Tough little escape room, really enjoyed it and finally managed to escape with an entire 7 mi utes to spare. Great hosts – thank you Alyssa. Nice you could take drinks in with you but not sure that helped us

The place was well located. The staff was so kind and quite involve creating an amazing environment. The games are for all ages and the difficulty was alright for an hour. I love it. Definitely will back with some friends. Well done team!!!

The Fourth Samurai room was amazing! Such a cool design (especially for a Japanese history nerd like me) and Samurai Mo was an excellent host. Just the right amount of helpful when our attempt was ever-so-slightly off. Thanks Mo!
Michael Watson

We had the most fabulous time here at escape hunt. We were a group of 4 and took on the room “our finest hour” this room was lots of fun and really well thought through! Definitely a challenge. When we came out we had so much fun we decided to be spontaneous and enter another room “the fourth samurai” which was very immersive and a fun room overall! The staff were lovely we had a blast speaking to them! Thank you for the experience!

Mo was genuinely amazing. Great host and even greater samurai . Would definitely recommend.

We had an incredible time at Escape Hunt! We did Alice in Puzzleland and the experience was so much fun, but what truly made it exceptional were our hosts, Jay and Sanchez. From the moment we arrived, their energy, enthusiasm, and attention to detail set the tone for an unforgettable adventure.
Sanchez was engaging, funny, and made sure we were fully immersed in the storyline. Fully taking on impressions, hype and banter! His passion is obvious, and it added so much to the overall experience.
If you’re thinking about trying an escape room, make sure you book this one and ask for Jay and Sanchez if you can—incredible!
Thank you both (we were the group of six girls – “mushroom”!!

The Wild West escape room was thrilling, physical and mentally challenging. Our group of 5 all found it difficult yet enjoyable to seek light outside the doors. From the reverend act to the lasso levers, the fun endlessly streamed throughout the 55 minutes we took to work the train. Special thanks to Ari for helping us out with helpful hints near the end of our cowboy adventure. Overall a wonderful experience!
Jo Garland

Aladdin room was soooo fun, simple but really gets you working had such a good time and we took the lamp as was well deserved because I don’t trust no genie. Huge thanks to Jay & Adam for being brilliant gamemasters ✨️✨️

Fun experience doing Jack the Ripper escape room! Rob was our host and explained everything well at the start and made us feel welcomed. He had to accommodate more of us at the last minute too which wasn’t a problem.
I Chua

Did the Peaky blinders escape room with a group of 6. It was fun and a good time, however I feel there weren’t as many individual puzzles for different group members and with a group of 6 a few of us weren’t as involved I think the room would be better suited for 2-4 people.
The games master Rob was lovely.
At the end of the experience they ask you to leave a positive review for a reward so bear it in mind when looking at previous ones!
Poppy Clare

Great fun in Dr Watson’s Office for my daughter’s 12th birthday with her friends. Sena was a fantastic host and helped us just the right amount when needed, and we got out just in the nick of time. My son wasn’t as happy about the screams from Room 13 next door tho!
Mark Clayton

We did the Casino room hosted by Rob and Mark and had the best time! It’s a challenge but not too difficult so you can still enjoy yourself at the same time. 10/10 would recommend!

EDIT: After the response received below from Luke I sent two separate emails to which I have received no reply. One was sent on the 26/11/24 and another sent on 01/12/24. The second email was sent as I saw the email he had gave me to contact him on was different to ones provided in other replies and I was unsure which was the correct one. So 10 days with no response, which is very disappointing.
Slightly disappointed with our experience at this escape room. Our group has attended a few escape rooms before and were excited to try this one on our trip to Birmingham. We booked the Jack the Ripper escape room and while some aspects of our experience were good, others left a bit to be desired.
Overall, the venue is really nice and the bar area is nice as well. The staff were friendly enough and the concept of the room we booked seemed really interesting.
When we arrived, we were given our debrief where we were told the room would be in complete darkness the whole time (apart from some lanterns that would be given to us) and we were also told the room would contain a few jump scares. This was not mentioned anywhere when we were booking the room and is something I feel customers should know before booking the room as it would’ve put me off if I had of known in advance.
When we entered the room, we were only given two lanterns between the four of us which made it incredibly difficult to look around for clues as we had to pair up so we could see what was around us. It also made it hard to see certain things around the room that you needed to see to get the answers to certain puzzles as vision was very limited.
Some of the clues in the room felt a bit random or slightly disconnected (can’t mention as I don’t want to spoil it) but it felt like some things were added without really making much sense or being thought through and were just a means to an end.
We felt like a good chunk of the time we were stuck on where we should be looking or what we should be looking for which meant we wasted a lot of time. We felt we were left waiting too long without any guidance and when we asked for clues we were basically just told the answer which was very anticlimactic as most other escape rooms will give you a cryptic clue and not just outright tell you the answers.
The room did indeed have some jump scares and this did make me uncomfortable as I wasn’t prepared for this and don’t enjoy this sort of thing. There wasn’t loads but enough that I felt a bit unsettled.
Overall, while the concept of the room was great I think it was lacking slightly and sadly I don’t think we would return here.

Firstly, Sarah was super lovely – enthusiastic and made the experience really enjoyable as it was our first time.
It was awesome! Had its scary and spooky moments, was challenging and made you think – overall really fun.
Appreciate you Sarah 🙂

My family and I had a great time completing the RHA escape room. Our guide, Sarah, was lovely and so helpful. The room was quite complex, but we enjoyed the variety of tasks, and the fact that there were extra side quests we could also complete, if we wished.
Rochelle M

Incredible escape room experience. Really well thought out puzzles and excellent hosts. I choose the zombie escape room and also opted for the live actors and they did a great job of making us all jump. Can’t wait to go back and try out more of their rooms.

the escape game was fun, had a lovely member of staff helping us, laura. she was great and helped us to escape! (definitely with no extra time added 😉 )
it’s quite expensive, so not something I’d do often, but we did have a lot of fun. there was a couple little broken parts in the room that we had to get help with.
it was kind of hard to find, no parking that I could see.
had a cool board game cafe with a wide selection of games. we got a table for 45 mins as we arrived for our room early, but it’s recommended to book it in advance as when we got out of the escape room it was full. it was a little dark, and smelled funny, like wet wood, which was worse in the toilets.
if I was in the area I would go again.
Oakley Kennedy

Great experience with friends. Did the Cluetankhamun, which I would recommend. I believe it was Mark (I think!) who was so helpful on the phone on getting us booked in using the mailing list discount. Service and staff were excellent. They’re not the best at answering the phone and if you return, the price is a LOT cheaper (much cheaper than even NHS/mailing discount).
Ziyad

We really enjoyed Hellevator, it’s a very high-tech room with lots of special effects. Most of the puzzles were code and password based, but the overall experience was great. It starts with a video which introduced the back story and characters. Our guide Emma was very friendly and super passionate about the games, she got us into the room quickly and looked after us throughout the game and afterwards. Would highly recommend this game and Clue HQ in general
PulaPaul

Celebrated my 40th birthday by doing the Egyptian themed escape room. Really can’t recommend this place highly enough. So much fun! The children loved it too and it wasn’t too challenging, but even so our guide Evan would give us little hints and tips via a monitor. Definitely going back there in future. They even do a board game night!
Paul Pendleton

Started out as a bad experience with The Hideout after 20 minutes still without a drink. A lot of games had parts missing which was disappointing as I think the concept it brilliant just needs more attention to details. BUT!!! Then came the escape room OMG what a laugh saw personality traits in friends I never knew existed and I’ll be honest we were rubbish but had the best time. The staff were fabulous too!

First escape room to do which was temple run. It was really interesting and fun, we made it to the end but ran out of time so didn’t escape. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a challenge. Momin was really helpful when giving clues.

Visited today and did the Titanic escape room. Definitely recommend, great experience! Hannah was helpful and very lovely. Thanks for the great day!! ~ Pru
We had a great time at Houdini’s Birmingham today. We did the Titanic Escape Room and it was so much fun. We thankfully managed to escape before it sunk!
Hannah was our Games Master and she was brilliant, really informative before we went in, so friendly and gave us hints to help move on but just enough to point us in the right direction. She was great when we escaped, and celebrated with us, she made my daughter’s day. When we asked about other rooms they have she was really enthusiastic and suggested the best one for us.
We will definitely be booking again.
Thanks for a great day!

Such an amazing time! Went for my sisters birthday and 100% recommend, we went on a Tuesday and did the temple raider room. Our experience was made 10x better with our helper Emi, and will 100% be coming again! Thank you 😀
Saira

Fab experience, we did the titanic room and Lindsey was a great host, offering some helpful hints when needed. We managed to escape but was exciting and certain clues were definitely harder than others! A good range of finding physical clues and working out logically where the clues were hidden.
Was my first experience of escape rooms and will definitely be doing another!

Loved it second time coming here Honeslty had the time of our life. We completed the RMS titanic in 59 min and 10 sec and this was only possible with our host Hannah Honeslty no one could of done it better thank you Hannah ❤️

First time at Escape Brum. It was amazing. The room was so incredibly detailed and laid out. The puzzles were interesting and challenging. And there was a lot of them!

First Escapd Room for our family. We did Blackmail due to children’s age and what can I say? It was a great fun! Kids were so engaged and tried to solve the puzzles. Good selection of quests and puzzles. Room itself was very realistic. I would highly recommend. We will be back for Labyrinth 🙂

First time doing an escape room today and we had an excellent time! The host Elle was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were challenging but well thought out, we managed to escape in 53mins so not bad! Free parking at the back. Even my 10yr old came along and loved it so fun for all the family
Kally Moxham-atkin

We did the Barrington’s Job game and absolutely loved it. It was just the right level of difficulty for 3 of us who have a fair bit of escape room experience. The room has two missions, one is the main objective and then the second available if you have time at the end. Loved the setting and the different types of puzzles to solve. We plan to go back and try the Labyrinth room next

Customer Reviews
We did the Magic Spell room. We have all done a few escape rooms before and were all disappointed with this one. It seemed to lack good logical puzzles or any narrative. Sometimes we opened doors without even knowing what we had done to open them or if the props were just faulty and a lot of other props just went unused, it just felt a bit incoherent and random. Would recommend rethinking the puzzles and also making communications with the host easier as sometimes we asked for the clue and didn’t seem to get an immediate response…
Laura

Ebony was amazing! Such a great and friendly and lovely games master. Really fun game and such a challenge. Did the grail and loved the range of puzzles – it was very cold though would recommended adding layers.
Charlotte Jackson

Honestly if I could give this 0 stars I would. So many problems. We did the magic spells room.
First the host was unenthusiastic, and honestly acted like she would rather be anywhere else. No introduction to the room was given, no ambience nothing.
My friend went to the toilet, and the light was broken, clear health and safety issue and shows a lack of general maintenance
Then we get to the room. Terrible!! Worn, old, and poorly constructed.
Puzzles were either too simple, or on one occasion had no indication on what to do with it.
Some puzzles were so worn, you could easily see how to solve them. We were out off the first room within 7 minutes.
Loads of things seemingly not needed, but seemed to be important. There was so much more potential.
Then came the worst part, weren’t actually able to physically escape, because one of the parts of the puzzle was broken. Host had to reset the room and that didn’t work either. Very frustrating. No refund or money off offered either.
Please don’t waste your money on these rooms, they are old, easy and have seen better days. How these have such high reviews is beyond me.
Jess Hanman

Worth every penny, Dana and Dan were very helpful, just the right amount of help and puzzles weren’t impossible yet still took some figuring out. Will be coming back to try the other rooms!
Luke Gifford

I have to be honest in saying I was quite disappointed with my experience at grand escape.
We went in a team of 6 and upon arrival the staff were relatively friendly but quite unprofessional and didn’t seem to really know what they were doing.
Once we entered the room (Alice and wonderland theme) it became quite clear quite quickly that nothing really made much sense and from one clue to the next didn’t really tell a story as to what we were told it would be on the day.
I know these escape rooms can be very difficult but in comparison to other escape rooms we have done in the past this one definitely didn’t keep you guessing but more like leading you to do dead end.
Once we had started asking for clues the only responses we received was on a small to screen in the room which kept telling us clues and answers we had already obtained without help.
All in all it wasn’t a great experience unfortunately but maybe one of the other themed rooms might be better ♂️

Was booked in for survival with my friends. When we got there, there was no one. We waited a bit before asking other people in the building if they knew where the escape room staff were. They told us that they were there yesterday and they had issues and are a scam. They have taken their phone numbers off the internet and is labelled as “temporarily closed” but they didnt think to call us and let us know that our session is cancelled. I am unable to contact them since their number is off the internet and they dont have an email address. I would like a refund since me and my friends paid £72!!! I sincerely would like everyone who wants to book this escape room in the future to reconsider. Ive read many low star reviews thinking that it wouldnt happen to us but it did!!! SCAMM!!!! Would rate a -10 if i could!
Habeba Ismail

Room 404 was a huge disappointment. I bought tickets through Groupon and was really excited to try out their VR escape room experience with my friends. Their website clearly stated that no booking was required and we could just walk in. When we arrived, the building was open, but completely empty—no staff, no customers, and no signs explaining what was going on. There was nothing to indicate they were closed, which made the whole situation frustrating. We left feeling let down after having been so excited. Now it looks like they may be out of business, as Google lists them as temporarily closed.

The best horror escape room ever, the jump scares were spot-on, and the whole experience was amazing. The staff were incredibly sweet and made it even better. I had the best time ever definitely a core memory for me!

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Do not waste your money coming here. It is such a waste of time. The clues are random and the haunted hollows room does not make sense at all. Atleast the design and clues can be improved. The game only has two rooms for a whopping £27 per person and it does not deliver. The operators to support are very rude and had the worst time ever. It should be shut down.
Mugdha Jain

DO NOT GO!!!
Waste of time.
The time starts when you enter the building not when the door closes. We still had 15 minutes on our time and wasn’t able to finish the room.
The props are very dated and you can barely read the numbers/words.
The puzzles didn’t flow it was all very random.
One person managed 2 rooms and wasn’t able to identify when we had completed tasks so we could continue with the next step. Awful wouldn’t recommend.
Emily Daniela Pineda

We’ve been to a few escape rooms and this one was by far the worst. One of the puzzles required us to be handcuffed, and one of our players was handcuffed somewhere that meant they couldn’t contribute at all. The unlocking mechanism for the next puzzle didn’t work and had to be manually unlocked by a member of staff. A number of puzzles were counterintuitive and had weird requirements that weren’t made clear by any clues.
Overall a really bad experience and for £25 each, I’d say save your money.
Joey Williams

Very good experience with my family. We had a great time solving or trying to solve the clues. The gentleman at the beginning was very helpful when I asked if it was possible not to be blindfolded and handcuffed as i have two kids with adhd. Very helpful
Antony Hickin

Had a really disappointing experience at Escape Now Birmingham. From the start, the staff were completely unenthusiastic and offered little to no support. We asked for help multiple times while in the escape room, but it was as if our communications were completely ignored—we were left locked in there for an hour, unable to make progress or get assistance. When we finally got out, the staff were unapologetic and insisted it was not their fault, claiming they were monitoring communications the whole time, which clearly wasn’t true. Overall, a frustrating and poorly handled experience. Would not recommend at all….
