Do not believe the reviews you read here like I did. This company is atrocious. I was booked for 12pm today. I waited until 1215pm and called up to ask why there was a delay. I was promised a call back which when it did was a manager who was extremely defensive with a poor attitude. She said their driver had been in an accident and there would be a 1.30hr delay. When I explained how much this messed up my house moving plans for the day, she said they only had the accident on the way to me a few mins prior which means they were already late. She only offered to reduce £5 an hour off the fee, which does not make up for the extreme inconvenience. She expected that saying "sorry" in a defensive tone would make up for a complete mess up of what is a very stressful day. She was inflexible and hostile to my family members who were very polite to her. We had no choice but to cancel. In reply to the reply below: I will be escalating this matter to the ombudsman as I cannot tolerate lies and defamation. Your reply has no bearing to the truth of what happened. You only called back after I had already called to enquire about why there was a delay. You offered a £5 reduction only under extreme duress and then £10 after speaking to my family for several minutes. There was no goodwill gesture. If you indeed have the recordings of the conversation then I would advise that you will be needing them. I was very upset during the call but never used any abusive language. You heard me complaining in the background and jumped on that in an extremely unprofessional way. My family members were extremely polite and got no reasonable reply from you. In summary I would advise everyone reading to avoid this company for their own benefit.

Speedy Shift Removals provided a professional, efficient and friendly service from start to finish. A quote was sent the same day as the initial survey and all emails and calls were responded to swiftly. On the day of the move, the team worked exceptionally hard, including dismantling and reassembling large furniture and ensuring extra care was taken with fragile items. We cannot thank the team at Speedy enough for making what could have been a very stressful day so easy. Would highly recommend

Speedy Shift is easily the worst company I've ever dealt with. I would absolutely never use them again. I booked Speedy Shift for a move based on the high ratings, but going back and actually reading the reviews I found that other people had similar experiences and ran into many of the same issues we faced. On the day of the move, they were an hour and 40 minutes late and took three times as long as estimated to load our belongings. They also didn't fit everything in the van so we ended up having to go back later and move stuff ourselves. Once they had finished loading the van, they just drove off. They didn't tell us they were done or confirm where they were going, so I had to chase after them to make sure someone was at the new property ready for unloading. When they arrived at the new property, the driver told us they they wouldn't unload our belongings until we had paid the full cost of the move upfront. Nobody had told us this when we made the booking and I've never experienced this with movers previously. He phoned the manager, Kay, and she apologised for not informing us, but said they wouldn't unload without it. In the end, we paid the money before they unloaded. At this point we felt pressured into it and there wasn't much we could do because they already had all of our stuff on the van. I clarified with Kay on the phone exactly what we were paying for -- the move and disassembly and reassembly of our wardrobe. She agreed. When we made the booking, we clearly stated that we required our wardrobe to be disassembled and reassembled. At no point during the booking process did Speedy Shift or Kay state this would be an issue or not possible. If they had, we would have gone with a different company and avoided this whole mess. When they movers arrived, the driver told us that Speedy Shift didn't do disassembly of flat pack furniture because it may not go back in exactly the same way. After some back and forth, and explaining we had already paid for it, he phoned Kay who eventually got him to disassemble the wardrobe. We accepted that it may not go back together in exactly the same way, but we were not prepared for what followed. The driver took no care in actually disassembling the wardrobe properly. He ripped pieces of it off and smashed bits apart without even bothering to unscrew it. When he was done, he had just left all of the pieces lying around the floor and had even thrown some of them in the bin. Some of the pieces are still missing and others are noticeably damaged. When we got to the new property, the driver refused to put the wardrobe back together. At this point we had already paid the cost of the move and confirmed with Kay on the phone that this included disassembly and reassembly, but he still refused to reassemble it. We phoned Kay again and she even agreed that we had paid for reassembly, but this time the driver wouldn't listen and eventually slammed the van door in my face and drove off while Kay was still on the phone. Kay was apologetic on the phone and offered compensation for the reassembly (which we had already paid for), but we weren't happy with it. She agreed to call me back the next morning, but never did. After that I sent some follow up emails, but they never responded to those either. After a couple of weeks, they tried calling once, but I missed it and then they never bothered trying again. I have had to continually chase them up to get into contact. Eventually, I managed to get Kay on the phone. We had a long phonecall in which she argued with me and was dismissive of our issues. Eventually she offered us a higher amount of compensation and we ultimately accepted. They never paid. I sent another follow up email and Speedy Shift responded confirming the date we would receive the compensation. It never appeared. They have since blocked my number and stopped responding to any form of communication. Why bother arguing with me if they had no intention of paying? The whole experience was an absolute joke. I would avoid Speedy Shift at all cost.
