I visited this restaurant with my friend and we were absolutely delighted!
The interior is stunning — probably one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The staff were incredibly welcoming, honestly the friendliest service I’ve experienced in my life.

The food was amazing — the pasta was delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was so comfortable: the music wasn’t too loud, which made it easy to talk and enjoy our evening. We also took some incredible photos and had such a lovely time.

Without a doubt, this is the best Italian restaurant in Birmingham. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I made an online reservation to ensure that we had a spot. Although we arrived a bit late, the host was able to get us seated.

The interior of the restaurant was absolutely stunning, with a beautiful and elegant ambiance. However, our experience was slightly affected by being seated next to the service area, where staff frequently gathered to collect cleaning supplies. This did detract from the overall dining atmosphere.

As for the food, the pappardelle al ragu pasta was exceptional and definitely worth recommending. The margarita pizza, while decent, didn’t stand out as much. The mocktails were delicious, though they did contain an excessive amount of ice, so there wasn’t much to enjoy.

The staff appeared to be in a hurry, possibly due to an event happening later, which made the dining experience feel a bit rushed.

I’d definitely recommend going for the interior, which is gorgeous. However, the food wasn’t anything mind blowing compared to the atmosphere.

What an absolutely gorgeous place to dine in! We visited for our anniversary meal and it did not disappoint. The interior is stunning with all the bottles lit up and the high ceilings. However, we found it very loud in the restaurant and it could be difficult to talk at times, nonetheless it was a buzzing atmosphere.

The service was great and very friendly. We were even given a congratulations card from the team for our anniversary, such a nice touch! We had the beef ragu pasta which was delicious. The pistachio profiterole for dessert was also beautiful and was drizzled in chocolate at our table. Again our special occasion was highlighted with happy anniversary being written in chocolate on the plate. It was so special and an anniversary we will never forget!

An unforgettable Italian experience at La Bellezza
I was lucky enough to sit at the bar of this beautiful restaurant and enjoy much more than just a drink it was a true Italian experience. Two amazing bartenders from Italy took care of me with such kindness, professionalism, and passion for their craft that they exceeded all my expectations. Every cocktail they made was a masterpiece: balanced, creative, and absolutely delicious.

Beyond the flawless service, what truly stood out was their energy, charisma, and dedication. They didn’t just serve drinks they created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made me feel genuinely special.

A heartfelt thank you to both bartenders who made my evening so memorable. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This is one of the most beautiful restaurants i have ever been in. We ordered a sharing board called la santa trinitã and crispy potatoes. This was so delicious. Perfect for sharing.

For dessert we had the incomparable lemon pie. This is insane. So delicious and surprisingly not soggy at all for the size.

This restaurant is incredible. I am so happy an amazing restaurant like this is located in the iconic Chamberlain Square. It is so beautiful here you just have to visit. The staff were so lovely and the service was fast. I highly recommend.

As you walked in the place had the look and feel of a high quality restaurant. The atmosphere was very pleasant and felt like it had a touch of quality. Good menu choices, although not much variety with the vegetarian options. Wine list was good. Definitely highly recommend for anyone who likes Italian food.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Piccolino, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff went out of their way to make the evening special. Every team member was attentive, friendly, and genuinely thoughtful especially Kristina and Erion, it truly felt like they were celebrating with us.

The food was absolutely delicious every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was seamless, and our server made sure everything was perfect without ever feeling rushed.

A huge thank you to the entire team for making my birthday so memorable. It’s rare to find a place that gets both the food and the atmosphere just right, but you all nailed it. I’ll definitely be back and recommending you to friends and family!

Came here for dinner for my birthday and had a lovely evening. Food and drinks were delicious and staff were very friendly, thank you to Diego for making our night more special. Definitely will be coming again.

The staff were absolutely lovely and so friendly, which really made our experience special. We chose this restaurant for my daughter’s 18th because the menu offered great vegan options, especially the vegan cookie dough, which she was really looking forward to as most places only offer fruit or vegan ice cream. Unfortunately, the cookie dough wasn’t available, so she had to settle for the vegan ice cream instead. It was still nice for her, but a little disappointing as that was one of the main reasons we booked here for her big day.

That said, everything else was fantastic! The atmosphere was amazing, the team were so polite, helpful, and welcoming, and the meals were hot, tasty, and served quickly. The drinks were perfect too. Overall, we had a great time and would highly recommend this place for the wonderful staff and great service.

Food was lovely, great taste, thank you to the chefs. Staff very friendly, helpful, chatty, with a smile. It was a little uncomfortable to eat as it was a hot day June 25th tables full, it was hot inside, could of done with some air conditioning, lots of iced water jugs flowing on the tables.

The food was good. The kids Mac and cheese was really great. The server did seem a little overwhelmed and maybe had too many tables, but overall we would recommend it.

I had a lovely experience at Bella Italia! The lasagna was absolutely delicious rich and full of flavour. I also had the brownie sundae for dessert, and it was just as delicious. Me and my partner had a really positive and lovely experience at Bella Italia Birmingham today. We had two amazing waiters (Amy and Mark) who were very attentive, engaging and kind. We will definitely return. The spicy sausage pasta & pepperoni pizza was fab!

I have never in my life left a bad review for a restaurant but the service we experienced was so bizarre and rude. The man that served us (we assume was a manager, sounded European, brown hair) acted like we had personally insulted him by coming out to eat. When I informed him I had a nut allergy while ordering he acted like he wanted to fight me – it was strange that he had such a hostile reaction considering he works at an establishment that serves food and has a sign at the door telling customers to inform their server of any allergies. When my food arrived it didn’t have any allergy safe flags etc. which are part of their allergy procedure. The food all arrived promptly and tasted fine but the waiter ruined the experience entirely. We were baffled as to how someone with such an aggressive demeanour and complete lack of manners has made a career in hospitality? Obviously it can be a very stressful and tiring job but the way he acted was objectively rude. We asked for tap water at the start of out meal, it still hadn’t arrived 2 hours later – but at that point we were too scared to ask him again. He was so unbelievably rude taking our order that we actually watched him interact with the tables around us to see how they reacted, and we couldn’t help but notice he was a lot more smiley, joking around with the white customers. The other members of staff seemed fine and were friendly when bringing us the bill – we can only hope for their sake that this manager is nicer to his staff than he is to his customers! Luckily we are able to laugh at how odd this dining experience was, as his behaviour was so rude it was almost comical. Fingers crossed he was just having a bad day and isn’t like that all the time!

Didn’t have the best experience here, waited 40 minutes between starter and mains (it was not busy and had asked for them together) we also ordered a desert but ended up cancelling due to the poor time management and service. The bolognaise was just pasta and water with a bit of meat – ended up leaving hungry because it was just so bland and inedible. mentioned this to our waiter (andre i think his name was) and he didn’t apologise or compensate us in anyway. instead blank stared at us for 20 seconds and came with an excuse that “the kitchen didn’t hear me ask for your mains”. There was a table that came in 5 minutes after us and had finished their dessert before we received our mains. he was more interested in cleaning and closing down the restaurant than serving customers – the restaurant didn’t close for another 1hour 30minutes. all around just very bad service from our server andre who i think was also the manager. as someone who works in a kitchen myself i am disappointed in this establishment.

Having just come back from Italy, I was quite skeptical of having Italian for dinner here. Gusto proved me quite wrong however, as this was most likely some of the best Italian food I have had in a while.

The lasagna was very fresh and portions were very generous. Flavours were very nice and if there was something to complain about I would say the meatballs were a bit dry for my taste. Though they used lean meats, which might have been nice if you prefer less fat in your diet.

The service was exemplary, highly recommended if you’re looking for some nice affordable Italian foods in Birmingham.

Had a great meal at Gusto with friends/colleagues. The dough ball petals were a nice starter, light and tasty. I had the prawn and saffron risotto for my main which was rich, creamy and full of flavour – would definitely recommend. Service was friendly. Was not overly busy when we went, atmosphere was relaxed. Really enjoyed the evening and would happily visit again.

We visited Gusto Italian in Birmingham as a group of 10 and it was exactly what we were looking for. A relaxed place where we could chat, laugh and enjoy a good meal together.

A big thank you to Agnes, our waiter, who was absolutely fantastic. She was always around to help, really proactive and so efficient in the way she looked after the area where we were sat. She never stopped moving but still took the time to speak with each of us, making the evening feel really welcoming and personal.

The food was delicious, everyone was really happy with what they ordered. We had starters, mains and desserts. Everything was spot on. I had the scallops to start and the chicken for my main, both of which were excellent.

We visited on a not so busy Sunday evening. The staff were very helpful and nice , the atmosphere was very cosy and welcoming yet slightly classy. However the food wasn’t as good as it looked under these prices. Definitely worth a visit or 2 , would highly recommend the drinks which is pina colada and fruitituti. IMPORTANT I was double charged and didn’t check the receipt , but the restaurant reaches out to me personally to let me know, of which they could just keep hidden! The restaurant is very trust worthy!

Sanırım rezervasyonla alınıyor fakat haftaiçi 20.30 gibi müsaitlikleri vardı bu yüzden beklemedik. Kalamar, tartar, pizza, humus (bence biraz tuzlu), peynir dolgulu ravioli, dough petal siparişi verdik. Hepsinin lezzeti oldukça iyiydi. Bizimle ilgilenen sarışın kadın çok tatlı ve yardımseverdi. Domuz ürünü tüketmediğimizi söyledik yardımcı oldular.

So twice a year I come specifically from out of the city to visit this restaurant to have a chilled-out evening with great food and this place always delivers.

The food and service are very good here, I’ve never been overly indulgent when it comes to Italian cuisine but when eating here me and my cousin always overorder but finish the lot, each time we come our bill is always over £140 as we do like to try a bit of everything.
No regrets BTW.

The pasta dishes are perfectly flavoured and if you have any meat dishes, they are top-notch with very little to critique from a negative POV.

The restaurant’s decor is lovely, you easily feel at home here with it being decorated sympathetically.

The only negative I had was this visit we were seated upstairs, it was lovely up there but very quiet. When we got seated it was only us on the whole floor and (at a guess) with seating for probably at least 60 diners.
It did have a few tables through the night but was very quiet up there which is not what we’re used to.
But hey, I’m seriously picking minor details up here.

Overall a solid night out at this place with a cracking environment, staff and most importantly food

A cosy Italian spot with friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. classic dishes done well, with a few standouts. The tiramisu was a highlight: light, creamy, and full of flavour. There’s a good range of options on the menu to suit most tastes, from pasta to pizza and more. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff made us feel very welcome. A solid choice for a casual Italian meal. Would return for the tiramisu alone!

An excellent classic Italian restaurant in luxurious surroundings, tucked away by St Paul’s Square. I have dined here for over a decade, and it still remains one of the best Italians in Birmingham, and rarely has it faltered. The food is superb and the choice of wines is very reasonable. I opted for a linguine monkfish and prawn dish – incredible flavours.

Update: went again after a year. Maybe we were unlucky but food was tasteless and service was nice but not as good as before.

My husband and I had a lovely meal there. Sensational cocktail and lovely full-bodied house red for my husband. All the staff were wonderful and very engaging especially Anna Soroush.

We Visited Riva Blu for our 5 year anniversary and everything from start to finish was impeccable. The food was outstanding (the scallops were a big highlight!), the drinks were well presented and delicious, the restaurant was pristine and The service from Michele made the experience much more enjoyable, he was very friendly, went above and beyond, very informative and professional throughout. I highly recommend visiting here whether it’s for a special occasion or a nice meal out with family/friends. I recommend booking as it gets very busy.

Visited Riva Blu in Birmingham with colleagues. The food was good, I had the prawn pasta, which was fresh and flavourful. The ambiance was stylish but a bit noisy, and the service felt slow. Others in my group enjoyed different pasta dishes and drinks, all served beautifully as seen in the photos. A decent spot for Italian, but expect a bit of a wait during busy hours.

Absolutely fabulous meal at Riva Blu last night. The Italian food is truly beautiful and we had the risotto gamberone and the linguini gamberone with the burrata for starter. Food was served fresh full of flavour. Service was also second to none and I would recommend going for a drink at the bar first which is decorated lovely. Disappointed by Poor Communication – Lovely Food but Rushed Experience

I had high hopes for Riva Blu after visiting few years ago and I made a booking for around 3pm for a bridesmaid proposal dinner/bridal shower. At no point during the booking process — not over the phone nor on the website — was it mentioned that there was a strict 2-hour time limit on our table. This crucial detail was completely missing, and only brought up once we had already arrived.

We got there slightly after 3pm, which wasn’t an issue at first. But soon after, we were told we only had the table for two hours. This was confusing and frustrating, especially as we were still waiting for the rest of our party (6-7 people in total). Throughout the meal, we were constantly reminded about the time limit, even though the restaurant was far from full. It made us feel rushed and uncomfortable during what was meant to be a special, celebratory occasion.

While I completely understand the need for time limits during busy periods, it makes no sense to pressure paying customers when the restaurant is nearly empty. It affected the entire mood — my friends and I felt we had to rush our food and drinks, and it genuinely took away from what should’ve been a relaxed and joyful dinner.

On a positive note: the food, decor, music, and general atmosphere were beautiful. The staff were otherwise very lovely and accommodating — but the constant reminders and the lack of upfront communication about the time limit really soured the experience.

If you have a strict 2-hour table policy, it needs to be clearly communicated at the time of booking — both on the phone and on your website. It’s such a shame, because everything else was so well done. I left feeling disappointed, especially because this dinner was meant to be part of a special memory, and instead it felt rushed and pressured.

Absolutely gorgeous and remarkably clean. You could eat your meal in the bathrooms this place was so clean! I have to say how beautifully decorated it is that you honestly feel like you’re back in Italy and hearing all of the Italian being spoken by the staff is such a beautiful touch. I had a wonderful conversation about my time in Italy with one of the waiters who was so kind and patient with me. Now for the food, in true Italian tradition, the portions were huge and such amazing quality. The flavours were all perfect and the food so fresh. This place is perfect for a special occasion, I will definitely be back.

A great family run Italian restaurant
It was a last minute booking for a Friday evening sand it was way to get a a table for us. The place had live music during the night. The portions are good as the taste. loved the pizza and pasta. Bread comes complimentary, so you can plan your dishes accordingly. I will visit again.

Went today for a nice Tuesday lunch out. Havn’t been to sapore for a while because the pasta dishes were always in a tomato sauce but their new menu has options for us cream sauce lovers. We started out with olives and bread and an absolutely gorgeous gavi di gavi. The bread came warm and when we asked for more olive oil it came promptly. My other half had the sheep’s cheese ravioli and I had the penne al Salmone . The pasta was cooked superbly and both sauces were very tasty. I’m not sure about other reviews about small portions but ours were just the right size for our appetites. I indulged in profiterole for dessert and he had an excellent espresso which came lovely and hot. The host was really efficient and friendly and served us as and when we wished. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 for atmosphere was because there were only 3 tables occupied, however past experience of being here in the evening there is quite a buzz about the restaurant. I’m glad they’ve added more pasta dishes to my liking as that was the only reason we hadn’t come for a while. Will be back soon!!

Very good Italian restaurant. Price is not cheap but won’t let you down with food. Portion is big for pasta. It is fun to have the pasta in three which is fun that you won’t know what you get. We are too full and need a walk after.

It surprise me there is complimentary beard which is not common at UK.

Charming restaurant with lovely decor. Friendly staff and good service. There are a number of veggie options that can be made vegan, but it’s unclear which these are and the waitress needed to check with the kitchen. Would be easier to just have them marked on the menu instead. Nevertheless, we enjoyed a vegan mushroom risotto and vegan gnocchi, which tasted lovely. Our other guests enjoyed their food too. The warm chocolate pudding was lovely and not too sweet.

First time dining at an Italian restaurant and it was amazing! It’s a great spot for date nights or catching up with friends.

The food, service and atmosphere was really really good.
Was quiet when we arrived at 5pm and quite busy by the time we left at 6:45pm.
We had gamberoni and arrancini starters followed by lamb cutlets and Pollo Tagliatelle. Then room for creme Brulee.
Fantastic afternoon.
Prices are also fair for portion size and quality.

Nice place for a group dinner! Dishes were solid, nothing to write home about but generously portioned and tasty. Service was friendly and attentive.

I don’t think all the forks and knives on the table are clean after “seeing” how the waitress handled our unused forks and knives. She’s smart and did it with her back facing our table. I don’t think the manager didn’t know about it.

Lunch in July 2024

I was a little apprehensive going here due to the negative reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of service was amazing, our waiter was lovely, all staff were friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, we had the garlic bruschetta for starters, the risotto for mains and tiramisu for dessert. I would definitely recommend and I want to go again too. The atmosphere was great, lots of people, by 6.30 the place was packed (considering they open at 6).

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Buonissimo in Harbourne, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delightful, with each dish bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The menu offers a fantastic selection, ensuring there’s something for everyone. We highly recommend trying the pork belly and the tiramissu , both of which were standout items.

The wine selection is impressive, featuring a variety of options that perfectly complement the meals. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just enjoy a good glass with dinner, you’ll find something to love here.

The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel welcome and well-cared for throughout our meal. The atmosphere was equally excellent, with a open and vibrant ambiance that made for a great dining experience.

One of the best parts about Buonissimo is the value for money. Despite the high quality of the food and service, the prices are very reasonable, making it a great choice for both special occasions and casual dining.

Additionally, there’s plenty of local paid parking available, which makes it convenient for those driving to the restaurant.

I recently dined at Buonissimo, and while the food was undoubtedly delicious, the service left much to be desired. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with an odd restriction: they told us we had to leave one hour after we arrived because they had another reservation. Fine, we thought, but things quickly went downhill.
The reservation arrived 15 minutes early, and rather than letting us enjoy our meal at our leisure, the staff was already trying to rush us out. It felt incredibly rushed and uncomfortable — they kept giving us the impression that we were no longer welcome the moment the new guests arrived. It was as though they were eager to clear the table before the new reservation even settled in.
It’s such a shame because the food was genuinely fantastic. The flavors were spot-on, and you could tell that a lot of care went into the dishes. But the experience was marred by the feeling of being pushed out. If you’re looking for a nice meal without the pressure to vacate quickly, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
Unless they sort out the service (which they were not), I can’t see myself coming back anytime soon.

We did book earlier sitting, it was not busy but I did feel a bit rushed, no sooner we finished first course the next was on the table,with out asking if we was ready, food was lovely and friendly staff

I am not sure how to do this but here it is, my 3rd week at QE hospital, lots of investigations tests etc… a very special day today, International women’s day, I felt that I want something special to eat.
Checking Google maps for restaurants nearby I came across with this Italian restaurant Buonissimo. Pretty from the pictures, attractive menu just I wasn’t sure if they do take away so I called. Pretty little voice answered, that was Irma. I explained what I want and she only had to check with chef if food collection was ok.
Chef Mark comes on the phone and he finds out that I am in hospital and family will come to collect food etc. Next thing he starts recommending what he believes it’s suitable for me, about the food texture and storage everything that I needed but I didn’t know nothing about it.
Cut the story short, my family picked up the food and delivered to me with a lovely note from Irma and chef Mark, a wonderful bunch of flowers and of course a delightful Tiramisu from them ❤️.
I have no words to describe the feelings and the emotions I felt. The food I had was Pate D’anatra as starters and Rigatoni alla Buonissimo, sorry I have no pictures of the food but I have photos of the most touching gesture I have ever had in my life !!!

Me and my friend visited today and the food was incredible. They have a great variety of dishes on the menu. Our food was divine and it was made very quickly. Will definitely be visiting more often and trying the Tiramisu next time!
