She answered all our questions and made the training fun, even involving the children to help. Not only did our pup learn so much, but we also gained confidence as owners thanks to the clear guidance and helpful tips. It’s clear how much Jen genuinely cares about both dogs and their people. I would highly recommend this service to anyone looking for a patient, skilled, and caring puppy trainer! Thanks Jen, we’d have really struggled without you!

Cannot recommended Kingsway Canines enough! Jen has been amazing with our very nervous Romanian rescue. As many intro walks as it took, and even went running with her to build confidence and trust! They really go the extra mile to make sure your dog has the best time and is well looked after. Love the little pics and videos they send as well.

Jen is absolutely amazing! She is very knowledgeable when it comes to puppers and both our fur babies love her. They don’t even get that excited when I walk through the door! Honestly, the woman is magic! Not just a dog walker and trainer (an an excellent one at that!) but also an absolute gem of a person. We count ourselves lucky to have found her.
Thanks for everything Jen. We all love you! And the puppies love their post walk nap because they’ve had so much fun being with you.

I have a French Bulldog, Cleo, who unfortunately became reactive after several negative experiences with other dogs. She was never like this before, but these incidents left her highly alert and in protective mode. As her behavior changed, I also became increasingly stressed, which only amplified the situation. Walks became difficult — Cleo would react strongly to other dogs, and even to runners or cyclists passing by. Living in an apartment, we’re out several times a day, which made things especially challenging.
I initially tried group training sessions, but they were far too overwhelming for Cleo and left her more anxious. At that point, I truly felt hopeless and wasn’t sure things would ever improve — until I found Jen.
From our first interaction, Jen was incredibly understanding and compassionate. She really took the time to listen and validate everything I was going through, which meant so much to me. We agreed that she would begin by walking Cleo alone to help rebuild her confidence and trust — and she approached this with incredible patience and care.
Since working with Jen, Cleo has been able to enjoy a variety of walks again, including in the woods, fields, and by the lake — places I had completely avoided before. I saw changes in Cleo almost immediately. As Cleo progressed, Jen invited me to join the walks so we could work together. This approach has helped both Cleo and me tremendously.
While Cleo still has some work to do, we’re now at a place where I can take her on solo walks along the canal with confidence — something I didn’t think would be possible just a short while ago.
Jen has been absolutely brilliant. She brings a calm, confident energy that dogs respond to, and her ability to support not only your pet but also you as an owner is remarkable. She’s patient, kind, and genuinely invested in helping you make lasting progress.
I’m so grateful for everything Jen has done for us so far, and I’m looking forward to the continued progress Cleo and I will make with her support.
Thank you so much, Jen — you’ve made a world of difference.

Basic Obedience Training
A foundation of good pet ownership starts with basic obedience training. Pet trainers in Birmingham commonly provide instruction in core commands like sit, stay, come, down, and leave it, establishing a clear understanding between the pet and its owner.
Puppy Training Programs
Puppy training programs are essential for socializing and laying the groundwork for well-behaved adult dogs. Trainers often focus on housebreaking, crate training, socialization, and preventing destructive behaviors in young dogs.
Behavior Modification Techniques
When pets exhibit challenging behaviors like excessive barking, aggression, or separation anxiety, behavior modification techniques are utilized. Trainers help identify triggers, implement positive reinforcement, and modify problematic behaviors through systematic training.
Specialized Training for Dogs with Anxiety
Many dogs struggle with anxiety, which can manifest in destructive behaviors or excessive worry. Pet trainers in Birmingham can provide specialized training for dogs with anxiety, using calming techniques and gradual exposure to stressors to help them feel more secure.
Agility Training
For active dogs and owners, agility training offers a fun and challenging activity. This involves navigating an obstacle course with jumps, tunnels, and other equipment, improving the dog's physical fitness and mental stimulation.
Trick Training

For owners who prefer a personalized approach, private in-home training sessions are often offered. This allows trainers to address specific concerns within the dog's familiar environment, tailoring the training to meet their individual needs.
Frequently Asked Questions about Pet Trainers in Birmingham
What types of training methods do pet trainers in Birmingham typically use?
Pet trainers in Birmingham employ a variety of training methods, but positive reinforcement is overwhelmingly common. This approach focuses on rewarding desired behaviors with treats, praise, or toys. Some trainers may also incorporate clicker training, which uses a clicker sound to mark precise moments of correct behavior. It's less common now, but some trainers still utilize correction-based methods, although these are increasingly scrutinized. Understanding the trainer's methodology is essential for ensuring it aligns with your pet’s temperament and your preferences.
How do I find a reputable pet trainer in Birmingham?
Finding a reputable pet trainer involves more than just a quick online search. Look for trainers who are certified by recognized organizations like the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) or the Karen Pryor Academy. Check online reviews and ask for references from friends or local veterinarians. An in-person consultation is highly recommended to assess the trainer’s demeanor and suitability.
What are the costs associated with pet training in Birmingham?
Costs for pet training in Birmingham vary significantly based on the type of training (group classes vs. private sessions), the trainer’s experience, and the duration of the program. Group classes are generally the most affordable, while private sessions are typically more expensive. Some trainers offer package deals or payment plans to help manage the cost. Always ask for a detailed price breakdown before committing to a program.
What age is best for starting pet training?
While training can be beneficial at any age, early socialization and training are generally advantageous. For puppies, beginning training and socialization classes around 8-16 weeks can help establish good habits and prevent behavioral issues later on. Older pets can still be trained, but it may require more patience and consistent effort.
What qualifications should I look for in a pet trainer?
Beyond certification, consider a trainer’s experience and specializations. Some trainers specialize in puppy training, obedience, behavior modification, or specific breeds. Look for trainers who demonstrate a strong understanding of animal behavior and who prioritize humane and ethical training methods. A background in veterinary technology can also be advantageous.
What is the difference between group classes and private training?
Group classes provide a more affordable option and offer opportunities for your pet to socialize with other animals. However, individual attention may be limited. Private training offers a more personalized approach and allows the trainer to focus entirely on your pet’s specific needs and challenges. This is often ideal for pets with severe behavioral issues or unique learning styles.
How long does it typically take to see results from pet training?
The timeframe for seeing results from pet training varies depending on the pet’s age, temperament, and the severity of any behavioral issues. Consistent practice and ongoing reinforcement are crucial. You might notice initial improvements within a few weeks, but establishing long-term habits may take several months of dedicated effort. Remember that training is a continuous process.
Can a pet trainer help with aggression issues?
Yes, a qualified pet trainer can certainly assist with aggression issues, but it's crucial to find a trainer experienced in behavior modification. Aggression is often rooted in underlying fear or anxiety, and a skilled trainer will work to address these root causes using positive reinforcement techniques and desensitization protocols. A veterinary consultation is highly recommended to rule out any underlying medical conditions contributing to the aggression.
What should I do if I disagree with a trainer's methods?
If you disagree with a trainer’s methods, it’s important to communicate your concerns openly and respectfully. A good trainer should be willing to explain their approach and adjust their strategies if necessary. If you’re unable to reach a resolution, it’s perfectly acceptable to seek a second opinion or find a trainer whose methods better align with your values.
What’s the role of the pet owner in the training process?
The pet owner plays a critical role in the training process. Attending training sessions is important, but equally vital is consistently reinforcing the lessons at home. This involves practicing commands, providing positive reinforcement for desired behaviors, and maintaining a consistent routine. The owner’s commitment is essential for long-term success.
