Customer Reviews
CeX has a rating of 4 out of 5 based on over 1494 reviews on Google
A massive shop. Personally I love CEX because is a good option to save the planet, reuse the games and electronics that they sell there. This shop is big and you can find basically everything that you need, I have to add that in every CEX shop the staff looks happy and always friendly, I think that they really love what they do. As mom I always came here because I can buy video games a really wonderful prices. So for me second hand items will be my first option to buy.
"Rude service, discriminatory undertones, missing items" I had a very unpleasant experience at the Central Birmingham CeX. The operative (staff no. 2439, refused to give her name) was rude, dismissive, held onto my purchase longer than necessary, and even forgot to give me the cable until I reminded her. As someone in Muslim attire, I also felt there was a discriminatory undertone to how I was treated. Looking online, I can see I’m not alone — many other reviews highlight rude staff and poor service at CeX. For a company trading over 20 years, this is unacceptable. I expect a direct response from HQ addressing this employee’s conduct and steps for improvement. If nothing is done, I will be escalating this further with Trading Standards and other consumer bodies. Update: I had a very poor experience at CeX Central Birmingham. The operative (staff ID 2439, refused to give her name) was rude, dismissive, held onto my purchase longer than needed, and even forgot to give me the cable until I reminded her. As a customer in Muslim attire, I felt there was a discriminatory undertone in how I was treated. I raised this with CeX HQ, but instead of addressing the staff member’s behaviour, they repeatedly hid behind "procedure" and refused to share any findings. Despite several follow-ups, they have now told me it’s "at my discretion" how I want to proceed — essentially brushing off my complaint. Looking online, I can see I’m not the only one — CeX has countless reviews from other customers describing rude staff and poor service. It’s unacceptable for a company trading over 20 years to keep ignoring complaints. This isn’t just about one bad experience — it’s about a company culture that tolerates dismissive service and fails to take customer concerns seriously. I will now be escalating this to Trading Standards and consumer watchdogs.
Decent store but the last 2 times I've visited, when I was waiting in line an employee would walk up to me and ask me to wait over where that red table is, and they would complete the transition there. I would definitely prefer to just normally check out but it's alright.
This is one of the largest cex shops in Birmingham! Great choice of stock !
I spoke to a girl called Rhiannon who helped me purchase a tablet. I am not good at tech stuff, but she was so patient and took her time to explain everything. I was so nervous about buying a tablet imcase I ended up with something I didn't really want, but Rhiannon was so kind and helpful and didn't make me feel rushed at all. She gave me lots of options and I'm so happy with my purchase. She is a fantastic memeber of staff and I would definitely look for her again if I needed to buy any more tech items! THANK YOU RHIANNON!!
One of the big CEX stores but they have now given up floor space for there new kidx franchise this store always has a great amount of stock with good retro finds to be had here staff always pleasant and happy to help
Giving a 5 star as Leo was kind and very helpful, great member of staff. irrespective of the 5 stars, i did have a slight issue with one of the other members of staff though, as she was being slightly patronising about something trivial - i was given cash instead of a voucher due to a misunderstanding of what i wanted (i thought it was already written down that i wanted a voucher as i discussed wanting a voucher with another member of staff the day prior) as i do not work there, i have no clue how the system works & if it was written down or not. when i asked if i could have it on voucher instead, she said in a rude tone ‘well i did say cash multiple times’ i don’t remember her saying cash - but even if she did, the attitude/patronisation was just not needed. i know it was only something small, but i just didn’t appreciate it when my day already wasn’t the best, & it’s not something you expect when being served. i know everyone is human and i’m not asking for perfection when being served, but i was respectful & it wasn’t necessary.
