チャイナタウンの端にあるマーケット。スーパーより野菜や果物が俄然安い。雑然としているが活気があるし面白い露天があり覗く価値あり
An excellent place to find affordable local goods and a wide selection of items.
The market used to be a nice friendly place to shop with a wide choice of fresh fruits, craft materials, fabrics, jewellery, stationary. It is now like ghost town where theres a lot of intimidation, harassmemt and bullying by rude security guards who treat everyone like criminals and call the police quite often. Sure there are problems eg alcoholism but unfortunately most of the staff have no people skills, no identification on them and refuse to give it when asked. They travel in 2s and 3s and follow people around even preventing customers frim buying. 2 incidents to date with a new member of staff who called police on me, suggested i go home when i said i was sitting on the ledge because i was diabetic. This man sided with and condoned racism from a stallholder and minutes after calling police allowed a white man to openly sit and drink alcohol on the same ledge. Days later the security man who refused to give me his name called police again and lied that he had told me to move from an empty stall where i was scratching cards. The police and some security spend their time picking on people and like the Bull Ring centre staff insist that you cannot look at anything without buying. Gone r the days when we relaxed in the market, could laugh and joke with stallholders, browse the goods. Some of the staff are obvious need of duversity / equality training. Their covid 19 rules and regulations consisted of shouting, "no gathering", even when people were with support workers and carers. I waited over half an hour to see a manager and last week when a stall holder sold me a 'new" 2nd hand rusty trolley where the wheel fell off after 2 hours i was told there was no market police and then they couldn't find me a complaints form. Standards in this market have changed for the worse.
I go to the market nearly every day. It's not as vibrant as it used to be. It's being rundown. Stall holders are depressed, unsure of their future. It's like a ghost town with fewer choices. The end of an era.
Really great market, got all of food items that you can't really find in the standard super market. Definitely worth checking out
Interior is well established and highly productive
Interesting indoor market.
