The staff have been very supportive and helpful with my son when he has been at one of his lowest points in his life. He has got stronger and increased his confidence and this would have not been possible without the dedicated support from the staff. From our family we just want to say thankyou.
I came here for support with my eating disorder and was admitted to Oak ward.I can’t thank the staff there enough. From the moment I arrived, they were so lovely, supportive, and genuinely caring. They always went out of their way to make sure I was okay and treated me with kindness and respect. It was like we were all one big family.I always felt safe on the ward. A special thank you to Maddy, who went above and beyond to help me. She truly did everything in her power to support me through such a difficult time, and I can honestly say she saved my life. Her compassion and dedication meant the world to me. This place gave me the care and support I desperately needed, and I’ll always be grateful.
I was referred there by my GP for an assessment for possible Asperger's Syndrome in response to a request from my employer. I arrived on a Saturday and talked about my past life to a doctor for an hour then I was asked to return next week with a friend or family member . When I replied that I wouldn't be able to do that the doctor seemed annoyed . I returned alone the next Saturday and our conversation continued . Weeks later I received a letter that was a verbatim account of everything I had said and a brief footnote stating that I was on the Autistic Spectrum . Well yeah , I knew that years ago . This statement was utterly useless to me or my employer. No psychological assessment or tests were carried out and because I queried this I was described as expressionless . Well how would you feel if you had travelled 20 miles in your day off to engage in this charade ? It is my belief that this whole process was an elaborate scam to obtain NHS funding in return for the minimum of effort and a complete waste of my valuable leisure time .
My experience of the priory (The Manor Ward) is mixed, but mainly it has been a positive one. I was admitted for the 28-day residential in which I spent a week detoxing and learning to manage alcohol cravings. I initially really struggled with not being allowed the freedom to go outside or exercise to control my mind and cravings which were at times unbearable. However, the staff and myself discussed this with my consultant who prescribed me further medication to take the edge off the irritability I was having. My sleeping was mixed, but I was allowed medication as a last resort should I fail to get over naturally. The yoga, mindfulness, relaxation, and fitness classes the priory offer are all good to take part in, I came in with an open mind and grew to actually enjoy yoga (something I never thought was possible). A negative for me would be the quality of food that we receive, the money that the patients spend to come here I would expect a lot better, the standard at times was appalling & inedible, leaving me no choice to eat either sandwiches, soup or salad. I also think that we could do with more amenities on site such as a gym, this doesn’t have to be flash, just a treadmill and an exercise bike. Something to get the endorphins going instead of slouching around all day, taking part in one activity a day or sometimes none and having the whole day to have your mind wander and think. It can become too much at times. I’d lastly like to leave a special mention to some of the staff who work here at the Priory, I did not have an issue with any member although there is some who go over and above and who I connected with and felt safe and comfortable around. Teresa & Julia are absolute diamonds with great personalities who build great relationships with all the patients. The stand out for me was Aisha, such a kind hearted soul who was the first nursing team staff I met when I arrived, she made me feel safe and cared for, she checked up on me constantly and nothing was ever an issue for her, i couldn’t help but smile any time she was on her shift because she had such a warm, caring heart that gave me comfort during such a difficult time in my life. I will look back fondly at my time at the priory with hope that I can continue on my path to sobriety with the tools and support I have received. I will be entirely grateful, god bless you all. The work you do is amazing.
I am a student nurse on placement on Manor Ward. I really enjoyed the experience lovely staff and patients. I received so much support and learned a lot this short period of time that if you ask me I will do it all over again ✨️
5* A good hospital for treatment and drug detox, staff are responsive and dont undermine those with conditions. Rooms are good and hygeine is good. Doctors work with patients and keep patients informed. Thank you for helping me out.
