Phenomenal restaurant - it’s a work of art really, the best Michelin restaurant I have ate in, it’s no surprise it’s 2 stars! Gorgeous interiors and mood lighting, you are taken into a lovely lounge area for a few starters and drinks before commencing to the main restaurant area! Both areas have visibility of the chefs and kitchen/preparation area which is fascinating to watch whilst eating! We did the 10-courses and I highly recommend it! So many beautiful and delicious dishes - I have no idea how they do it! Not a single disappointing dish on the menu! Make sure you come here starving as there’s so much food and portions are generous for fine dining! Beautiful puddings - the chocolates were delicious! I love the fusion of flavours and each dish being a dedicating to different parts of the Middle East and East Asia - just love it! Love this Indian restaurant! Highly recommend to try this place at least once in your life! Shoutout to the waiters Ezequiel and Shakira - they were both brilliant and chatty!
Opheem has an amazing and talented team of chefs. Each dish came with a unique experience and taste palette, not one repeated itself. We enjoyed all of our courses which were served in good time and we hope to return one day. We thought the range of courses would be very filling but they were the perfect amount of food.
WOW. We were excited about visiting Opheem but nothing quite prepared us for what has been one of, if not the best meal out we’ve ever had. Previous Michelin starred experiences have been a bit pretentious and stuffy, but the staff at Opheem are exceptional; professional and incredibly knowledgeable whilst being able to have a human conversation and a laugh with them. Exceptionally attentive without being intrusive. The food, is as you’d expect and so much more. Snacks that will make you wonder how they pack so much flavour into such small morsels, and the things they can do with carrots should be illegal- definitely the stand out dish from the Tasting menu. But honestly, every course was a delight, and we didn’t want it to end! We will be returning, without a shadow of a doubt. Hats off to the team!
Amazing experience all round. A party of 4, we had the 10 course tasting menu with wine flight; all agreed it was the best tasting menu we ever had. It was full of gastronomical surprises with the infusion of delicately infused Indian flavours… just beautiful. The service, presentation and atmosphere was top class all round; we were even honoured to meet Aktar Islam who presented one of our dishes. If you’re looking for something truly special then this is the place!
We went as a couple and travelled into the City centre by train to celebrate a special birthday. It was incredible from start to finish. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable but not intrusive. It started with relaxing drinks in the lounge inc treats followed by our 10 course taster menu in the restaurant and then further coffee and treats in the lounge to end our wonderful experience. It was great to see the chefs busy at work in the open kitchen and Aktar Islam actually came to your table with many of the courses personally and chatted with diners. The restaurant was full even on a lunchtime so you 100% need to book well in advance. We had a £100 voucher which softened the blow slightly but it is quite costly to dine here. My husband has eaten in many fine restaurants around the world but this one shone out for him as 'one' if not 'the' best. We'll be back for my Sisters 60th for sure ! Thankyou Opheem for a truly wonderful dining experience, one we will always remember.
What an experience; an entire journey that brings a smile to your face and laughter amongst the crowd. I’ve been wanting to dine here for a few years but never managed to get a reservation on a weekend so last year I booked it a year in advance for a birthday treat. Wasn’t expecting the experience to last so long I was tired by the end of it as I travelled all the way from Dewsbury. From a young age I’d watch Master Chef and The Great British Menu with my dad. I have so many memories of the show and the chef - Akhtar Islam. When I first saw him I was fan girling over him and was so excited. He came over and shook our hand at the end. I was too shy to say anything at the time but I was certainly amazed by the encapsulated experience; exceeded my expectations. As we eat halal we can’t always eat meat or poultry in fine dining spots or Michelin for that matter. And most of the dishes have a non-halal ingredient in them that we can’t eat. The flavours are not something we’re used to either. So eating something that is familiar and still blows our minds was such a treat, being able to experience a halal restaurant ran by a Muslim, serving all halal meats on the menu is truly amazing! I know other establishments can cater for halal – they usually have a partial halal menu. But from a previous Michelin experience I’m not sure it would be up to the same standard. It’s nice to be able to try food that is similar palette wise from a south Asian point of view. Bold claim, but I would urge other muslims/south Asians to go as you won’t experience anything like this elsewhere. My parents are from Bangladesh, so I felt super proud of what he has accomplished and tasting familiar flavours and ingredients in such a progressive and gastronomical way was really magical. Of course the experience comes at a price, with a higher cost you certainly want to be wowed. As my best friend’s husband quoted - he definitely wants to eat one thing that made him think it’s the best thing he ever put in his mouth. Which of course we all felt. The array of amuse bouche literally blew our minds, how can one encapsulate such flavour into tiny morsels. It was flavour, texture and visual explosions. What a way to begin an evening. Genius!! Creative, explosive and unique menu. The vibe, the mood lighting, interior, cutlery, crockery, glasses, the staff, the lounge, open kitchen, the cleanliness, the toilets. Everything was so great. The attention to detail was on point. The only thing I would say is that the non-alcoholic mocktails could have had more variety, my fave was the watermelon one but the ginger and elderflower was just OK. I also felt for the dessert the (REWANDCHINI), the ice cream was just OK. I thought it could be creamier and packed with more flavour. It did taste like falooda and I’m sure that’s where the inspiration came from but I think a creamier ice cream would have made the dish. The pistachio fudge in that dessert dish was amazing though. Having said that every dish was texturally, visually and tastefully satisfying. But some dishes were nicer than others. Finally we all felt when the chefs would serve our dishes not all of the chefs waited till they served and completed our dishes to speak about the dish. This took away from the final plating experience. It was distracting and we weren’t able to focus on what they’d say about the dish so I wish they would all finish the plating then speak about the dish. I know things are fast paced and it can be hectic in the kitchen but I do feel this would really elevate the experience. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner, will hope to see you all again! Super inspiring!
I had been looking forward to my visit to Opheem for some time and was not disappointed! The atmosphere is relaxed. The service is outstanding, friendly and unobtrusive. The star of the show is the food. I've eaten in some spectacular restaurants but cannot remember a better supper in my life. The 10 course tasting menu is almost double that with amuse bouche etc taken into account. Every single dish was perfection. Top tips- 1) Don't eat anything before you go if you are having the 10 courses. 2) The wine flight is delightful and really cleverly thought out. 3) Plan for 4 hours there. Thoroughly recommended!
