Been joining the yoga sessions on a Tuesday evening along with my daughter’s for a few months now. We love the sessions with Annabelle she is brilliant! So helpful and friendly and explains everything very well. We were all new to yoga so it’s a great session to start with. You leave feeling relaxed and that you have really stretching those muscles, doing your body some good!
The studio is lovely and calming. So clean and it has all what you need for the sessions, mats, blocks and more.
Holly is also so very helpful and friendly and will always try and accommodate you in anyway always happy to answer any questions and give good advice.
They do lots of different sessions and therapies to suit everyone.
We all love going there and would highly recommend if your new to yoga.
However there are other sessions available for people who are more advanced, not got to that point yet, still enjoying what we are doing!

I’ve been going to Holly’s classes at HL Therapy for about 18 months now and i love them. I’d never done pilates before and was a bit nervous about going. I only went because i have a bad back and hip and was told it might help.
But from the moment i walked through the door, i was made to feel so welcome. The studio is bright, airy and extremely clean. All equipment is provided and the classes are both challenging, relaxing and fun. Holly ensures the classes are suitable for all levels and offers modifications and adaptations so you can participate safely. She keeps an eye on you throughout and tactfully and knowledgeably corrects your form. I’ve never regretted going and can see a real improvement in my flexibility and mobility. It’s also great for my well being as i get to switch off my life for an hour a couple of times a week.

So pleased I chose HL Therapy. It’s all very calming and relaxing. After massage therapy on my knees I progressed to acupuncture. I could hardly feel the needles. Just started my very young children at Black Widow (6&8). I am highly impressed in their progression within the 4 PT lessons they have had. My son and daughter have learnt more in these lesson than the year they spent at another academy. The technic, method and communication they use is fantastic. A personal mention to Zayrab their teacher/coach….. absolutely brilliant! Tempted to start lessons myself! WARNING – AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I trained at Black Widow Martial Arts Academy for nearly a year, and honestly, it was a total disaster — but only after Coach Taylor left. He was the only proper coach there decent guy, and the reason he left? A disagreement with the owner Yogi, who couldn’t handle criticism and probably got offended. Typical behaviour from someone who clearly values his ego more than the safety of his students.
After Taylor left, the place went completely downhill. There were no qualified instructors most of the time, just random students leading sessions — people with barely a year of experience themselves. That’s not safe, and it’s not what you pay for.
Sparring became dangerous fast, the classes became super overcrowded and we’d barely fit in the room, Yogi never cared. Everyone was going full power, ignoring the original 20% rule, using the wrong gloves (some people with 12oz and 14oz instead of 16oz), and worst of all — no headgear allowed. Injuries became normal. I personally got hurt multiple times, and when I raised concerns, they were ignored like it was no big deal. + Coaches never observed the sparring they just went to the back and chilled, we’d be sparring on our own for half the lesson unsupervised and you wouldn’t learn anything new, the coaches would only guide us through the warmup and then disappear
Yogi — the greedy owner — only cares about one thing: money. He hides behind a 12-month contract, refuses to cancel memberships even after serious safety concerns, and pretends to “investigate” complaints but clearly doesn’t lift a finger. The guy’s not a coach — he’s a scammer.
And just when you think it couldn’t get more desperate — he forces current students to write fake 5-star reviews just to cover up how bad the place has become. So if you see anything positive on here, it’s likely done under pressure if its a student I guarantee you.
This gym is a complete scam it’s dirty and small, also run by someone who doesn’t care about martial arts, progress, or student safety — just his bank account. Stay far away from Black Widow Martial Arts Academy it’s not a gym it’s business.

Since December, I’ve been a member of SCFIT and can’t recommend it highly enough. The facilities are excellent, and the coaches are knowledgeable, highly motivating, and very patient, which is a great help for me. Having played team sports for over 25 years, I never enjoyed a gym environment until I was recommended Second City Fitness by a mate. They were the CrossFit bore in the pub, and now I am too! I only wish I had discovered it two decades ago. It’s tough work, but incredibly rewarding.

This was my first ever CrossFit membership/experience, and the team and coaches were immensely welcoming & supportive. They made sure I was comfortable with the exercises and made sure to offer exercise variations, to suit my experience and fitness levels. I’m just over a month in to joining Second City and starting crossfit as a whole, and I’m only annoyed at myself that I didn’t do this sooner. The team have been super welcoming and have met some really supportive and fun people so far. The highlight for me though has been the attentiveness and support of the coaches. MSC has been a fantastic gym. I started out with extremely limited confidence and I was reluctant to engage with the gym. I started my journey with 2 months of semi-private PT with Jura and he was brilliant. 4 months in, I’m now able to squat my body weight and I’m actually looking forward to getting up at 6am for MetCon classes!! I had such an amazing Pilates class with Ricara today. The workout was really challenging (in the best way!), but she guided us through every step and made sure we were doing everything safely and correctly. She also played some really great music, which made the whole session even more enjoyable. I come here for Reformer 3/4 times a week and LOVE this studio so much. Such a safe space for women and I love the little community of friends I’ve made here ❤️. Reformer has genuinely changed my life and a few years off 40, it’s the best I’ve ever felt. Yesterday I tried wood therapy/body contouring. It was my first time trying this… did NOT expect the results i got. Ricara did my treatment and it was so relaxing but I could definitely feel it is pushing around stubborn bits of fat/gas/toxins/trapped whatever bad stuff was in there (tmi but girls we need to talk about this stuff for out selfcare!) Went to the toilet 1/2 more times than normal, drank 3l of water as Ricara said…but I woke up feeling SNATCHED! All day I just feel like my body feels like the pipes have all been cleaned like a brand new digestive system. Love love LOVEEE❤️

Amazing experience at PHIT. I’m not a gym person, but was recommended to me by a friend who has experienced amazing results. This is no traditional gym. With the Coaching aspect you get a well varied workout, high energy from the coaches, positive feedback, helpful guidance on techniques and loads of encouragement. There is a real sense of community within the groups, everyone helping and encouraging each other. Highly recommend everyone giving this place a try, especially those who find the traditional gym, competitiveness intimidating. There is always a warm welcome from both staff and other attendees.

I’ve been going to this gym for a few months now, and I’m honestly really happy with it. The place has a solid vibe—clean, organized, and not overly crowded (most of the time).
What I like:
The equipment is in great shape and there’s a good variety—plenty of weights, machines, and cardio options.

First acquainted with I AM YOGI (IAY) at the outdoor yoga at the Botanical Gardens during the summer which, I enjoyed immensely.
While getting a bit reluctant to go back indoors, I am only too glad that I give it a go with IAY at their cabin in Mosley this morning. Very welcoming welcome, beautiful cabin with sensational views and surroundings. Our instructor was great, the session made me feel connected with the environment and, reenergised!
My photos don’t do the place and definitely not the experience justice. It’s really good that free first session is available.

What an amazing experience to practice yoga in a studio surrounded by nature. The stuff is very welcoming and there is fresh tea available that you can drink while you wait for the class to start. The first class is free and they offer you a discount after you’ve tried it. You can use the discount for your first month membership. It’s also important to know that you don’t need to have the key to the park, you just need to ring the bell at the door and they’ll open it for you. I’m definitely joining!

I’ve just completed an 8 week program at Shapeshifters and I cannot shout loudly enough about the impact it’s had on my life. I went there to learn how to work out and got a whole lot more than that. The nutrition and lifestyle advice was easy to understand and follow and within a week I started to have more energy and feel happier. Haider knew exactly how to guide, motivate and push me in the training and Adele was always on hand to advise and guide me with my nutrition.
I’ve been so surprised at the results I’ve achieved in such a short space of time.

Shapeshifters is great, 100% worth every penny. Haider and Adele are amazing!
I joined so that I could get in shape for my wedding, but I also wanted to generally feel healthier. I lost weight and gained muscle really easily over the 3 months, the diet plan is so simple and easy to follow, I never felt hungry or like I was depriving myself. Adele also adapted everything to be vegan for me including suggesting the best supplements to buy. Haider was so kind and motivating during the training sessions, he always pushed me to my limit but never too far, and was accommodating if I wasn’t feeling good.
The best thing though which I didn’t expect, was how much my mental health has improved! My brain fog has gone and I feel like I can actually function properly now. I did all my wedding planning myself and I never would have been able to do it without Adele and Haider’s help. Thank you so much guys, you have no idea how much of a difference you’ve made!

I went to this gym today to do a health screening review. My meeting was with Adele, she made things very easy, gave me good advice. Adele has already created for me some plans and i purchased some supplements to go along with this. Everything is 10/10, the diet plans given are easy to maintain. This gym is clean, not many gyms like this one in birmimgham. Would recommend if you are serious to making a change to your life

I managed to lose 6kg and 9% body fat in 2 and a half month’s in the most healthiest way which I did not think was possible! As an avid cross fitter, suffering with PCOS and south Asian female I was doubting my health choices and unsure how I could not budge the weight. After working with Adele and Junior, they transformed my idea of nutrition and also my form when working out. They have truly changed my life and made me a happier person, I cannot thank them enough for helping me. I will definitely be booking with them again soon for my next future body goal. So like many being bored during lockdown caused me to pile on the pounds and I was worried about my general health, so I made 2 decisions, first was to get healthy again and the second was to choose a gym that was going to help me achieve my results. Shapeshifers are based in Birmingham and I live in Coventry, but I was working in London so I had to make on most occasions a 2 hour commute from London Euston to Selly Oak.
My advice is if you are committed to your goals then Adele, Gary, Matt and the team will help you achieve your results. I’m 47 and arguably I’m healthier and fitter than when I was in my 20’s.. So if you’re thinking about joining then go for it, and in 3 months time you can have your friends and family praising how good you look.

I rarely write 1 star reviews as I prefer to raise issues directly in the hope my views as a paying customer can be taken on board, but here we are.
We used to attend regularly but stopped due to an incident involving my son who is autistic. At the end of the kids classes they hand out ‘reward’ stickers (let’s not think about how the kids that rarely ‘win’ these feel), and on one particular day my six year old son was ‘chosen’ for this in front of a packed class, which was great because he always used to mention that he never wins. So imagine being six with a different outlook of the world around you when you’re abruptly told by Neil that you can’t have it because your shorts were not the purchased uniform version, in front of the whole class so he was sure to be made an example of. As an adult I’d be embarrassed, never mind a six year old child with autism. He quietly sobbed to himself all the way home that evening and was never enthusiastic about attending after that, even though he previously looked forward to it. Despite this being some years ago & having thankfully moved on from here, as I pass the place regularly I’m reminded of the experience as a parent. I did bring it to Neil’s attention but the response was very much in keeping with that experienced by others who have raised criticisms with him.
We used to travel over 25 minutes to get there and with classes for kids being close to rush hour, it being on a very busy stretch of road with little to no local parking, being told you can’t come in for being a few minutes late after such a long drive was very disheartening. You do get a sense of trying to join a closed community in that regard as for some it was not an issue. Maybe applicants from those that don’t live locally shouldn’t be permitted.
Neil, you could’ve earned 5 stars BUT you have the wrong attitude on. So I’m letting everyone that reads this know that you only deserve 1 star because zero rated isn’t an option.

I have recently started PT sessions with Mushy. I can honestly say he is an amazing trainer. Very knowledgeable and professional. He really will push you to your limit and get the best out of you. He is very supportive and will help you to achieve your goals!

The coaches and junior coaches are all fantastic and add something special to the team at USKA. Neil is a fantastic coach and works amazingly well with the NINJAS, he ensures discipline and progression but through fun and laughter- a combination that works great for children that age. Whether you just want to improve fitness or go on to potentially fight USKA is a great club to join. You can see and feel everyone there is a team, and every child is welcomed and cared for. My daughter really needed something to teach her discipline and focus and this club was the perfect place for her!! Fingers crossed USKA has a little world champion in the making

Great place for kids to train and have fun! Both of my sons love it and look forward to their ninja class every week. All staff are very friendly and great with the kids. Kids are rewarded with a sticker at the end of the class if they have deserved it which is a great idea to keep kids motivated. Also like the fact the class also has junior coaches and take part in the races! Highly recommend joining your children here !

USKA female division is unmatched – highly professional yet friendly atmosphere. I started classes as an adult which would have been daunting, but I always felt extremely welcome. I have been attending for 2 years now and have managed to progress very quickly in a short amount of time – with 5 belts, 2 competitions (2nd and 3rd place) and even my first fight!
