Not the best photos so do apologise.
Food was stunning!! I had the wild something (can’t remember the full name) and it was so good! Just the right amount of burger. Sometime you go to a burger place and leave half as it’s just far too much. Servers served us quick and prompt which was great. Atmosphere was not really there, don’t think there was any music, if there was it was very low. Server stood watching at the side, which our table was the closest too.
But overall would go again and recommend to friends and family.

Fat Hippo had a fantastic variety of burgers to cater to different dietary needs, making it a perfect spot for a family trip. We mostly went for the Swiss Tony, which was delicious! However, we were seriously impressed by the chicken burgers and couldn’t help but feel a bit envious. Looking forward to returning! The tater tots were also 10/10. The friendly service was a bonus. 🙂

Excellent food and service. It is our second time and the food has been just amazing. Klaud and the rest of their team were great and provided a good service. We’d come back soon. Music is a little too loud.

Our first burger joint lunch in Birmingham. Amazed by the beef burger where all the options they have are only double patty but their juicy and tender fried chicken burger were a stunner and stoled the show. Very good quick bite meal with delicious chicken and beef variations. Always love the wallet friendly IPA during our trip in UK. Definitely something worth trying here in UK.

As you walked in the place had the look and feel of a high quality restaurant. The atmosphere was very pleasant and felt like it had a touch of quality. Good menu choices, although not much variety with the vegetarian options. Wine list was good. Definitely highly recommend for anyone who likes Italian food.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Piccolino, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff went out of their way to make the evening special. Every team member was attentive, friendly, and genuinely thoughtful especially Kristina and Erion, it truly felt like they were celebrating with us.

The food was absolutely delicious every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was seamless, and our server made sure everything was perfect without ever feeling rushed.

A huge thank you to the entire team for making my birthday so memorable. It’s rare to find a place that gets both the food and the atmosphere just right, but you all nailed it. I’ll definitely be back and recommending you to friends and family!

We couldn’t thank them enough! We came in today to celebrate our anniversary and were treated to an incredible afternoon tea.

We had originally planned a weekend away, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to reschedule. I called Noel this morning and was assisted by Monia over the phone—she was understanding, patient, and wonderfully polite. My wife had her heart set on afternoon tea, and even though bookings usually require 24 hours’ notice, they kindly accommodated us and prepared a fantastic vegetarian afternoon tea.

The venue itself is beautiful, with a lovely location, a welcoming atmosphere, excellent service, and beautifully presented, delicious food.

We are truly grateful and will definitely return with family and friends. A well-deserved 5 stars!

We went on a Wednesday evening (7-10pm) so it was quite empty. We had the view of the canal which was nice. The decor is absolutely stunning as a the toilets although they could’ve done with some regular cleaning. The food was good, although it would’ve been nice to have desserts, I didn’t see any on the menu. The mocktails were really nice too. It came up to £110 for 2 of us (2 starters, 2 mains, 3 drinks). The food took a while to come out though otherwise, the staff were really nice and polite

Loved our meal at Noel’s. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great! When the staff needed to move us so they could reset a table, they gave us a free drink and were so thankful, even though it was absolutely fine. The restaurant has the eelig of somewhere special that people come to celebrate special moments. Lovely location too!

Noels Bar – Best Italian Restaurant in Birmingham!
Noels is hands down the best Italian fine dining spot in Birmingham. It’s a shame the location isn’t more central because I truly believe more people need to discover this hidden gem. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was elegant, and the service from Wicktoria was outstanding – she made the whole experience for my mom even more special. Highly recommend!

Absolutely blown away by this place. The decor is smart. The restaurant is warm and clean. The toilets are maintained.
As soon as we walked in, the staff were so polite and friendly. We were seated immediately. Shout out to Laila for her fantastic service.
As usual I go for the caviar, unfortunately the one I wanted wasn’t available. Fortunately I had an upgrade to a better caviar of the same size. My night was made!!!!
The food was stunning! Just delicious! Every single course was to die for! The steak, the Tartare, the oysters, the caviar, scallops, all just PERFECT.
I can’t rate this place enough.
We will DEFINITELY be back!!!

We were coming to a concert in Birmingham and planned somewhere to eat. Noels sounded just right; pleasant location next to the canal and the menu looked enticing.
We were not disappointed. The restaurant is light and airy in a sophisticated way, the waiters were fabulously helpful and pleasant and the food was stunningly good.
It was a more expensive restaurant than we might usually go to but it was worth it as an exceptional experience. While we were expecting our table to be available for an hour and a half, we were able to stay for over 2 hours. Our waiter checked when it was needed so we knew how to pace ourselves.
They do charge for service (not stated as voluntary) but the service was very good.
We had appetisers of olives and bruschetta followed by the best rib eye steak ever with perfectly crisp and tasty chips . My companion had rump of lamb which she declared as delicious. These were accompanied by a lovely bottle of Italian primitivo.
We finished witt the most perfect puddings ever; an apple / chocolate mousse and a mixed fresh fruit tart, with coffee to conclude.
If you are in Birmingham and want a stunning meal then we wholeheartedly recommend Noels.

The focus on local Birmingham ingredients and flavors shines through, presenting familiar elements in surprisingly new and exciting ways. It’s a place for a special occasion, offering something beyond the typical restaurant.

The service appears consistently attentive, and the food showcases a high level of culinary skill. It seems to be a smaller operation, which lends itself to a more intimate atmosphere, though some variation in staff confidence can be expected. Overall, the reviews suggest a well-considered and exceptionally enjoyable culinary journey, clearly emphasizing the quality of the tasting menu.

This was the perfect treat for my birthday. From the moment I booked it, I was impressed.

I opted for the Signature Tasting Menu, starting downstairs with three dishes representing the Balti Triangle. As we moved upstairs, it felt like we were in their own home, with only a few tables and just three members of staff.

The food was exceptional. I have experienced several tasting menus, but this one truly stood out. Not a single dish felt out of place; each one was as good as the last. Considering there are only two chefs in the kitchen, this impressed me even more.

I am already looking forward to my next visit!

Visited yesterday celebrating our wedding anniversary. I was really impressed with the food – it exceeded my expectations. Some really, clever and playful twists on the Birmingham theme. We enjoyed the non traditional, urban feel of tbe restaurant and I loved the playlist which was alternative and played louder than in most fine dining places I’ve been to.
We started with a drink and snacks in the bar. Nothing massively grabbed me from the cocktail menu but I enjoyed the gin cocktail I chose. The crab custard snack and the scallop tart were really excellent.
We had the tasting menu – everything was beautiful, lots of great umami flavours which I love. We weren’t shown a menu for the wine flight or offered it which made us think we may find it disappointing so opted to sharw a bottle od wine instead. We were recommended a chilled red which is bottled locally and again this was really good. We had a glass of a lovely dessert wine with our sweet courses which we both loved and paired well.
Standouts for me were the pickle tray (popadom pickle tray flavours served with a sorbet in a lime), fruit and nut 1926 (chocolate lovers heaven) and the cheese course which was stunning.
Service was good and attentive, we didn’t have to think about a thing. We had relaxed and chatty service from two of our waiting staff, others seemed to be newer/less confident and less chatty/able to talk about the food. This didn’t put us off but just didn’t quite match the quality of the food.
Overall we had a really special and memorable experience, would recommend for a special occasion. We would love to return.

Great dining experience here, and I loved how many Birmingham elements they wove into the meal. The pre-course snacks were a real highlight – you could tell there was a lot of effort and some fun ideas packed into those little bites.

However, while the starters and snacks were fantastic, I did find the main course to be a little less impressive in comparison. The portion size also felt a tad on the smaller side. Dessert are also hit and miss.

Despite that, it’s still a great restaurant overall. The service was excellent – really attentive without being intrusive. We also dined with a discount, which made it fantastic value for money.

If you’re looking for a dining experience that’s fun, tasty, and definitely has a Brummie flavour, then this place is absolutely worth giving a try.

My experience at 670 grams was wonderful, it is so much more than just about the food, it’s the ambience and the environment that also make it. All of the staff are extremely knowledgeable, and friendly. Each dish is explained, you’re attentively taken care of and if you had additional requests I don’t think they would see that as a problem.
One thing I’d love to highlight which I haven’t seen from other reviews is that 670 grams do offer a vegetarian or pescatarian tasting menu! I had a phone call from the restaurant the night before my reservation to confirm dietary requirements/allergies which is when I found out about this!
All of the food was incredible, very well executed and the combinations of flavours were spot on. The chefs clearly put a lot of passion, time and energy into creating each dish and it shows from the presentation to the taste.
This is the perfect place for a special occasion or a treat!

I can’t rave about it enough. Every dish was packed with well balanced flavor, the small venue was comfortable, but not stuffy (you can watch the chef work if you sit upstairs.) The drink pairs were well chosen. The chef brought out most dishes, described them, and spent some time chatting and making us feel at home.
I would go back in a heartbeat and expect this place to have Michelin stars soon. It is also in a very cool neighborhood.

Edited after returning for another visit recently. They have expanded the space to include a reception lounge area downstairs where you can enjoy a cocktail and a few small bites before going upstairs to enjoy your meal. The food is still amazing and the service still great.

Defining a "gourmet" restaurant can be subjective, but it generally signifies a focus on high-quality ingredients, innovative cuisine, and exceptional service. It often involves intricate preparation techniques, unique flavor combinations, and a dedication to presenting dishes with artistic flair. A gourmet establishment usually prioritizes the dining experience as a whole, not just the food itself.

How do I find truly gourmet dining experiences in Birmingham?

Locating truly gourmet dining in Birmingham requires some research. Start by exploring online review platforms and reading descriptions carefully, paying attention to comments regarding ingredient sourcing, chef’s credentials, and the overall ambiance. Seeking recommendations from food bloggers or local food publications can also be a valuable resource.

What is the typical price range for a meal at a gourmet restaurant?

The price range for a meal at a gourmet restaurant can vary significantly, but generally, expect to pay a premium compared to more casual dining options. Appetizers might range from $15-$30, entrees from $35-$75+, and tasting menus can easily exceed $100 per person. Wine pairings will also add significantly to the final bill. Budget accordingly and check the menu online for price indications.

Do Birmingham's gourmet restaurants cater to dietary restrictions?

Many gourmet restaurants in Birmingham are increasingly aware of and cater to dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergies. However, it’s crucial to inform the restaurant in advance when making a reservation. This allows the chef to prepare suitable dishes and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Many menus will also clearly indicate allergen information.

What is the dress code typically like?

While Birmingham's dining scene tends to be more relaxed, gourmet restaurants generally maintain a slightly more elevated dress code. "Business casual" is usually a safe bet—think collared shirts, smart trousers, or a simple dress. Extremely casual attire like shorts, t-shirts, and athletic wear are typically discouraged, but it’s always a good idea to check the restaurant’s website for specific guidelines.

    Should I make a reservation?

Yes, making a reservation is highly recommended for Birmingham’s gourmet restaurants. Popular establishments often book up weeks or even months in advance, particularly for weekend evenings. Reserving a table ensures you secure a spot and can often provide a better seating option. Many restaurants allow reservations online or by phone.

What’s the best way to experience a tasting menu?

Experiencing a tasting menu is an excellent way to explore the breadth of a gourmet restaurant’s culinary skills. Come with an open mind and be prepared to try new and unexpected flavor combinations. Don't be afraid to ask your server questions about each dish or request wine pairings. Pace yourself and savor each course.

Are there any restaurants that focus on local or sustainable ingredients?

Yes, several gourmet restaurants in Birmingham prioritize local and sustainable ingredients. These restaurants often collaborate with local farmers and producers to source seasonal produce, meats, and cheeses. Menus often highlight the origin of the ingredients, showcasing the region’s culinary heritage. Look for restaurants advertising their commitment to farm-to-table dining.

What is the significance of wine pairings with a gourmet meal?

Wine pairings are an integral part of the gourmet dining experience. The right wine can enhance the flavors of the food, creating a harmonious and memorable combination. Sommeliers carefully select wines to complement the dishes, considering factors like acidity, sweetness, and body. Even if you're not a wine expert, trusting the sommelier's recommendations can elevate your meal.

How can I provide feedback to a gourmet restaurant?
