However I didn’t like their offerings nor their price hikes in the late 90’s. I have had a few issues during this tenure however these have been amicable resolved and this is, indeed, expected during a two decade period. I have enjoyed visiting this branch and l have had no hesitation in handing over my money as l felt it was beneficial to me and my eye health. They have an extensive range of glasses and also contact lenses. Their eye tests are honest and thorough. I would wholeheartedly recommend this HUGE branch that is in what used to be OLYMPUS sports back in the early to mid 90’s. What impressed me the most, however, was the kindness and professionalism of the whole team, especially the gentleman who greeted me when I first arrived – he made a point of asking if we’d managed to remove the lens as I left, which was really lovely. I was clearly not his priority. I like the windows covered with Specsavers-green foil and simple images of Kings Heath – nice touch! However, they’re leaving the grotty, old shutters inherited from Wilko’s down all the time – very uninviting! I thought they were closed until I turned the corner into the High Street. I told the staff but they seemed completely uninterested. Additionally, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the pre-scan for laser eye surgery, forcing everyone to evacuate and congregate outside. This interruption was disruptive and unsettling, as it raised concerns about the facility’s emergency preparedness and its impact on medical procedures.

To make matters worse, upon returning, the laser machine experienced a software fault, causing a two-hour delay. This not only prolonged an already stressful situation but also raised serious concerns about the reliability and maintenance of critical equipment.

The store offers an impressive selection of glasses frames for men, women, kids, and even specialized options like sports and sunglasses. My partner and I enjoyed browsing the wide range of well-reputed brands, and the team made sure we found the perfect frames, for our faces geometry, to suit our daily needs and work environments.

The eye test was thorough and professional, with the optometrist explaining all the details clearly and answering all my questions patiently. I felt confident in their expertise and appreciated how much effort they put into ensuring my glasses and lenses were exactly what I needed.

The store itself was clean, tidy, and well-organized, making it easy to navigate and find what we were looking for. I even managed to capture a few panoramic photos of the location to remember this pleasant experience!

It’s always worth getting a lift here or go by public transport just in case you need dilating eyes drops which renders driving impossible. Long story short. Was very well treated by both the nurses the administration staff. Finally expertly treated by the Doctor who took her time and explained everything in lay man’s terms and was both very reassuring and professional. Good news on all fronts. You may have to wait 3 to 4 hours but you get first class treatment here. There is plenty of parking on site should you be lucky to get a lift. My mum (73yrs old and hard of hearing)went in on Friday to collect her new glasses and the prescription was wrong,she couldn’t see a thing, they said take them home and try them which she did and she still couldn’t see.
she just wanted a refund,
(on the website it says 100 day quibble free refund Policy)
Went in on the Saturday to be told they can’t refund until Wednesday when the director is in store, ‍♂️
They begrudgingly give her the refund on Monday.
We do not recommend this shop.
We didn’t have a very good experience at this shop and we just would like to make other people aware.
