THIS HOSPITAL IS DANGEROUS! Run don’t walk to any other hospital, you would be safer giving birth on your own, with no pain relief, in the middle of the night in a dark alley way. The majority of midwives at this Trust lack basic knowledge and do NOT care. Each department will blame another department when things go wrong. Never put yourself in a situation where you have to use Triage, as they do NOT want to see you even when there is an emergency. Women are in the waiting room their waters are breaking, they are pleading for help while the midwives sit inside the triage doors watching TikTok’s and rolling their eyes. You will not have any options for giving birth, if you tell them you would like a C-section for genuine reasons they will ignore your calls and avoid contact with you so that you go into labor naturally so they do not have to do it. They left me in labor for 4 days and then did a C-section anyway! Women are left in labor for days and days, before any interventions. Some patients are allowed multiple visitors day and night, including multiple children visiting and others are not! Radiographers will not allow siblings of the unborn baby into scans, my husband was even refused to come in, yet a migrant family were permitted to bring 5 guests including children into the scan room. The dinner lady offered me a piece of ‘crumble’ on the ward when I refused she told me she didn’t blame me, because it smelled like female private parts, this is a member of their own staff speaking to someone like that who has just given birth, about the food they are serving. Believe the bad reviews they are all true and go anywhere else other than this Trust!
So far our experience has been lovely for the most part Unfortunately not all positive Needed a scan to check placenta placement One particular staff member left us feeling uncomfortable and some what in pain digging the scanner in so much and not willing to give partner a reasonable answer rude towards children who came to see their sibling for the first time suggesting inappropriate internal scan with children present when declined said they could stand in the corridor We left as soon as appointment finished feeling unsettled and uncared for Next appointment was an improvement Different doctor explained everything he was doing happy to answer any questions and queries checked placenta all good. No issues other than having to spend 3 further hours waiting for midwife and then doctor to be given a final round up All good thankfully Many women were becoming unsettled and distressed having to wait all day
Since day 1 I have waited very long for my appointments at the Fertility Clinic. This is really frustrating as I have to pay for parking unnecessarily. Noone tells you what's going on, you just have to wait. If I had a choice, I would go elsewhere. Today I waited an hour before someone spotted I had been for too long. When I booked for my appointment I advised them I had another appointment at another hospital an hour's drive from Birmingham. Thanks to them, I missed the other appointment. Hate is an understatement. I wish I would NEVER have to come back again. However, I encountered very good staff like Carly(my first appointment was long but worth every minute? Unfortunately, I can't remember the other staff members' names but they were great.
the most horrible experience ever. Absolutely unprofessional. I have a 17 year old niece and she’s been waiting to be seen at since 4PM. She waited 2 hours to see a GP just for 5 minutes. After that they left her to sit in the waiting room for 11 hours. She asked for water because she felt a little bit sick and they refused to give her some. She asked if she can book an appointment tomorrow at registration but they said no because they need permission from the doctor. Just for the doctor to call in my niece from the waiting area and tell her come in the next two days for her appointment. Bare in mind the hospital was empty from 9PM and she’s been sitting down on the waiting area from 4PM to 5AM. She’s also underage they didn’t even know how she was going to get home.
Don't come here to give birth. I had the most traumatic and neglegent experience here as a first time mom. 5 days on the ward being induced, full of migrants that stay on the phone all night speaking in their own language, 100s of visitors at a time, no one says a word. The "bath" offered to women on the inducement ward is filthy. I was allowed to go over by 15 days, so dangerous. I had an epidural and it failed, I then had 3 blood patches due to them leaking spinal fluid up to my brain. After birth I was wheeled down to another ward but they "didn't have a wheelchair" so I was sat on the edge of a trolley holding my baby about to fall off. No alarm put on my baby for the 48 hours we stayed post birth, anyone could have taken him out the hospital. Awful experience.
Lovely Experience at the women’s hospital. I had my first baby here via C section at the end of March this year and the staff couldn’t have been better. I was so anxious and scared for my surgery but all of the staff in OWL were amazing. The midwife who looked after me and the other women before going into their c sections that day was so amazing I’m gutted I don’t know her name but if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have been as calm as I was going into theatre. I wish I knew all of their names but the staff in the surgery room were incredible, so kind and reassuring. The midwife Daisy who handled my baby when born was so amazing, her kindness will stick with me for life. I think it was ward 3 I was in with a midwife named Ella who was so caring and was happy to help/answer any questions I had as a new mum. I read some horror story reviews on here before my babies birth which really scared me but not all experiences are bad. I couldn’t credit this hospital enough. Amazing!
After going through child loss at good hope hospital due to medical negligence, I had booked the birmingham women’s hospital for my baby when I found out I was pregnant. 10/10 care I received, amazing staff. I was high risk with a cervical cerclage, hypermesis and many more conditions you could name, I was always checked and always told to come in if something was off. I ended up with multiple infections I was only sent home when I felt better in myself. I had a successful vbac too. Thank you to the amazing staff and my midwife Olivia dodd who helped me through labour!! Highly recommend this hospital. Also dr hodgets clinic the best for high risk women!
