PureGym Birmingham City Centre
PureGym Birmingham City Centre offers a decent range of equipment and a generally spacious layout. The emphasis on electronic processes, however, means there's a notable lack of readily available personal assistance when you encounter a query or need a helping hand. It's a functional gym, but not overly welcoming in terms of direct customer interaction.
While the variety of machines is good, peak times can be challenging. You're likely to compete for equipment and may experience the common issues associated with commercial gyms – namely, people occupying space without actively using the equipment. Overall, it’s a serviceable option for those focused on self-directed workouts.

Been this gym consistently for 2 years now. I’m satisfied with the range of equipment and ambience. The only snag is that it’s a little out of way for me which isn’t bad during the warmer months as I like walking the distance, it’s the colder months that can be quite tricky but that’s not the gym’s fault
I'm changing gyms specifically because of the teachers! I think it's amazing that, when people are doing the wrong exercises, they pretend they don't see, but you just need to be using the devices that they show up with their students to take turns! This is unbearable! Today an unfortunate passed by me and stopped me from training in CROCS and socks, but be sorry, I have hurt feet and even so I can't train in peace, today was the end, I enrolled in another gym, I need a place where people treat me well or at least let me train in peace
I’ve had day passes here a few times over the years but I wouldn’t hurry back. It’s an alright gym when it’s quiet as it’s quite spacious and equipment does the job. However, everything is electronic such as the process to get a gym pass so the in person customer service isn’t really there. It’s difficult to find staff if you have a question. When it gets abit busier, good luck finding a machine. Plus because it’s a commercial gym you get the less serious people who just sit/stand around chatting, taking up equipment or staring at the ladies working out.
One of the worst smelling places I have ever been to. Equipment good enough, gym is a good size. But dozens of people in stale, un-laundered clothing, terrible body odor, not wearing anti-persistent etc. I went to the local corner shop to buy a face mask, I suggest you do the same if visiting. People sweat in gyms, to be expected. But the lack of hygiene of people using this gym before they pick up their first weight is unfathomable. Better ventilation, air-conditioning, vending machines selling deodorant (or even giving it away, truly) alongside the shakes, and emphasizing hygiene on the walls instead of the fridge-magnet 'keep lifting' style messaging, could help quickly. People get told often to shower before using public pools, the same should be done here.
During peak times this gym is overwhelming. Cardio floor is very good but when you go downstairs it's too hot. Went about 6:30pm and it was hard to get on a lot of equipment. The equipment didn't smell so great so hard to concentrate whilst training. There needs to be more sanitation equipment for how busy and sweaty it gets. More equipment is needed downstairs as it appears peak time hours cannot be handled. The gym needs more Aircon. Some of the equipment like the fly and pec Dec machines are really good same with the flexor machines.
Never ever open a core or plus plan without think carefully,,, I try to downgrade my plan for 2 weeks and can't even find a way. You will get 0 human service in the gym. I tried on web send email send massage on Facebook and I still can't downgrade....btw, if you come to this gym on peak time you will only got some running machine to use...
Large gym that’s it … Constantly under maintenance has been for years, flickering lights, flooded water fountains neglected locker rooms. And back to it being a large gym, this actually becomes an annoyance when members don’t respect the premise and leave equipment everywhere and machines racked. Even going to the point other members bring speakers to the gym playing their own music out loud. Adding to this there is never staff there to correct this and when they are there they are just there for clients don’t actually care about the gym I stayed at this gym for over a year to see if any of this would be fixed and nothing
