Customer Reviews
My first time here and certainly wont be my last. From the moment we entered we couldn’t fault the service, we were given a lovely table with plenty of room.
Our server Joni could not have been more helpful explaining the menu and certain dishes what goes with what etc. she could not do enough to help.
The food was amazing and so well cooked, fragrant and tasty.
The dessert recommended by Joni was to die for absolutely gorgeous

Visited midday in the middle of the week. Quieter as expected, really good ambience and the tables were distant for privacy. It was really comfortable. Food was served hot, quickly and no fuss. Menu is easy to understand, the server made a great effort in explaining and recommending various items on the menu. Every dish was flavourful. Good portion sizes, with great vegetarian selections as well.
Dishoom is consistent in its standard throughout all its restaurants in England, and never fails to impress on every visit.

Dishoom opened in Birmingham 2020. I’ve always wanted to try it but never had the opportunity. I’d read good reviews, heard friends say how delicious the food is, seen the decor from the outside.
We visited on 19/0925. My friend invited us to have lunch with her at the well respected venue.
I’ve got to say, it didn’t disappoint.
On entering, the dark panelling immediately strikes as quite imposing. The colonial-esque aesthetics gives it a lovely, old world charm, with marble tables, whirring fans overhead and large potted plants.
I ordered the chefs special lamb in keema. My partner ordered a chicken salad. We didn’t have to wait too long before the dishes arrived, which were exceptionally decent size.
Every morsel I ate was pure lamb, succulent, tender and tasty. The bread was very large, fluffy and light.
My friend said her salad bowl would feed two or three people.
After the meal, I walked around the establishment and felt I had been transported to another time and place. I didn’t think I was in the heart of the city.
I would’ve given it 5, but would’ve appreciated a few nibbles whilst we waited.
Dishoom is an exceptional place and I think I’ll be returning in the near future.

Service was really good! Food delicious too.. though it would have been nice to have more buns with the pau bhaji. The tandoori lamb chops were marginally too sour for our taste. Otherwise, the decor was beautiful and felt transported to old Bombay!

The food was very tasty and fresh. The menu had many good choices. The staff were kind and served fast. The place was clean and quiet. Prices were not too high. I enjoyed the meal and would come back again. Highly recommended this place.

My partner and I recently dined at Dishoom Birmingham and, despite a few minor inconveniences, our overall experience was outstanding, largely thanks to our incredible waitress, Serena. She adeptly addressed the hiccups, ensuring our evening was nothing short of memorable. Her extensive knowledge of the menu and excellent recommendations truly enhanced our dining experience.
The food was wonderful and full of flavor, making our dinner truly special. The atmosphere was vibrant, and even though the restaurant was busy, the staff were remarkably attentive and welcoming. The decor is beautifully done, paying a lovely homage to its Indian roots, adding to the overall charm. I highly recommend Dishoom Birmingham for a delightful culinary experience, exceptional service, and a warm, inviting ambiance!

Honestly an incredible night, took my friend for dinner to celebrate her birthday and was blown away by the service made her feel like a V.I.P! Food came at a decent time, drinks were superb and those starters!!!! Out if this world! We ordered the dynamite prawns, and lamb cutlets for starters, and the burgers for mains, and that chocolate cake was amazinggg! Shout out to all the waiting staff you guys made our evenings feel so special !

Delicious food, great costumer service, nice vibrant, but cosy atmosphere. The non alcoholic deinks a bit pricey (£9 for blueberry crush), but it was a nice mocktil. Will definitely come again.

Saw good reviews for this place online and had high expectations considering it’s a bit pricey. Booked online a few days prior and could only select a table for two people as a minimum, sent an email asking if it was okay that just one person will be attending as it was quite late and near closing time. Didn’t hear back the next day so phoned up, very hard to hear on the phone and the person didn’t seem to understand what I was asking so they just booked another table for me.
Entrance to the actual restaurant wasn’t very clear as you have to go into the car park and there is a little booking desk downstairs at the entrance, also unclear if you needed to wait there or if you could just go straight upstairs to be seated, luckily there were two women who were sat downstairs and said you could just go on upstairs. Confirmed my booking for one person with the waiter at the bar who told me to take a seat in the waiting area. Waited for over 15 minutes, ignored by the staff who all looked over at me when walking past but no one thought to approach me. There were clearly plenty of tables available and it wasn’t too busy on a Sunday evening either. Eventually a waitress asks me what I’m waiting for here and if I’m waiting for someone, not sure where the waiter at the bar disappeared to but it was clearly not communicated with the rest of the staff that I had a booking for one person and was waiting to be seated. Was expecting an apology at the very least but nothing. Not a very good start but was hoping the food would make up for it.
Shortly after being seated, my waitress Robin took my order and the food came pretty quickly, about 10 mins or less. Ordered the Beef Ribs with mash. Although it says Beef RibS with an ‘S’ on the menu but there was only one on the plate Very large portion and presentation was good but average taste and so a bit overpriced in my opinion. Also ordered a Passion Fruit Mojito which was nice.
Toilets were clean and I thought the taps were a cool design.
The decor and atmosphere was lovely but I don’t think I would come here again which is a shame as I was really looking forward to dining here and wanted to enjoy it but unfortunately my initial experience when I entered and the average food was a downer.

We visited Dècorum for lunch on a Saturday and upon arrival were greeted by lovely staff who took the photos of us and really put effort into it. Between three of us we ordered the calamari, bang bang cauliflower and dynamite prawns to start. Each of the dishes were spot on – especially calamari as it is easy to get it wrong but here it wasn’t rubbery at all. Then for mains we had the signature steak, lamb cutlets and lamb shank. The mash was to die for and the steak was INSANE. Buttery and melt in the mouth. The lamb cutlets were charred to perfection and the lamb shank literally fell off the bone. Fifi served us and she was just so lovely and helpful. I was apprehensive that this restaurant might be style over substance but I was so wrong. The decor is gorgeous, the service is excellent and the food is just delicious.

We came here for a birthday celebration. The venue is beautiful. A great atmosphere especially with the live music. The food was great just slow to come out which makes sense with a big group. We would love to applaud the service by Imran, he was kind, clear with communication and understanding. Would come here again✨

The atmosphere and decoration of this place is simply amazing. Definitely worth a visit just to see the interior.
The service was also very friendly and professional. Briefly mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and the staff in charge of us remembered and gave us a free birthday snack and a handwritten message.
The food was very delicious. Strongly recommend the salmon. The sides were also very good was definitely worth ordering.
The food is on the expensive side, but definitely worth it for an occasion for its food, atmosphere, and service.

Arrived early and enjoyed a really nice champagne cocktail at the bar. Exceptional service. Went for friends birthday. The sparkler and cookie at the end was wonderful. Such a shame that the dessert let you down! Service was amazing (thank you Mo!). Starter and main so nice, for all of us (party of 3). Beautiful setting, luxurious. But if you’re serving a sticky toffee pudding make sure it’s aligned with the price point. It just wasn’t. Sorry to say, as everything else was excellent. The lemon pudding was amazing, so it’s a bit of a shame that one pudding let you down. (It was dry and tasteless).

Food was astonishing! The best I’ve ever tasted, anywhere. Went there for my sister’s birthday and the service was first class. Our server Ionutz was so friendly and helpful, honestly great service. And the person, Shamal, who greeted us was so polite and welcoming – I was really impressed. Thanks Tattu, we’ll be back.

☆ 5/5
The food was very good, but unfortunately the service left much to be desired. The service was extremely slow, with dessert taking more than 20 minutes to arrive. On top of that, they forgot the surprise birthday message I had arranged for my wife, which was very disappointing. Instead, as we were leaving, they just handed us a fortune cookie — which felt like an afterthought and really underwhelmed what was supposed to be a special moment. Overall, while the food itself was enjoyable, the poor service ruined what should have been a memorable occasion.

Customer Reviews
Excellent service, food and environment! We both decided for the little known Summer at the Ivy set menu – excellent value for money with a glass of champagne included. My crispy duck salad was excellent, as was my minute steak. The deserts were both great, but the white chocolate vanilla cheesecake with mango sorbet was the best. Would recommend the visit – although with some remarks: the Sunday roast, which cost almost the same as the 3-course menu, looked sad and overcooked. Other menu items also seemed exorbitant expensive. Drinks have London prices (a 330ml beer costs £6.5).
Is it worth going? Yes. Are the prices on the menu consonant with the experience? Not sure, unless you know what to chose.

Always decent food and great service. Perfect for almost any occasion. They don’t allow decorations for celebratory events, so just bear that in mind if you’re planning something special.

As ever the Ivy maintains its most fantastic ambience and classy service. Our food was absolutely amazing! Presentation, colour and taste was just perfect! Compliments to both the chefs and the front of house staff for their most professional and skilled efforts.
I must comment on the wine mark up! We ordered a bottle of Chablis with our meal which, although a nice accompaniment, was charged at around £76. This wine can be purchased in most wine outlets for around £23! Based on how amazing the food was, I personally would rather pay more for my food than feel mugged by an overly inflated wine menu!
That said, if you fancy feeling like the most special people on the planet for a cpl of hours, the staff (all of them from the front door and back) have it absolutely nailed! Thank you so very much everyone especially Klaudia.

We had a lovely lunch at The Ivy for a friend’s birthday and to remember our absent friend
The mains were all delicious, you do need sides as the main alone often will not fill you up.
We were very well looked after by Raluka and her generosity was much appreciated. It made a lovely lunch even more special.

This place is absolutely incredible – from the atmosphere and service to the amazing food they serve. The starters were delicious, especially the tartare, and the shrimp pasta was full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Every part of the experience was top-notch. Definitely highly recommend it!

I travelled from Leicester to try The Ivy after hearing so much about it, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The place looks great, but the service felt rushed, our mains came out quickly after starters, which made it hard to relax and catch up with my friend.
There wasn’t much variety on the menu, and while the food was decent and the drinks were okay, nothing really stood out. Staff were polite, but not as polished as I’d expected. Overall, a nice spot, but not quite a five-star experience.

Varanasi offers a dining experience that immediately impresses. The ambiance is undeniably elegant, creating a sense of occasion. The presentation of the food suggests a commitment to quality, and the menu showcases a refined approach to Indian cuisine. The team appears to strive to deliver impeccable service, focusing on creating a welcoming and attentive atmosphere for each guest.
From what I gather, the culinary offerings seem to be consistently praised, specifically the grilled dishes and biryani. The attention to detail is clear, and a dedicated approach is evident, creating a space that caters to those seeking a more luxurious and memorable meal. The overall impression is one of a high-end establishment with a focus on both flavor and atmosphere, displaying exceptional quality and attentive care in all aspects of the dining journey.

We had our small, informal wedding reception at the Varanasi and it was fantastic! They prepared the private dining area perfectly and we had the most amazing time. The food was gorgeous, staff were so friendly and attentive, kept us updated and allowed us to choose the timings of courses. Many of our guests had not been there before and they were wowed by the entrance and decor inside. Just a perfect way to celebrate our wedding. The best restaurant in Birmingham, thanks so much from Lisa & Ray.

Wow.The venu exudes class and luxury and has a decor like no other restaraunt. Definitely not what I was expecting when I went through the doors as I had not done any prior research before deciding to dine here. Didnt start well as I called to enquire what type of Indian cuisine was being served or where the chefs were from. I was constantly told ‘indian’ much like the sketch from goodness gracious me. Was promised a call back that never happened. Coincidently I walked past to see if questions could be answered but they couldn’t by front desk. Ray was called upon by friendly security at front door. He answered my questions and invited to come and have a look. I didn’t step out until 2 hrs later for what was a great dining experience.
Outstanding service that comes a a dear cost. Mix grill…..chicken outstanding 10/10,kebab was midocre 6/10, lamb chop brilliant. Good quality produce and great flavour.9/10. Paapadi chaat was way too thick and lacked the layers of flavour you would expect. Was like it was made with hung yoghurt. 5/10.
Biryani was excellent and the sauce/curry along side was good too nit there is any need for it. 9/10 stingy raita pportio.needed 2.
We was plied with water and naan bread which obviously totts up the bill. The water was unnecessary.
Desserts we’re terrible. Chocolate fondant was okay. Nothing amazing and the pannacotta was so boring and lacked flavour. Couldn’t taste coconut.Needs to deliver more given the ambience, the service and the high prices of the menu and service charges.
Did have a nice touch as we had an extra little dessert that woukd thoughtful and cute and mad you feel special for a moment until you start noticing that every couple around you is getting the same thing.lol
I came again a week later however was surprised with dining requirements as you had to order a minimum number of starters and mains per guest. This was a little embarrassing as I had guests from abroad and I had ordered the maharaja mix grill to start but I was quickly made aware that this would not suffice. I had planned to dine and order more but not to the level that was expected as we just wasn’t that hungry. Think it was 2 starts and 2 main expectation per person. The whole idea is a little strange as I have never encountered this before. We walked out.
Despite this yes I would come again. The restaurant and ray left a positive long lasting impression. The restaraunt ambience and decor is a winner and sets you aside from others and into an elite league. However you do need to work on those kebabs, the tiny portion sizes in the mix grill and the desserts. Thankyou for the experience

Had my first visit to Birmingham and chose this restaurant, what a great decision! The ambience was absolutely spectacular, with stunning decor and a well-thought-out theme that made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive, and our food arrived promptly.
Speaking of the food, it was delicious. Generous portions, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. Definitely a great spot for a lovely dining experience. Also, there were plenty of picture perfect spots, which I really enjoyed.
Would highly recommend this restaurant for date nights and birthday celebrations.

The service was absolutely impeccable, nothing beats Indian hospitality, and Varanasi showed exactly how it’s done. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel so comfortable and even seated me at the most beautiful table. The interior is stunning, with such attention to detail. Gaucho Birmingham provides a memorable dining experience, especially for those appreciating quality cuts of meat. The ambiance is sophisticated and clearly designed to evoke a sense of Argentinian tradition. Staff are attentive and seem genuinely keen to guide diners through the extensive menu, ensuring a well-informed choice from their selection of steaks.
The food is the star; the steaks are cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Beyond the meat, there’s a good range of appetizers and desserts to complement the main course. Overall, Gaucho offers a delightful occasion for a celebratory dinner or a special treat.

Customer Reviews
My girlfriend brought me here for my birthday and I couldn’t have been more happier. The service was brilliant, as soon as we walked in, they took care of straight away. They showed us the different types of steak and recommended us, telling us the background of Argentina explaining how they get their steaks and it was very interesting as I’m a steak lover. The food was 10/10, it was brilliant filled with different flavours and cooked to perfection. I’ve never had a steak as good as gauchos, the atmosphere was authentic and aesthetic, it just makes it so much better. The manager George was great along side his colleague Raphael were brilliant during the evening, they took care of us and made my birthday dinner special. Will definitely be back and highly recommend to everyone and steak lovers. Great work!

We really enjoyed our visit on Friday. Cleibe was really attentive, friendly and helpful.. really great lad.
The crispy prawn starters were wonderful…a great blend of spicy, mint and lime worked really well.
And with the rump steak was excellent value for money. many thanks. We will be back

The weekday lunch menu is an incredibly good deal for the quality and service at Gaucho.
Our waiter was knowledgeable about the allergens on each menu item, and was accommodating of the dietary requirements in our group.
Wide selection of wines, which again the waiter was able to talk us through in detail.

We had a fantastic time celebrating a birthday, and I can’t thank George and Raffaele enough for making it so special! The food and drinks were top-notch, and the atmosphere was just perfect. The service was spot-on too; everyone was friendly and attentive, which really enhanced our experience. The knowledge was also amazing, and we thank everyone for serving us with the utmost respect! We’ll definitely be back for another visit soon!

Stopped by for Saturday lunch, great service from our waiter and promptly seated to our table. Options for halal steak (rump) was available; it’s worth booking a table in advance and requesting to avoid disappointment. I personally would recommend the truffle dauphinoise and tenderstem broccoli for sides. The mille-feuille dessert was a 10/10 for me, great way to finish off the meal and so fresh/fruity.

This was our 2nd time visiting Gaucho restaurant Birmingham. Celebrating our wedding anniversary once more at this fabulous steakhouse. We have never eaten steak as good as here, EVER anywhere. Fabulous cocktails too! Waiters and waitresses are friendly and helpful. Lovely decor in the restaurant itself with a nice bar as you walk in. Definitely returning here

Absolutely beautiful food from this little hidden gem. We went at lunch time which highly recommend. Our server Pavel was so attentive. He explained the different steaks, recommended cocktails which were delish. The starter was gorgeous and plentiful. We shared the Chateaubriand. wow just wow best steak we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back

Adam’s Restaurant offers a truly exceptional dining experience. The focus on seasonal ingredients and innovative techniques is clear from the first bite. The presentation is artful and the service, while attentive, never feels intrusive. It’s a place to celebrate a special occasion and appreciate the craft of fine dining.
While the price point reflects the quality, the overall value is undeniable. The dedication to sustainable practices and local sourcing is commendable and adds another layer of appreciation for the restaurant’s philosophy. A recommended location for those looking for an unforgettable culinary journey.

Customer Reviews
I’ve been meaning to write a review on this place for a while, and after reflecting on the experience and comparing it to similar-level restaurants, I can confidently say it’s one to skip. Of course, it depends on what you’re looking for, but we personally didn’t enjoy our visit.
The service felt very intense, almost like the staff were looking down on us. I get that they have a certain etiquette, but true professionalism means adapting to each customer’s mood and experience – not making them feel uncomfortable. The food itself wasn’t bad, but for a Michelin-rated place, it didn’t blow us away.
We went with a Groupon voucher gifted to us, and were surprised when the bill included a hefty service charge of the full price menu, instead of just charging on top of drinks. I understand that some fine-dining places automatically include service, and normally I’m happy to pay it – if the service matches. But what if it’s young students or guests who received it as a gift and weren’t expecting to be hit with an extra £40–£50? Definitely something worth considering.
What bothered me most was that while filming parts of the experience (which is common in fine dining these days), the waiter told me not to film him as he presented the food. I wasn’t filming him directly – just capturing the overall experience. If you’re working in a high-end, presentation-focused restaurant, you should expect that some guests will be recording. If that’s an issue, maybe a different work environment would suit better.
Overall, the food was decent but not unforgettable, and you can absolutely find better Michelin-level restaurants where the service is warm, respectful, and genuinely customer-focused. Sadly, this one didn’t live up to expectations.

A true gem in the dining world! A place I have had the privilege of experiencing multiple times and each time improving on perfection! Talking on my last visit I must say this is a epicentre in not only the midlands but also the UK that all food and wine lovers must attend. We enjoyed the Chefs Table along with Wine pairings and it truly was an amazing experience.
Every piece of food so thoughtfully made within eyesight and explained by the accompanying chef. Wonderfully enjoyed beyond words, needs to be eaten to believe.
Each course served with a perfectly matched wine from the truly knowledgeable Sommelier with a knowledge base far reaching every question asked!
The kitchen staff themselves being an amazing team working together in a fluid atmosphere with the real life day to day, and the amazing teamwork to create the most amazing food all under the eye of Chef Adam. A true great.

Fantastic dining experience in the heart of Birmingham on the fly, PJ and his team were excellent hosts and very gracious for the experience. I would highly recommend anyone coming to Birmingham to sample the delightful menu and experience. Stand out dishes include the sweetbread with a beautiful lovage sauce and crunchy almond.
The 50 year old port is a must for anyone, one for the bucket list and the Spanish sommelier is a lovely guy who clearly has a passion for his role and it shines through.
A lot more to say however all positive and will be back again

Without doubt the best food I’ve ever eaten in the UK for starters. Personally I preferred the food here to some of the top restaurants in European cities.
Worth every penny! Beautiful food. Excellent presentation. Why travel to London (or Kenilworth for that matter) when you can come here!
Use it or lose it!!!
p.s. after eating last week in a Scenic restaurant in Liverpool which was certainly punching above it’s weight it can only emphasise how good Adams is.

We came to Adams for my birthday with my husband and four year old daughter. We last came here for our 2nd wedding anniversary many years ago. The food and service was just incredible! I am so so pleased that Adams is so family friendly. The staff made a fuss of our daughter and she absolutely loved her experience there. It can be hard to find fine dining places that are so welcoming to children. We will come again!

It’s wonderful to see this restaurant is still going strong. The decor is traditional, the staff are lovely & the food is delicious.
We had the prawn & scallop starters & we both decided on the crab linguine. The portions are far more generous than other restaurants in the centre of Birmingham & it’s great value for money.

I had a brilliant evening at La Galleria. The service was warm and friendly from the moment I walked in, and the whole place had a really cosy, authentic Italian feel.
I started with the meatballs, and they were absolutely delicious – tender, full of flavour, and served in a rich, tasty sauce. For my main, I had a pizza, and it was spot on. Perfectly thin and crispy base, generous toppings, and that proper wood-fired taste you only get at a good Italian place.
The atmosphere was relaxed but lively, and I could tell a lot of people there were regulars – always a good sign. I left feeling full, happy, and already planning my next visit.
Highly recommend if you’re in Birmingham and fancy proper Italian food done right.

Probably the best meal I have ever had. This was better than any food I have eaten In Italy. I had scallops from heaven as a starter followed by an absolutely PERFECT steak and chips, Italian style. By the end of these two courses I was full. Erika took excellent care of us and served a few beautiful digestives after the meal. I will visit Birmingham just to take my family here. A massive thank you to all the staff. Italian wine, particularly the Chardonnay is the best in the world.

Phenomenal restaurant – it’s a work of art really, the best Michelin restaurant I have ate in, it’s no surprise it’s 2 stars!
Gorgeous interiors and mood lighting, you are taken into a lovely lounge area for a few starters and drinks before commencing to the main restaurant area! Both areas have visibility of the chefs and kitchen/preparation area which is fascinating to watch whilst eating!
We did the 10-courses and I highly recommend it!
So many beautiful and delicious dishes – I have no idea how they do it! Not a single disappointing dish on the menu! Make sure you come here starving as there’s so much food and portions are generous for fine dining!
Beautiful puddings – the chocolates were delicious! I love the fusion of flavours and each dish being a dedicating to different parts of the Middle East and East Asia – just love it! Love this Indian restaurant! Highly recommend to try this place at least once in your life!
Shoutout to the waiters Ezequiel and Shakira – they were both brilliant and chatty!

Opheem has an amazing and talented team of chefs. Each dish came with a unique experience and taste palette, not one repeated itself. We enjoyed all of our courses which were served in good time and we hope to return one day. We thought the range of courses would be very filling but they were the perfect amount of food.

WOW.
We were excited about visiting Opheem but nothing quite prepared us for what has been one of, if not the best meal out we’ve ever had. Previous Michelin starred experiences have been a bit pretentious and stuffy, but the staff at Opheem are exceptional; professional and incredibly knowledgeable whilst being able to have a human conversation and a laugh with them. Exceptionally attentive without being intrusive.
The food, is as you’d expect and so much more. Snacks that will make you wonder how they pack so much flavour into such small morsels, and the things they can do with carrots should be illegal- definitely the stand out dish from the Tasting menu. But honestly, every course was a delight, and we didn’t want it to end!
We will be returning, without a shadow of a doubt. Hats off to the team!

Amazing experience all round. A party of 4, we had the 10 course tasting menu with wine flight; all agreed it was the best tasting menu we ever had. It was full of gastronomical surprises with the infusion of delicately infused Indian flavours… just beautiful. The service, presentation and atmosphere was top class all round; we were even honoured to meet Aktar Islam who presented one of our dishes. If you’re looking for something truly special then this is the place!

We went as a couple and travelled into the City centre by train to celebrate a special birthday. It was incredible from start to finish. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable but not intrusive. It started with relaxing drinks in the lounge inc treats followed by our 10 course taster menu in the restaurant and then further coffee and treats in the lounge to end our wonderful experience. It was great to see the chefs busy at work in the open kitchen and Aktar Islam actually came to your table with many of the courses personally and chatted with diners. The restaurant was full even on a lunchtime so you 100% need to book well in advance. We had a £100 voucher which softened the blow slightly but it is quite costly to dine here. My husband has eaten in many fine restaurants around the world but this one shone out for him as ‘one’ if not ‘the’ best. We’ll be back for my Sisters 60th for sure ! Thankyou Opheem for a truly wonderful dining experience, one we will always remember.

What an experience; an entire journey that brings a smile to your face and laughter amongst the crowd.
I’ve been wanting to dine here for a few years but never managed to get a reservation on a weekend so last year I booked it a year in advance for a birthday treat.
Wasn’t expecting the experience to last so long I was tired by the end of it as I travelled all the way from Dewsbury.
From a young age I’d watch Master Chef and The Great British Menu with my dad. I have so many memories of the show and the chef – Akhtar Islam. When I first saw him I was fan girling over him and was so excited. He came over and shook our hand at the end.
I was too shy to say anything at the time but I was certainly amazed by the encapsulated experience; exceeded my expectations. As we eat halal we can’t always eat meat or poultry in fine dining spots or Michelin for that matter. And most of the dishes have a non-halal ingredient in them that we can’t eat. The flavours are not something we’re used to either.
So eating something that is familiar and still blows our minds was such a treat, being able to experience a halal restaurant ran by a Muslim, serving all halal meats on the menu is truly amazing!
I know other establishments can cater for halal – they usually have a partial halal menu. But from a previous Michelin experience I’m not sure it would be up to the same standard.
It’s nice to be able to try food that is similar palette wise from a south Asian point of view. Bold claim, but I would urge other muslims/south Asians to go as you won’t experience anything like this elsewhere.
My parents are from Bangladesh, so I felt super proud of what he has accomplished and tasting familiar flavours and ingredients in such a progressive and gastronomical way was really magical.
Of course the experience comes at a price, with a higher cost you certainly want to be wowed. As my best friend’s husband quoted – he definitely wants to eat one thing that made him think it’s the best thing he ever put in his mouth. Which of course we all felt.
The array of amuse bouche literally blew our minds, how can one encapsulate such flavour into tiny morsels. It was flavour, texture and visual explosions. What a way to begin an evening. Genius!!
Creative, explosive and unique menu. The vibe, the mood lighting, interior, cutlery, crockery, glasses, the staff, the lounge, open kitchen, the cleanliness, the toilets. Everything was so great. The attention to detail was on point.
The only thing I would say is that the non-alcoholic mocktails could have had more variety, my fave was the watermelon one but the ginger and elderflower was just OK.
I also felt for the dessert the (REWANDCHINI), the ice cream was just OK. I thought it could be creamier and packed with more flavour. It did taste like falooda and I’m sure that’s where the inspiration came from but I think a creamier ice cream would have made the dish. The pistachio fudge in that dessert dish was amazing though.
Having said that every dish was texturally, visually and tastefully satisfying. But some dishes were nicer than others.
Finally we all felt when the chefs would serve our dishes not all of the chefs waited till they served and completed our dishes to speak about the dish. This took away from the final plating experience. It was distracting and we weren’t able to focus on what they’d say about the dish so I wish they would all finish the plating then speak about the dish.
I know things are fast paced and it can be hectic in the kitchen but I do feel this would really elevate the experience.
Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner, will hope to see you all again! Super inspiring!

I had been looking forward to my visit to Opheem for some time and was not disappointed! The atmosphere is relaxed. The service is outstanding, friendly and unobtrusive. The star of the show is the food. I’ve eaten in some spectacular restaurants but cannot remember a better supper in my life. The 10 course tasting menu is almost double that with amuse bouche etc taken into account. Every single dish was perfection. Top tips- 1) Don’t eat anything before you go if you are having the 10 courses. 2) The wine flight is delightful and really cleverly thought out. 3) Plan for 4 hours there.
Thoroughly recommended!

This is a great restaurant to visit if you are looking for something a little bit special. The food is beautifully presented and the service is very good. However we were initially informed that we had to order both our starter and main at the same time, instead of waiting to see how hungry we were after our first course . It’s a little bit more expensive than some restaurants, but it takes into account the spectacular views over the city and the sophisticated atmosphere. The only negative was that to access the toilets, you have to go down stairs although there is a lift. ( a minor inconvenience). Overall, a fabulous place to visit once in a blue moon.

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants – my wife and I have been here a few times before and always enjoyed the food. They used to do a fixed price lunch menu with pairing wine for a reasonable price but then they stopped doing the pairing wine, because it wasn’t profitable enough (fair enough) and now they no longer offer a fixed price menu. Today we went there (3 of us) for Sunday lunch and it’s gone downhill. Not only do they no longer offer the fixed price menu, but the quality is not the same – it’s gone from Michelin star standard to average (not bad but no longer a wow) and it feels like they are cutting costs, but still charging the same prices. My starter was prawns and they were undercooked (just about edible), although to be fair my wife had the chicken croquette and it was very tasty and presented well. The Sunday roast was very disappointing. My wife’s food was cold, the skin on the roast potatoes was hard, the “sirloin steak” was a few slices of beef (but cooked fine), the Yorkshire pudding wasn’t great, and the gravy was tasteless. The vegetables were nice but luke warm. I had cream brûlée for dessert which I’ve had before – it was very tasty but not presented as it was previously- before it was decorated with fruit, flowers etc – now it just has a biscuit and hard ice cream on top – see photo below of what it used to look like (first photo) and what it’s like now (second photo). We only had a carafe of wine but the bill for 3 people was £234!! Also they added on £1 for “charity” which is a bit cheeky! Whilst some of the food was very nice, it wasn’t worth the money and we won’t be going back.

Orelle was an interesting experience. The food was nice and presented in an artistic way but I did feel like it was abit pricey for what it was. I felt like I paid more for the experience of being here.
The waiters were nice and very knowledgeable about the food menu and drinks options. The menu has both vegetarian and meat options. The place itself was quite pretty and the service was good.
It felt like a more of a romantic setting with lots of couples. However, there were some other ladies having their girls time together like myself.
My friend previously celebrated her graduation here with family and she really enjoyed her experience. Hence why she wanted to come back with me. So I would recommend Orelle for celebrations.

What a beautiful place with the best views of the city! Really enjoyed sipping a cocktail watching out the windows.

I dined with the graduation set menu, which had a complimentary glass of prosecco. The set 3 course menu selection was small but had a good variety of options for a very reasonable price. The staff were excellent, warm and welcoming. It is a short elevator travel up to the 24th floor, which is a very open space, airy and has large windows which provides a very atmospheric and calming environment with beautiful views of Birmingham. The food was delicious, with elegant presentation and well balanced flavours. The mushroom tart was delicious and the best mushroom starter I’ve had, the main course I had was the chicken, which was on the drier side but had a lovely thin gravy and creamy mash which balanced the dish very well. The creme brulee was also absolutely delicious, creamy and a perfectly caramelized and crisp sugar top. It was a very worthwhile experience and I definitely will be returning.
