Went there recently to celebrate my son’s graduation. I have been to China many times and have to say, the Hot pot was pretty authentic. Tasty and a good heat. A few options like duck blood was missing… But a great evening location.

A very chilled night. Great service and no one in a rush to move us on even though it was a Friday evening.

On a trip to Birmingham, decided to try out something new and went to this Hot Pot restaurant just outside the Bullring. Was greeted most enthusiastically at the door by the hostess and this continued throughout the meal. Ordered from the provided electronic tablet and was soon presented with the broth and the various ingredients that you then add yourself to cook within the broth. The two different broths we chose were tasty and all the produce to add was of really good quality. There is a sauce bar where you can mix your own dipping sauces with guides on what to add for the required taste, which is a great idea. Food is part served by a robot serving machine, which travels up and down the restaurant. Great experience and great food. Would like to return again to try out other elements of the menu.

Didn’t know they have halal options! The lamb and chicken were halal when I went there. Service is amazing as always and food is super high quality! Really enjoyed it and will definitely come back for more 🙂

We got the buffet for dinner and it was around £38.99

We visited this restaurant randomly for hotpot for the very first time, and it was a fantastic experience. The ingredients were fresh, the broth was rich and tasty, and there was a wide variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables to choose from.
A big thank you to Leo, who helped me a lot with the menu and guided me through the whole process since it was my first time. He was patient, friendly, and made everything so much easier to enjoy. The service and atmosphere were excellent, and I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try authentic hotpot

ARCGAMING

The food and atmosphere were both excellent me and my girlfriend really enjoyed the meal and the setting. However, the service was disappointing. When we politely asked to change tables, the server responded with visible frustration and even raised their voice at us, making us feel like we were being scolded rather than served. It was uncomfortable and completely unnecessary. We were simply trying to enjoy some quality time together, but the staff’s attitude made us feel rushed and unwelcome. It really detracted from what could have been a perfect dining experience.

The buffet experience at your restaurant was sumptuous and explosive, having to try different kinds of dishes and finding the tastes so perfect and delicious was lit for my partner and I . Would definitely recommend to others and be back again . However, the strawberry cocktail was a less for me considering the alcohol concentration being too high and that kind of killed the fruity flavor for me .

We celebrated my birthday over the weekend and decided to have dinner at lulu wild. The experience at best was surreal. Even though we were a few minutes late for the appointment we were taken to our table right away. The atmosphere was aesthetic and lively. Love the low lights and decor. The service was excellent with both providing high quality service. The food was incredible- this is the first time we had the wontons and were blown away by the taste. They have a wide selection of dim sums, bao and wontons. The mains were also good especially the noodles were one of the best in the city. They are very particular with their allergy specs. We made them aware of our shellfish allergy and after placing our order they came back and told us one of the wontons might have traces of shellfish and helped us choose another starter. Prices were a bit on the higher side but definitely value for money given the quantity and quality. Lulu made my birthday special with a small complimentary dessert. All in all a perfect end to a perfect day at lulu wild. Must visit!

Ps. I do feel they should add more options In their mains.

The food was actually so insanely good, I celebrated with my girlfriend for my birthday and this great staff member Kristian gave respectable and kind service to us. The drinks (Lychee Martini and China Gold – 2 absolutely beautifully made drinks) were made by him and I was actually impressed. Best lowkey atmosphere and honestly made my birthday experience great. Also the Wok Fried Rib Eye in Black Bean and the Stir Fried Shredded Chicken Noodles were absolutely bangers. 10/10 would recommend to go again

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Lulu Wild and had an amazing experience. The shared steamed dumpling platter was a perfect start, with fish, chicken, scallop, and vegetarian dumplings all delicious. We also loved the Firecracker Squid.

For mains, my wife had the Wagyu Beef while I enjoyed the Spicy Prawn Coconut Curry with cashews and basmati rice beautifully cooked and full of flavour.

The food was outstanding, presentation was elegant, and the service was warm and welcoming. A perfect spot for a special occasion!

Went there with colleagues for Brunch on a Thursday. It was really calm, atmosphere is great and pretty. The food was good, we went for the brunch menu. We went for a birthday meal on Friday evening (6pm). It wasn’t too crowded or busy at that time. Food came out quickly and it was nice, everyone enjoyed their food. This is my 2nd going and I will go back again. Kashan was our server, he was really nice, polite and attentive to our needs as a table (5 of us). On the booking form I did click on the birthday option but they didn’t do anything, so not sure if they offer anything for birthdays. The place isn’t the cheapest, everything we ate and drank came up around £200 for 5 people.

Buffet Island offers great value for money, delicious food, and a wonderful atmosphere. It’s a place I would happily recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch Chinese buffet in Birmingham. They had a vast selection of delicious food. However, for me, the prawns were a definite highlight – perfectly cooked, succulent, and full of flavour, it was hard not to go back for seconds and thirds. The dessert bar had a variety cakes, paired with creamy ice cream, which was the ideal end to the meals. The restaurant has a warm and inviting feel, making it a comfortable spot for a family dinner, a meal with friends, or a casual date night. Adding to the pleasant environment were the staff, who were consistently nice and friendly, always ready with a smile and quick to clear plates, ensuring the dining experience was smooth and pleasant from start to finish.

What an absolutely fantastic experience at Wok Chi! From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional and went above and beyond our expectations.

We had just finished shopping at Waitrose and came in with some ice creams that needed to stay frozen. When we asked our host if they could store them in their freezer, he was more than happy to help and handled our request with such politeness and warmth.

The host’s food recommendations were spot on – everything he suggested was delicious and perfectly suited our tastes. What really impressed us was his attention to detail: when we ordered wontons, he thoughtfully provided an extra one so they could be divided equally between us. It’s these small gestures that show genuine care for the customer experience.

The food quality was outstanding, and the entire atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. The staff clearly take pride in what they do, and it shows in every aspect of the dining experience.

We’ll definitely be returning to Wok Chi and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent food paired with truly exceptional service. It’s rare to find a restaurant that combines great cuisine with such thoughtful hospitality.

Can’t wait for our next visit!

I visited with an old friend for an overdue catch up a couple of nights ago and we really did choose well. From the moment I walked in (my friend was parking the car) Alfie the owner was smiling and friendly offering drinks and water. The food was stunning with some of the best gyoza I have ever eaten and the crispy beef is perfect. We also ate squid and scallops with prawns which were delightful. A small restaurant with a genuine emphasis on excellent food and service. The wine kept coming even after we had paid the bill which was very generous and after a lovely chat with Alfie he helped me into the car as I’m waiting for a new knee!! All in all a wonderful experience which will be repeated very soon. A gem on the high street.

The Mango Pudding we had for dessert was a bit too simple but definitely recommend all the rest. We shared a starter, got a main and dessert for around £20 pp.

I had pork noodles, my wife had crispy pork with rice alongside Wanton Soup. With pepsi as the drink. The drinks were great 500ml in tall glasses. I liked my pork noodles, the portion is massive and it’s best in buffet. I had to take it back in a doggy bag. The crispy pork was lovely too. My wife thought the wantons in the soup were not seasoned enough and it did feel.like this. The service was good and felt quick.

Salty Fish & Chicken Rice was delicious & tasted fresh and was well cooked. Service was quick and friendly. Portion sizes were decent and prices reasonable. The only slight negative part was the male toilet, the door lock handle needs fixing. Overall, a nice experience.

A great little restaurant in china town. The service was efficient and prompt and the drinks and food came out in good time. Great tasting hot food. We sat out in the terrace which was like a nicely done up garden verandah with lights and fans. Great all round

I recently visited Chung Ying in Birmingham and was pleasantly surprised by how well they cater to vegetarians—especially when it comes to dim sum. As someone who often finds veggie options to be a bit of an afterthought at Chinese restaurants, Chung Ying was a refreshing exception.

Their vegetarian dim sum menu is genuinely thoughtful, not just the usual spring rolls and tofu. The standout for me was the vegetable cheung fun—silky rice noodle rolls filled with perfectly seasoned mushrooms and greens, drizzled with a sweet soy sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The vegetarian siu mai and spinach dumplings were also excellent: delicate, flavorful, and clearly made with care.

What I appreciated most was that nothing felt like a compromise. Every dish was well-balanced and satisfying, with textures and flavors that made each bite interesting. Even the dipping sauces were spot on, complementing the dishes rather than overpowering them.

The setting is classic and bustling, which adds to the charm, and the staff were friendly and helpful when I asked about which dim sum were vegan vs vegetarian.

If you’re vegetarian and love dim sum—or have felt left out at traditional dim sum spots—Chung Ying is absolutely worth a visit.

Got the Special Curry with rice, Large portion of the Four Meats and a side of egg fried rice and salt and pepper chips.

The Special curry was easily the best ive ever eaten, The four meats yet again were top tier and despite the angry reviews about people saying it’s served cold, that’s how it is meant to be served and that’s how it is best eaten. If it had been heated up it wouldn’t have been as nice as it was so just accept that fact and stop complaining. Salt and Pepper chips were fresh and tasted perfect, aswell as the rice.
Top notch

After more than ten years of regularly lunching and dining at this restaurant — over at least 150 visits by my count — I am disheartened to say that tonight’s dinner was the worst experience I’ve ever had here.

I used to be a loyal and satisfied customer, with even my most recent visit last weekend being decent. But what I encountered today was simply unacceptable. The roasted pork was visibly burnt and had a harsh, bitter flavour that overpowered the dish. The stir-fried chives with egg barely contained any chives at all — what few there were had been overcooked beyond recognition, and onions were used as a poor substitute. The dish bore little resemblance to the appealing photo on the menu.

To make matters worse, the Chinese tea was stale and unpleasant, with a musty, almost spoiled flavour. The accompanying vegetables were fibrous, yellowed, and extremely difficult to chew or swallow. The only redeeming item was the fried rice, which was just passable.

I genuinely hope this was an isolated incident, but unless there is an honest explanation or some acknowledgment of what went wrong, I no longer feel inclined to return. The experience was not only disappointing — it was physically distressing. I had to leave the restaurant before finishing the meal due to an upset stomach, which is something I’ve never experienced here before.

For a place I once trusted and frequently recommended, this has been a very unfortunate and upsetting decline.

Came here with four colleagues and we all ordered the four-meat dish with egg fried rice. The service was impressively quick, and it was great to see all the food freshly prepared and cut right in the open kitchen—you can watch everything being made.

The food was delicious and generously portioned, especially considering the amount of meat you get. Great value for money!

I sometimes come here to buy duck to take away, and sometimes we stay to eat at the restaurant because our child really loves the duck here, even though it takes me two hours by train to get here. In the past, the sauce was always served separately, but this time the duck was brought out on two plates with the sauce already poured on. Since our child cannot eat the sauce, I politely asked the man if he could change one plate for us without sauce (especially as they didn’t ask me beforehand about putting the sauce on). However, the man spoke in Vietnamese with unpleasant words and a rude attitude, making it seem as though it was my fault for not saying something earlier. I was only making a simple request, but his manner was very unfriendly. I also don’t know how he translated this to the younger man, but instead of having an enjoyable meal that our family had been looking forward to, we ended up feeling uncomfortable and unable to enjoy the food because of his attitude.

Han Dynasty Restaurant offers a surprisingly affordable experience for Cantonese-style dining. The portions are generous, making it a great value for larger groups. I appreciate the option of individual soup pots – a nice touch that ensures a cleaner, more enjoyable meal for everyone involved. The service is generally friendly, although occasional inconsistencies appear.

While some dishes might need a bit of adjustment in seasoning – like the fried noodles being slightly salty – the overall quality is commendable. The restaurant provides a solid choice for those seeking a casual and budget-friendly Cantonese meal. I would recommend reserving a table, particularly if visiting during peak hours.

I love the fact that you get your own pot of soup so you don’t mix with your parties and you can also choose your own soup base. It’s very affordable for an all you can eat hot pot. Great customer service, the owner was so friendly and accommodating. The only negative thing I found here was that they don’t have a great selection of toppings and I noticed some items weren’t as fresh anymore (mostly vegetables as well). Nonetheless it’s still a great spot to pig out with your friends.

Got steamed dumplings and server who took our order moved very fast and was friendly. The food came at a reasonable time and the food tasted very good.

The issue occurred when we went up to pay. First we randomly got charged for tap water. When we questioned it, the server (who was on the phone) didn’t fully even listen to our question then just said okay never mind it and lowered our bill but it still was more than what was expected so we still pointed to where the mistake was and the server said okay mistake and told us she gave us the bill for a different table. While still on the phone she gave us a new bill (which was still wrong) because we were in a rush we just paid and left.

Did not take card, only bank transfer as well. Experience ruined by the end, we just wanted leave as soon as we could. Shame 🙁
